Since my initial Fitness Assessment with Luke (co-owner) I have had the absolute pleasure of training with personal trainer Mattias for the past 2 years. Mattias - every staff member, in fact - helped by demonstrating technique or by offering a smile and encouraging word. Mattias has always been a huge motivation for me in not only reaching, but going above and beyond my personal fitness goals. He not only encouraged and "trained" me, but he helped me realize a level of pride that I never had before. I absolutely endorse the personal training program offered at The Northwood Club and of course Mattias for anyone at any stage in their fitness journey. I am very proud to call The Northwood Club my second home!

I was in town for a week, and went to the gym 4 times. 2 of the 4 times I had an issue with some staff member. I honestly even suspected at one point it might even be a race issue because of how absurd the entire process was (which i'm still on the fence about). Needless to say, I think this is a nice boutique gym, but next time i'm in town for a week, i'll be working out at another gym.

My trainer Craig is very Professional, helpful and supportive. He gives me a variety of exercises to work through which are challenging and have been helping make me stronger. The gym is very clean and the staff do a great job of supporting the members through their concerns. I had a concern about members not cleaning the machines and the staff took this on right away and worked to rectify the issue. The equipment is in good repair and there has been new equipment added to the gym since I joined. Love this gym and would definitely recommend it to others which I have been doing!

The hot towel compresses smelled of crème brûlée which was followed by agave nectar massage oil. Very nice! Then a half hour laying in the Ganban Volcanic Rock Studio listening to a relaxation meditation ... had it been longer, I would have fallen asleep! So I wrote this review a while back:…read more "As part of my "treatment" for an ankle injury, I was told I needed orthotics from her clinic and had to pay for exercise classes. She told me to take three weeks off work and I should be better. She then asked me if I had insurance, and when I said yes, wanted to sell me a walking boot that day after telling me to get off my feet for three weeks. When I asked why I would need it if I was supposed to be off my feet, she said after a long pause, "Well maybe it would help with the injury". A few weeks with the orthotics and I started to feel some discomfort in my upper leg. I was told that I couldn't see the doctor, that I would have to let the physiotherapist work on it first. He fractured my leg in two places and destroyed the muscle in my leg. I haven't worked in over a year and all I got was "I'm sorry" while she looked at the floor. While trying to assess the initial problem in the leg, she prescribed me morphine and gabapentin without telling me what the second was or what she was treating me for. I wasn't interested in pain management, I wanted the problem diagnosed and dealt with. She lied to me multiple times during my visits including, but not limited to, giving me her card and telling me to have my employer call her in place of giving me a note. At the end of this ordeal, when I asked her if I should have my employer call her, she said no because they can't tell them anything over the phone. So why did she twice tell me it was fine before that? She told me she knew what was causing the pain and it would be gone in two weeks but she never actually told me what she thought the problem was. She is the most irresponsible professional I have ever had to deal with. Read some of the other negative reviews here. Regardless of how you are referred to Olivia Cheng, you do not have to use her or her clinic. Exercise your right to choose. You'll thank me later." I then received an e-mail from Todd Starr, who has never been my doctor, calling me a liar and making claims that "they" (Olivia, Darryl & Todd) didn't know who would have made that claim. For that to be true, there would have to be multiple patients who could have made the claim, or Olivia and Darryl were not honest with Todd. I then got a cease and desist from Darryl Novotny so I pulled this review on a hunch. The hunch is that it was Todd pulling the strings. Based on what Darryl said to me in an e-mail, he doesn't have a full understanding of timelines and events as he has bumbled facts and again made accusations that are untrue. He's clearly getting his legal advice from a chiropractor. As a result of Todd and Darryl's unprofessional conduct and narcissistic approach to dealing with this issue, I have filed formal complaints with the Colleges of Chiropractors, Physicians & Surgeons and Physiotherapists. I will keep you up to date as matters progress. Stay informed.
