I walked in with so much respect especially after owner Rich like to brag he's an immigrant, single mother raised, blah blah-- his cat died blah blah, he even likes to brag about his rehabilitated rescue pit bull dog. Yet, won't help low income members of the surrounding community who are exactly like him join unless you pay $520 to join this Shoe Box. The story he gives you is all muse. Muse is a great place to go no matter what level of fitness you are in. When I started my journey I weight 310lbs I couldn't run and let's not talk about even doing a burpee. However, the coaches here met me at my level, and helped me slowly but surely fall in love with fitness. I am not the picture of fitness per se but I am so much better today at 245 lbs than I was 3 years ago when I started. The facility itself is big and always very clean. The equipment is in great condition and always clean. The people make you feel welcomed and always encourage you to do your best. I cannot remember the last time I went somewhere and felt everyone wishing you the best. The community here is awesome and really reflects the coaches. Coach/Owner Rich is always available to answer any questions and help guide you to the best of his abilities. Coach Anna and Hayden are just stellar, I cannot stress how much these 2 have impacted me on a personal level and fitness level. Coach Ryan and Justin are very attentive to how you lift and help break things down to a level where I understood. I am grateful to have found this place and I am looking forward to continuing my journey with Muse. I joined Muse in September 2020 during the pandemic and I can say there hasn't been a single day and time that I felt uncomfortable. Classes are outside and with masks on! They provide cleaning equipment including sanitizers as well. It's really hard to find a gym that has a combination of great programming, coaches and a support system and here at Muse I found it all. The programming is great - I have only been working out here for a few months and have already gained so much more strength than before and also got better at so many movements. Every time we finish a workout cycle, which is typically 5-6 weeks, I see atleast 95% of the people hit a PR (personal record), which is incredible! It tells you that the program is created with a purpose and it's working. The coaches - I can't thank everyone for giving me tips and always helping get better. They all are so talented and have a lot of experience. Not to mention, down to earth. They know my strength and capabilities better than I do! People - for me community matters the MOST! From Day 1 everyone has been supportive and pushes me to get better. It basically feels like family and I have developed friendship with a lot of people. There is no one I have seen who is not willing to help and there is zero judgement environment. Equipment - they have one of the best and cleanest equipment I have seen at CrossFit gyms. CrossFit can be intimidating but it's the community and coaches that can help people get over that intimidation - Muse has it all. Classes are so crowded, making coaching difficult. Most people struggle through the class with bad technique that could lead to injuries. Was there for a few months and saw so many new faces come and go in less than a month. CrossFit already has a high injury rate compared to other sports, combine that with over crowded classes and coaches that can't do more than encourage you to keep pushing, working out here is begging for an injury. I tried several other CrossFit gyms around LA and finally found one with coaches that take the time to ensure everyone knows how to safely perform the skills. Don't be fooled by the quantity of people that come here, because the quality of coaching and safety is very low. read more

Muse is hands down the best Crossfit in DTLA. I've taken classes at all of the other options and the space, programming, schedule, and overall vibe don't compare. Rich and Liz have tremendous experience and will always go above and beyond to ensure you have proper form and are pushing yourself beyond your limits. Mara will make you laugh your ass off so be ready to work hard, but know that you'll also have a great time! This location is mint from staff, equipment, and the facility itself. This is one of the most impressive CrossFit facilities I've ever been to. It's large which is a rarity in LA and there's lots of street parking nearby if the spots in front of the gym are full. But the best thing is the people. The owners treat everyone like family and make lots of effort to introduce members to one another. Highly recommend this gym! I travel all the time for work and drop in whenever/wherever I can - this was hands down the best experience I've had at any box. To start, the space is absolutely beautiful and massive - plenty of room for classes and open gym + you can drop weights no problem. Both the coaches and community were so welcoming from the get-go and the programming over the course of 8 days was fantastic. Since my work hours are odd, I went to some class times with only a few people and received incredible coaching...I actually found two new PR's in a span of 8 days with a few pointers and support. They've been open for about a month now, but Muse is run by people who know what they're doing. From the owners to coaches to staff, everybody has been extremely helpful and they're also starting to grow a great community. Crossfit Muse is a fantastic space, with great programming, coaches, and members. Rich and Liz are wonderful and encouraging coaches, who always have a good sense of just how hard you should push in a given workout. The programming is logical and designed to get you stronger/fitter/faster without spending a crazy amount of hours working out. Plus all of the members are always cheering each other on, no matter what your skill or fitness level, and the physical space is really big and clean.
