Amazing workouts mostly and amazing teachers that are kind and interested in teaching and…read moremotivating! Mark and Becca and all the other trainers were amazing! ***The cons: the manager specific to the la grange location- she has been discussed here before and, I'd agree she definitely needs to be retrained in people service skills. I understand that the rules are important and that you can only cancel with 8+ hrs notice or be charged an additional fee if 12$ each time.... but I could not always do that with my schedule and family life and I paid the extra fee quite a few times over 18 months without complaining or pushback bc I understand the rules. However, the manager likes to make people feel like they've done something quite wrong even if they pay the fee. The attitude is what made me cancel my membership at OT LA GRANGE! I love OT and I'll be joining elsewhere possibly but the manager there was condescending and had few people skills. She instead couldn't t read the room or situation even at the holidays. She sometimes she acted more like a parent scolding you than a customer service manager... She scolded me about a few various things over the months... for example while I was cooling down after class one day (and the trainer told us to stay in as long as we like), I took that to mean I could cool down from my run for a very quick 3 minute slow walk. Well, she suddenly turned off my treadmill and everyone else's before everyone had gotten off. She did this a lot. She seemed to do this quite often in the evening near the end of the class even if there were no class behind us. One day during OPEN GYM with only one other person in the gym, I had pulled out my phone to open my OT app specifically and check my heart rate and progress during my open gym workout. the large screen was not showing heart rates up on screen in the gym. I was only one of 2-three people in the gym yet she runs in and lectures me while I'm on the treadmill and tells me to put my phone away. I complied but I tried to explain I was just checking my heart rate bc it helps me stay on track during OPEN GYM. She just continued with this hardline about how you can't have your phone out anytime in the gym even if you're not on it, and it's a rule to keep everyone focused on their workout....I said ok, sure.... But then can we get the heart rates put up in the above monitor? She said "no we don't display them usually during open gym..... ugh." But now I noticed the DO put them up during open gym which makes much more sense. It was about the way she ran in and spoke in a scolding manner. ***Another time I came in and was stretching at the end of my workout- it was right after the noon class and Mark told me I could stretch. The manager, same person, turns off the lights in the workout area from somewhere over in front, but- hmmm not very welcoming. I have no idea why she did that they didn't lose electricity and the gym was open. Not to mention the attitude she displays for canceling a class even if you request just to switch to a later class the same day. It seems to be a big deal for her (not others) and even if you pay for the top unlimited membership, be aware you still can accumulate 12$ up charges if you have a busy schedule and can't cancel before the 8 hr mark... if my work needs me late or a kid gets sick I'd usually eat those fees. But the attitude from the manager is just silly and ridiculous. Another time she scolded me for walking into the main area with my street shoes on. They were clean but it was winter and wet outside. I obviously understood I had to clean my shoes but she ran over and asked me why I hadn't brought a second pair to change into bc I was supposed to do that each class. I had never heard that and had never been told that honestly. I had been a member for about 2 months when that happened. She claimed I definitely had been told this before. I honestly NEVER been told that and rarely saw other change their shoes before going into the gym but often during rainy days people would wipe the bottom of their feet with clothes the team had put out. But again her attitude was condescending and silly. I decided even though I love OT classes and trainers, I'm done with La Grange. Hope the next OT manager I join with will have better reasonable attitude to keep everyone feeling great about their workouts. I was able to manage the cost while still getting strong but I know others may find the 8-12 hr cancellation policy difficult m. I'll go further to get what is appropriate for me. Attitude is everything.
