I took a day off from biking central Oregon and stayed in Prineville. The Crossroads BBQ Pit & Pub was directly next to my hotel. So I thought I'd check out the reviews; which were a total mixed bag. I decided to try the place anyway. First, dinner at the bar. Service was great, friendly. The Northwest Salad was very nice; though not like a typical Northwest salad that I'd had before. All in all, very nice meal. Next day I went there for breakfast; again, very good service, the food came out quickly, and was very good. Went back for dinner; similar experience: very good service, got my food quickly and the meal was great. Next morning, back for breakfast, before biking to Bend. Same experience. Prices were reasonable as well. If I'm every in Prineville again, I'd definitely go there again. read more

So... service was okay. Ordered the Tri-Tip combo with pork ribs and my wife got the same but with Beef ribs. First thing we noticed was an incredibly over cooked baked potato and not good enough to even eat. Tried the Tri tip roast and it was very chewy and the hickory sauce was meh. My wife said the honey BBQ sauce was okay but did like the beef ribs. The veggies were cold. We were a bit surprised how empty the restaurant was but now we may understand. Ate here for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast service was fast and friendly. The Spanish omelette was good. The corned beef has was better but the potatoes were dry (used the salsa from the omelette to fix the potatoes). Dinner Service was adequate, especially since it was busy and at times only one person working the bar side of the business. We had prawns fettuccine and St Louis style pork ribs. The Alfredo sauce was one of the best we've had anywhere. The prawns were nice sized. The ribs were moist and well smoked - so tender that the meat fell off the bones. The sauce was not overpowering and the fries were good. It will take an improvement to their vegetables to get a fifth star from me. The broccoli florets were mushy - probably frozen. read more

Great people, great staff, nice place. The food is good, the drinks are well priced and a great value Centrally located and plenty of comfortable seating. The only issue is that I have been to the bar side 4 times now (Restaurant side and Bar side are completely seperate from each other) and have never gotten proactive service. Each time it took over 10 minutes (not exaggerating at all) to get acknowledged by a server. That includes the last two times when I sat directly at the bar. Every time I went it was relatively early, around 4pm, and there were between 3 - 8 total customers in the entire bar. But once you get service (recognition) then the service is great, the servers are amazing, etc. I'll update to 5 stars if the service becomes more proactive in the future. read more

I have never been to Prineville before. We are here for the State Basketball Tournament. We passed by this place and decided to stop. I ALWAYS read reviews and look at the food pictures, this time it was after we got here. There are some tough reviews which is what drove me to leave my own review. We sat in the bar, the service was OUTSTANDING. I barely took a seat and our waitress (Jessica) was walking over with menus and took our drink order. We ordered smoked prime rib, loaded baked potato and veggies. The food was really GOOD, hot, and very generous portions. My husband and I split the meal and this was my half. Trying local places is definitely our thing. We're preparing to head out of state for vacation in a day so we decided to grab some to go food for dinner at 8 pm at night. We hadn't tried Crossroads yet and thought, "why not?". BBQ sounded good and it's right down the toad from our home. We ordered the Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Fried Zucchini. With the brisket we ordered a baked potato, with the pulled pork we ordered the garlic potatoes, and the zucchini came with its own sides of ranch. The brisket? Very chewy and seemed old. The meat itself looked metallic like and the sauce was gelatinous like it had been sitting forever. The pulled pork? Again, very chewy like it had been sitting for a while. Same BBQ sauce for everything, not much spice. The amount of brisket we received was something to laugh at after paying $50. We ordered food at 5 to 8, weren't given a time when it would be done and when we arrived at 8:10 it was miraculously finished and all boxed, bagged, ready to go. Local restaurants are our go to but they need to be trying at least a little bit. Old, over cooked meat with minimal portions is a true tried way of losing interest. I appreciate the lack of styrofoam to go containers and your zucchini chips were great. The food you're named for "BBQ" could definitely use some work. The First thing that comes to mind at a BBQ Pit, is Meat and BBQ, well in this case they Got the Pit part Right. The First thing we were greeted with was a their special for the day for over $20.00 plus dollars and not BBQ, right around the corner we had a empty restaurant with an employee on their phone as we stopped for the sign saying please wait to be seated. To my shock the employee promptly walked over to another employee to let her know people had come in. Even though the restaurant looked clean and inviting, and one other customer was there already eating, it was empty. The waitress was nice and friendly, as we took our time to order, we had our hearts set on BBQ, However looking through the menu there wasn't much offered. we saw salad for $15.00 plus, even a macaroni and cheese for about $16.00 and add $3.00 if you wanted bacon, ham or chicken to be added. Not being sure of what we had seen so far, we did decide to play it safe and order on the lighter side. After about a 35 to 40 minute wait we received our chicken strips and a French dip, reasonable prices for some good food, or so we thought... Unfortunately we ended up with a plate full of French Fries with three little children strips that only took up a small end of the plate, and a French Dip that forgot to put actual Aus Ju in the cup, it was little more than warm water, tasteless and greasy. I tried to eat the meat and cheese on the French dip, however it actually had an awkward flavor for the Swiss cheese, not sure what was wrong with the cheese, and there wasn't much meat on there and to be honest it was cut up so fine that it was had to tell what kind of meat I was actually eating. On a good note however it would seem that the bar was entertaining more guests than the Restaurant, makes sense, considering you would probably have to be drunk to enjoy the food and pay those kinda prices, for barely any actual food. read more

The one star is for good service. This is the worst restaurant in Prineville. We have tried it twice and been disappointed both times. Today we tried breakfast. The eggs were rubber, the hash browns too crispy (not requested) and the English muffin had fake butter. The strawberry Belgian waffle was undercooked and the strawberries were a compote and not fresh. McDonalds serves a better breakfast. They were crispy, but a bit overcooked too. The sandwich was boring. I could have made the same sandwich at home and have it taste better. The cheese was an American cheese slice that tasted much like Kraft. The meat was smaller portion and tasted like it was pulled from a store container. We had an early breakfast there while waiting for the eclipse. Super friendly fast service, good coffee refilled often. The portions were generous, and when they say "smothered" in gravy they're not kidding. The place is squeaky clean, Western-ish with a friendly family vibe. My omelet must have weighed a pound and a half and it tasted good, but unfortunately it was cooked to paranoid USDA guideline, that is bone-dry. I get that some people are somehow concerned about egg safety, but I like my omelets soft with a creamy core as the Creator intended. Sausage links were very good. Hash browns, on the other hand, were cooked almost al dente. The bill was reasonable considering that we ate enough food to last us until dinner. Crossroads seemed like our best bet for a decent 7 am breakfast in Prineville, OR, and it may not have dazzled but it hit the spot and didn't disappoint. read more
