Great gym! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The coaches were knowledgeable, took the time to demonstrate every movement, and made sure everyone felt comfortable. Super fun drop in! They're hidden in a business center, and our Uber didn't believe us when we told him there was a CrossFit on the island ... he said he's lived here 25 years and had no idea! Anyway, we got to the box early and was greeted immediately. The box is small yet they have all the amenities ... bathroom with showers, filtered water station and they've got some retail items for sale too! Our coach was David ... he's so dang friendly and welcoming! It was a packed class and we didn't want to take up too much space, but he made sure to make us feel at home. We drop in to a lot of crossfits when we're on vacation, so this was a supper nice touch. The class kicked our butts! The community was friendly and welcoming. The facility is super clean (they mop the floors between classes even!). I can't recommend this place enough! Will definitely be stopping back here on our next visit to the big island. I dropped in for a class while visiting Kona. It is a great place to workout! The owner, Coach Kirk, was responsive to my emails. It was easy to connect and get merch. The workout started with a great warmup consisting of some tie on the bike, active stretching and passive stretching. Needless to say, I was warm especially in the Hawaii humidity, but the large fans were a great help! The workout itself started with a lifting portion, strict presses over a period of time. Coach Kirk was great, very attentive and gave great feedback. The cardio portion was very challenging, two rounds for time but a triplet that really tested my mental capacity. Overall a great experience, the members were very welcoming and friendly, it felt like I was back home in my own box. They even gave great recommendations for dinner! Lots of equipment, really well organized and quality instruction. Overall I would recommend this to anyone fully into or even curious about CrossFit. If I lived in Kona, I would seriously consider this gym! read more

What a great community based gym! We showed up on a Saturday and there were kids there with their parents and everyone was in a good mode. A little disorganized but you just need to ask people and they get the job done. Felt very welcomed as a visitor. They even let us borrow socks when we did rope climbing. Good morning warm up and it was 17.1 wod and Monty gave us good advice and coaching on how to do the wod and each movement. I went to CrossFit Kona 4 times during our week-long vacation in Kona, and it was really one of the highlights of my trip. I was a little nervous about going since I wasn't a local, and because I was fairly new to CrossFit, but I went to the 5:30 am class, and Coach Johnny and all the members were so welcoming. It's a really great gym, great equipment, and the workouts were really challenging, but he helped me scale them so they were doable. I learned some new stretches that were really good, too. But overall, the best part was the sense of community. I met, and got to know people I never would have met, but for CrossFit. I couldn't imagine a better way to start the day. Thanks Coach Johnny, and the great group of guys who welcomed me into their morning class -- Dustin, Ivan Mark & Bubba! (PS - they have some really cool T-shirts and tanks, too). read more

Every time I am traveling or visit an area, I am always sure to hit up the local CrossFit, get my sweat on, and buy a Tshirt. I started CrossFit 4 years ago on Oahu and have since visited many Crossfit locations across the country. The reason I am giving this one only 1 star is because Monty, the owner, was not at all welcoming or friendly. The 1 star is for an awesome gym. Great equipment. Nice setup. And most of the athletes were quite friendly. However, the owner charged each of us $20 for the class and he never once spoke our name, checked our form, or cheered us on like he did the regular attendees. Also, when trying to make conversation, he was very blunt in his response with one word answers. He made no effort to make us feel welcomed. In my opinion, this is a major downfall for a Crossfit business. I definitely won't go back to this location when I'm on the island again. There were a couple others that I'd love to try and hope that they are a more welcoming and encouraging environment. read more
