The store is messy, too packed with carelessly arranged furniture to even navigate your way through the store, much less the upper & lower levels. I have seen the same pieces on display there for the last two years - the proprietor needs lower prices and refresh his inventory. Like so many other shops in Saugerties, this has potential but doesn't live up to it. Clean up your act, Green. Move out the old stuff, organize your wares in an appealing manner and then maybe I'll be back, and recommend you to others.

Essentially, a man named Harvey Fite single-handledly took over 60 acres of Saugerties and built a giant bluestone sculpture in the center of it. The beauty of the walls, the paths, the pools...it's worth checking out. The scale is incredible when you realize one man did it all himself, including hoisting the 14 foot, 9 ton stone he called FLAME in the center. Opus 40 hosts concerts, nature talks and walks, events, and more at this beautiful, serene space, so check those out. And if you're more inclined, just do what my mom and her friends do often (what I've only done once so far), and walk the grounds and take it all in.

They do have other items for sale such as Folkmanis Puppets, decorative gift bags, a selection of greeting cards, unique journal books, and a variety of items related to creative writing. The store also supports local artists by displaying their artwork throughout the store along with the price list. There were several spots throughout the bookstore where you can sit back and enjoy your beverage or snack with a book, which made for a cozy welcoming vibe. Staff were super friendly and inviting. The store is well organized and it is fairly easy to find what you are looking for. If you need a quick reference point on where to start be sure to ask the staff for help.
