I've owned a CrossFit and drop in to a lot of gyms...this is one of the top ones I've visited!…read more Programming is done by the head coach and is appropriate for anyone dropping in or regularly training there. The coaches care and provide each athlete individual attention throughout the case. This gym also has an ATA adaptive certified trainer so it's inclusive to people with disabilities :) I'd recommend this gym to anyone!

If you've done much research at all on options for physical fitness, your'e almost certainly heard…read moreof CrossFit and may have images of elite Spartan warriors training by tossing boulders, or workouts so extreme that even the super-fit are left lying on the ground heaving. This is not that. Well, not quite... The Garage (formerly located in the East Village) is a fresh operation staffed by knowledgable and friendly coaches eager to share their enthusiasm for all that CrossFit can provide. The focus for training starts with an emphasis on good form/mechanics (safety) followed by consistency and then intensity. Workouts are varied each time to really drive toward a goal of truly functional fitness. I am a long way from Spartan warriorhood, but all the moves and exercises that make up each workout of the day (WOD) can be scaled to my current ability and strength. While many of the members here have carved themselves to elite fitness status, the attitude is far from elitist. I have not walked in once and not been greeted by random gym-goers. There really is a sense of community and support at this gym. If you're looking for a safe way to find your physical potential, The Garage is well worth checking out. This "box," as the CrossFit community calls the gym, is easy access off of Keo Way, just south of I-235 and North and is located where Owen Crist Towing used to be.

I specifically asked if there was anything I should do or if I should tell a coach I was new and was told not to worry about it. My first class was really confusing, I was pretty lost, and I just kind of tried to follow what others in the class were doing. I felt silly and super embarrassed the whole time. I did see demonstrations of the exercises, but I hadn't worked out in a long time and was told to do squats at 80% of a one rep max. I didn't know what mine was, there was no one else on the squat rack to spot or anything, so I picked a weight I had done a long time ago. I was trying to just keep up with everyone and do the exercises the best I could. I ended up in a lot of pain with a back injury and could barely walk; I'm a pain management nurse and I was having BAD symptoms and needed prescription meds to be able to work. I was told to take 10-14 days off. Hannah did offer to meet with me at another class to talk, I was just too scared to go back in, I don't trust myself to be able to figure it out. That one class will cost me around $500. I think the classes would be AMAZING if you are in shape and know what you're doing. The programming seems fun and switches up pretty frequently. I wish I could have made it to that point!

This location opened summer 2025 and the draw for us was the price and the hours of operation…read more Mondays open at 5am then stay all the way open 24/7 till Friday nights at 11pm when they close, Saturdays & Sundays 7am-9pm. A lot of space, lots of options for lifting, cardio, tread machines, stair climbers, bikes and so much more! They offer classes and have a child care department. Everyone's feedback will be different depending on what time you head to the gym. Naturally the times you go during the week after 5pm it'll be more packed than at 5am. For us, early morning is best! Most of the "regulars" recognize each other and pretty respectful of each other and the gym. We couldn't give 5 stars because 1) the smith machine area and free weight area is usually pretty dusty and dirty. The top of the cabinet next to the smith machines and the top of the machines themselves never get wiped down and it's not vacuumed in that area either. The AC and fans blow the dust around and can make working out a bit challenging when breathing in all that dust. A quick vacuum to the baseboards and around the machines and dumbbell racks would go a long way; 2) they do not monitor people vaping in the gym or smoking right outside the gym doors. A fitness center like this pushes health and wellness - but hard to do that when they continually allow people to vape in the gym (regardless of whether you think that has an affect on those around them or not - it doesn't matter - this type of activity needs to be done outside of the gym). People also have lit up as soon as they leave the gym doors and all that cigarette smoke gets blown right back into the gym. We would've given less stars but they have two staff members that has made our times at Crunch Fitness so much better: Robert (trainer who is there early in the morning) and Logan who is also there in the early mornings! Robert is quick to help and answer any questions we have - and is never pushy about signing up for training. He provides your options and allows you the space to decide what's best for you. Logan is one of the hardest working guys we see at gyms like this. He's always cleaning, we see him refilling the paper towels regularly and always keeping an eye out for the safety of those using the gym while we're there! He's the only one besides Robert that has made an effort to remember our names and is genuinely concerned when they don't see us for a few days. Nice to see people who genuinely care in an industry like this! Hopefully Crunch Fitness will recognize these men for going above and beyond!
