For example...Doctors on staff or at least on call? Oh, yes I was told. Not true. A Nurse practitioner was it...and if my "person"had a problem it turned out to be days before the issue was addressed and medication was disbursed. And speaking of medication...my person was given so many drugs his eyes were going in different directions and he didn't even know what planet he was on. If he moved any slower he would have been going in reverse. Trying to keep a watch on the drugs was becoming a full time job. Meanwhile seeing my person like that was heart breaking. Other issues...the food was supposedly made on the premises...but I was never shown the kitchen...and I did ask...more than once! When I questioned what was served for dinner the answer was usually mystery meat...and no salads or fresh fruit...and small portions....no seconds...but nobody cared. I was told if my person needed to go to a medical appointment transportation was promised through the facility...but the one time I requested this I was given the run around. It turned out not to matter as my person was sent to the ER for the 2nd time in five months. I took the hint and placed him in another facility where he was cared for, the food was prepared on the premises and was good and plentiful...and best of all...his mind started working again...his eyes cleared up...he knew where he was and we could have a conversation! Be careful when entrusting the care of your loved ones to any facility....visit often and keep your eyes wide open....and don't believe everything you are told.

T The area is an old military base that is being redeveloped. As of now it's very quiet and secure, but seems to have a lot of activities for the residents. The only downside is it a 15-20 minute drive to anything. I mean anything.....gas station, drug store, groceries. There is an equestrian center close by...if only you could buy food there!

When Mom moved to skilled nursing it was all over. Mom was combative (Alzheimer's) and the nurses used to hang her by her arms in the sling with her standing on her tippy toes to change her diapers. That director was NEVER there after 5:00 p.m. Mom's primary CNA walked by us one evening and Mom, who had aphasia, muttered, "Demon." Mom gave up the will to live very shortly after.
