They didn't tell me that I needed to buy or rent a wrist monitor so that was $110 I didn't expect then I forgot it one day and they charge me $10 to rent one. If you have a busy schedule be careful when you reschedule appointments they are not at all flexible. i missed a few classes and they charge $12 if you schedule and then don't make it. Overall it's very unfriendly from a customer service standpoint. The kind of management that writes a tough binding agreement and the quotes it at you.

I was also not a fan of the expensive membership prices. However, I realize that this is probably exactly what I need: combination of strength and cardio guided workouts in a class setting. No planning your workouts at all, just show up and do it. The workouts are challenging BUT DOABLE for all levels, even me. You'll be surprised in yourself in what you can do, you just have to try. So 5 classes later, Elite Membership (8x/month), I have my own OTBeat Burn and I'm LOVING seeing my progress on the screen. I quickly became tired of the elliptical, tired of the treadmill, and the only thing I knew for sure was that if my workouts continued to feel like chores, I'd never stick with them. I tried the Fight Club class after checking out classes at a few other gyms, and I was instantly hooked. It was first time I realized I could have a good time working out. It took me a while to try out some of the other classes, but now, SuperGirl is my favorite. It's always something different, but consistently keeps me working hard. But the really surprising thing was, it didn't take me long to feel comfortable there. Heather, the owner of the gym who also happens to be the main instructor for many classes, is equally a motivator, an entertainer, and a hardcore fitness instructor. I start out each class feeling scared for the intensity i know is about to be inflicted upon my body, and psyched, in the same was anybody is before they are about to do something they know is going to be completely fun and rewarding. Any class with Heather usually includes a stand-up routine at no extra charge. And not surprisingly, smiling and laughing a lot while you're sweating like crazy, definitely takes the pressure off. Actually, all the instructors are pretty cool, care about your success, and will give you a great workout. I've met a lot of people at this gym, and the pervasive attitude is one of support, non-judgement, and willingness to help each other out. The whole environment is pretty cool, and rare. There's something for everybody, whether your idea of fitness involves flipping tires, interval training, running, dancing, pole, or kicking and punching. And the price is definitely right.

We were taught an array of moves on the pole and then moved onto a full chair dance routine. The women in our party ranged in age from their early 20's to late 50's -- and everyone had a blast! I can't say enough good things about our experience. As for the regular classes, I took a class here about a year ago and really enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area or else Sweat Like A Girl would be my full-time workout studio.

So i decided to join her one day as her plus one. First off, know that you have to drive all the way to the back of the plaza to find it. But there's plenty of parking. The studio is run by two nice trainers: Sally and Jordan. They are very open and all about helping you. They tell you their story and listen to yours. It's all about setting goals and appreciating the little accomplishments. First thing when you walk in is that it's one big room. Not little alcoves here and there. Just a huge mat for you to get sweaty on. I did notice there's not one mirror- which is quite interesting. There is complementary child care and very nice locker rooms. They are like to do one on one meetings to check in with you every other week. Their hours are a bit wonky so check the class schedule each week before coming in. But what I like most about this place is that if you can't do a conventional push up, they find another way to get your body to work the same muscles. My advice? Come try it out!

There's never anything to sanitize things down before or after use of machines. Upholstery is broken on about 50% of the equipment. Water fountain has rust on it, and mold. The bathrooms are never stocked or clean. The showers are a biohazard in and of itself. There is always cancellations of the classes they provide. They do not offer any services advertised like karate classes, and pilates. they do not have a chiropractor on site, they fired her. The spa is not run by licensed cosmetologists, the cafe is always dirty and unkept. There is rust in the indoor pool, the therapy pool seat is corroding, which is terrible as it is used for transport of disabled individuals in and out of the pool. There is never anyone on management wise that can offer answers to my questions. Seems they just fired them all, as the three that were there when i signed up are now no longer employed. I want to warn anyone to this gym, as it's dirty, overpriced, and they serve alcohol? It's the owners nightclub on steroids, more than a serious venue to work out. I took my business to Planet Fitness, at least there they upkeep with the best work out machines available, and their classes are never cancelled.

I'm trying to join back up. I've called three times, always told a membership sales person will get back to me to set up a time, or to send a request through the online messaging system. Well I have done that twice now, 2 different weeks. And I still have yet to hear an answer or call back.

So here we go - my pros and cons Pros - Friendly and welcoming owner Mel greeted me and chatted while we waited for the class to begin. He is a very nice man and even made me laugh a few times. Plus for not having that 'gym machismo' factor. Pro - This workout is intense - I'm pretty fit, but I got my butt handed to me so much so that the next day I went out and purchased a fitbit heart rate monitor so I can see how close to cardiac arrest I am should I ever go back. Pro - This is a total body workout - strength, cardio, balance, they hit all the zones. Pro - First three classes are free - that is very generous, most places offer your first class and then you're on your own. Cons - There was no stretch what so ever. The class ended and everyone just left. I was kinda left there looking around like "is this it?" Mel said I was more than welcome to stay and stretch if I like, but they dont do it. I felt kinda odd since other's were coming in and so I just left. Cons - I am a person who need a class card. I travel a lot and so I purchase class cards so that I can use them when I'm in the area. This is the type of place that you need to buy a membership. I don't live in the area, but would love to work out here if I'm working in this part of Jersey. Cons - I hate putting this down as a con, but here goes. When this class was taking place we were just told to which exercises to do, there was no demonstration. I know what almost all of the names of things are but even so, there were two or three things that I wasn't sure what they were and I had to look at my fellow exercisers to see what they were doing. It would have been good to see something demonstrated or to have received some correction and adjustment to prevent injury. I would be back if they sold class cards and used something like #MindBodyOnline so I could see their schedule and book classes - but that is only if they sold class cards. If you are very very new to working out, you may find this to be an intensely challenging class.

Quite possibly the best butt-kicking money can buy. No two workout sessions are alike, and expect…read moreto get a full-body workout each time. Mel definitely knows what he is doing and genuinely care about each and every person in the class.
