Short and Sweet: If you're struggling to stay motivated with your workouts and not get stuck in a gym routine, like I did. You've got to give this place a try. Every visit is different, with an emphasis on different areas of the body.
Don't believe me, come take advantage of their free one day visit.
The Nitty-Gritty: Ragnarok is a crossfit gym owned by two twins. I was able to meet Jason (please correct me if I'm wrong, so bad with names ;) ) I haven't met the other bro.
We (3) went here last night for our free session. Last night was considered relatively light as per our coach with the focus on butts and thighs via squats, kettle bell swings, and lunges. I can't forget the 800 meter run outside of the gym, 400 out-400 in. It was performed after our 30mins of warm up, nothing but squats. Thighs were screaming then! I was the last person of the group during the run. One of the first members passed me up as he made his way back into the gym. He was very encouraging as he ran pass me he said, 'You're doing great, keep it up.' I finished my '400 in' on a walk, thighs gave up as they were burning.
FINALLY INSIDE, HAHA. We were to perform our main event. 30-20-10 kettle bell swings with lunges (while holding a medicine ball) between each set. I was going to try to finish my last 10 kettle bell swings and lunges but the coach gave me a pass as he saw me struggling.
I was sweating profusely! Became light headed when I had to stop for water during and after the workout. Thank goodness I tried to pace myself and take a few breaks. Towards the end we were laid out in front of the fan sweating and all red. Just makes you realized how unhealthy and out of shape we were.
As I was resting I noticed, as the previous poster stated; during closing time the other members help clean up. Everyone is so considerate! I know it was my first visit but they seem so nice. They do make you feel welcomed. I was motivated by everyone's efforts and encouraging words, some of them funny yet entertaining to hear, haha.
One thing is right, regardless of the size of this gym, YO GONNA GET A WORKOUT! My BOOTAY and thighs are sore. If last night was 'light' I'm scared about the future! I'm not just saying that, I've done cycling and/or Pilates back to back, my workouts use to be 2hrs a day for 5-6 times a week and I have never sweat this crazy.
But I'm going to not let my first visit deter me. Give me at least a day break, I'm hoping to come back. Get my workouts on and to meet the other twin ;)!
Very important note: The facility doesn't have a water fountain. Bring your own water unless you don't mind getting water from the bathroom facet.
See you at Ragnarok, I'm going to be one that is sporting a gallon of water! read more
