As a complete newbie to CrossFit -- and gym environments in general -- I was initially pretty nervous to come here. Coach Kris quickly put my concerns to rest. The "on-ramp" course of three personalized sessions provided the perfect foundation for me, ensuring that I'd be able to jump into the regular group classes (with some mods). With no more than 10 people in a class, the coaches were able to provide individualized attention, which made all the difference, especially for a beginner like myself. Coach Kris was always attentive and supportive, offering modifications tailored to my skill level so that I felt both challenged and successful in every class. The welcoming and positive atmosphere, from coaches to fellow attendees, also set such a great tone for each class. Everyone always worked really well together, cheering each other on, and congratulating everyone at the end for a good workout. Can't say enough great things about CrossFit 310 and this community. Everyone is so positive and helpful. The coaches are so patient and caring and really take time with each person. Another big thing as a mom is that it is totally family-friendly and kid-friendly. I had access to rowers, barbells, plates, pull-up bars, and rings to get my workout done. Over the last two years that I've been a member, the folks at CrossFit310 have changed the way I feel about exercise. When I say "the folks" it's more than just the owner Kris and his coaches, but the entire community of people who are members. Kris has done a great job of building a huge supportive family that is always looking out for one another. In fact, while I do like the concept of CrossFit as a whole, I find that my enjoyment and motivation is derived less from CrossFit itself and more from the group I get to spend time with every week. Far from the chore that many people view exercise as, it is something that I look forward to on a daily basis. One of the things I like most is the constant focus on preparation. That includes warming up, stretching, learning proper technique and a relentless dedication to moving efficiently. It is so ingrained in the culture at CrossFit310 by Kris and his coaching staff that it is not uncommon for other members to provide observations and tips on improving your form, be it something as simple as a stretch to the complicated and rapid movement of an Olympic lift. All that preparation allows you to do amazing things, often things you never imagined you'd be able to do. All of this is taught in the context of each individual's specific limitations. Scaling, tailoring and focusing on things that need improvement is the tenet of the coaching staff, and is the reason that no one is too old, too out of shape, too heavy or too uncoordinated. The key is consistency and dedication. That leads me to the next area that CrossFit310 stands out in my opinion. Kris is a fantastic coach. It is hard not to be excited or motivated when he is around, even when he tells you you're going to be doing something you absolutely dread. I feel that he has done a great job of filling his coaching bullpen with individuals that have that same spark. In the end, that makes it far easier to stick to a routine which in turn leads to results and consequently the desire for further results. I can think of few vicious cycles that lead to such pleasant outcomes. As for results... I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. While not chronic, my knees and lower back would ache from time to time but now I can't remember the last time I was bothered by either. An avid skier, the difference in my ability to tackle harder terrain, ski harder and longer, and maintain my wind at altitude are all improved. So if you are a CrossFit devotee looking for a new box, a travelling CrossFitter looking for a box to stop in at, or just someone looking to try something a little different than the traditional gym experience, I couldn't think of a better place to recommend than CrossFit310. I looked at several CrossFit gyms in the area and knew immediately that CrossFit310 was the one. When I started, Kris and DJ took the time to get to know me, my goals, and introduce me to the basics of the sport. I am officially a CrossFit addict thanks to Kris and all the great people over at CrossFit 310! Kris is an amazing trainer that inspires you to reach past your barriers each and every workout! If you want to just hang your towel on a machine and text check-in on 4-square that you are "working out" then this is definitely NOT the place for you! If you want to challenge your self with olympic style lifts, kettle bells, pull-ups, push-ups, sprints, rope climbs, etc. then look no further! I can't say enough wonderful things about this gym. Crossfit 310 is amazing! If you are looking to improve your strength physically and mentally than you need to check this place out. Kris, the owner, teaches group classes and also trains one on one. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I love the group classes because I get they are small so you feel like you are getting personal training, but you are also motivated by the others you are with. At this gym you won't find a bunch of complicated machines, mirrors, or steroid shooting muscle heads. You will however find bars, mats, kettlebells, ropes, boxes and tires as well as a group of people dedicated to pushing themselves to get in their best shape. If you want to add to your routine, are bored of your current one, or want to start a new one this is where you want to go. You will get the body of an athlete because you will be training like one and I promise you will never be bored. read more

The first class I ever attended I hadn't even put my bag down when a lady said, "Hi is this your first time coming here?" I replied yes and she said, "Hi, I'm Brit!" Then Kei and JoJo introduced themselves as well. Every class after that I saw the same behavior of these warm, kind people introducing themselves to new members. The thing is they don't stop there...they help you with weights, encourage your progress, answer questions. It's as if each member becomes a trainer to help others. I believe that is what is different about 310. Kris and Tawni have set up this unique environment of people helping people. When you become a part of 310 it's not just about exercise and staying fit. It is a choice..a choice to be part of something bigger...a part of the 310 family!! What I would say to anyone that comes through 310 doors is "if you want to learn new skills, be around kind, wonderful people, receive feelings of accomplishments, be rewarded on a weekly basis, laugh, sweat, and just plain feel excited about working out, you have come to the RIGHT place!!" Love this place. I had been looking for something more "exciting" than the daily gym routine. The coaches are great, super supportive and helpful and push you to do things you have never done or tried before and probably didn't know you could do (like a handstand). They are great about scaling workouts and working around injuries. Kris has built a great sense of community, members are friendly and everyone supports one another through the WODs, clapping and cheering for those who may not be finished yet.
