I love this place. Many people who do not do CrossFit have very false ideas about it, and I think that it prevents many people from walking through the door and taking that first step. I was always sold on the methodology behind the workouts and programming; it was just about taking that first step and checking it out. I finally did that in February 2014 and I haven't looked back. The coaches are fantastic - they have extensive knowledge about exercise, physiology and nutrition, and they are ALWAYS there to help. They don't push you to go uncomfortably beyond your limits - some boxes might do that, but CrossFit Marshfield knows its client base and knows its demographic and caters to it perfectly. That said, they will work with you to push yourself farther than you thought possible, if that's what you want and if they agree you're ready and it's safe. When I joined I truly believed there were certain things I just wouldn't be able to do - like a rope climb or a pullup. These are two things that I was NEVER able to do before - ever. Not even during those physical fitness tests in elementary school! Now, I can climb ropes and do pullups all day. Seeing myself do what I didn't think I would ever be able to do is what keeps me coming back for more. And it doesn't hurt that I've lost 15 pounds and kept it off (thanks to their nutritional help)! In addition, I also love this community of people. We come from all different walks of life - firefighters, cops, lawyers, nurses, electricians, nannies, stylists, accountants, college students, etc. There isn't one member here who doesn't fit in. We don't all sit around and hold hands and chant CrossFit over and over again, so get the "cult" picture out of your head. We genuinely get along, we all want to be there, and we all have the common ground of wanting to get better - at something, at anything. We joke, we laugh, we encourage each other. We start together, and we make sure we are there when each person we started with finishes or hits that time cap. I've made some great friends here that I would never have met otherwise. In just three months of consistent workouts I went from being able to run just 200m before stopping to running a mile in 7:56. I just had my annual physical and I lost 23 pounds since my physical last year, And I'm 52 years old. I've trained injury free for 12 weeks, and I've regained a sense of confidence and well being. The professional fitness guidance provided by Anthony and his coaching staff has been instrumental in helping me get here. There's a focus on building core strength through flexibility, form and conditioning, that when scaled yields impactful results. Prior to this, I hadn't worked out in 25 years. This place has helped me feel great and look forward to working out again. Anthony, the owner has done a great job of making everyone, at every level of fitness, feel comfortable and welcome. At 53 years old, I have had some bouts with a bad lower back - since joining in November of 2013, my back has never felt better - no pain, feels solid. I attribute that to the variety of core and back exercises that I would never have done on my own. Anthony encourages you to improve and push yourself, while keeping you focused on technique and safety to avoid injury. CrossFit Marshfield isn't the first box I joined but it will be my last as long as it is around. The owner, Anthony Pavao genuinely cares about his members and wants to see them succeed. That alone is reason I get up for a 6am class. But CrossFit Marshfield is so much more. The coaching is great with focus on form and safety. Now in my mid-40's, I'm much more focused on consistent improvement vs. pushing myself to the point of potential injury. The workouts of the day are fantastic and varied, and the members of all ages really do foster a sense of community. I had contacted Crossfit Marshfield with a bit of reluctance - I'm not the springiest chicken in the coop. A few months later and I cannot figure what initially held me back. From the second I walked in, Anthony (the owner) and the clientele made me feel welcome, comfortable, safe and eager to learn. I've been to other CrossFits in Boston and Los Angeles but neither compares to the level of professionalism and caring that I've experienced at CrossFit Marshfield. The owner, Anthony Pavao, and Coach Jake foster an environment of cooperation and mutual respect and encourage and motivate all of us to excel . This gym has been the 3rd best thing in my life following God and my family. Anthony Pavao runs this organization professionally and with warmth.....its best when he walks by and encourages you, tells you to slow down, use less weight, don't pull anything, GOOD JOB!!!-never had this before. I would suggest everyone visit this gym at least 3 days a week and become flexible, gain muscle and loose fat all while having FUN!
