From pre made book boxes to book marks, coffee mugs, tshirts/sweatshirts, blankets, ornaments, crafts, puzzles - the list goes on and on! The space is also STUNNING! It's the perfect girlie vibe for the female reader and I'm so here for it. There is so much Taylor Swift merch I could die of happiness. Their staff were also so friendly. I went to buy a book box and all they had left were Taylor swift, YA, and travel boxes but they said if I message them on social media they can always update me on what they have available for that week. Run, don't walk, to the CUTEST book store in all the land with every book need you'll ever have!

They had a nice selection of carefully curated books for reading enthusiasts. The selection is small relative to bookstores like McKays, but this spot definitely has community first and small businesses energy that makes you feel good. It is also not overly cluttered and there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy the environment on sofas. When I shopped here, they had a bunch of mystery date with a book set, but many of them had sold out. When I asked if they had a particular genre, they were able to communicate with the person in the back to assemble one on the spot so I could purchase it. The set was super cute with bookmarks, stickers, and a book wrapped in paper. Definitely a fun gift to give clever and the genre is written on the front. I would definitely recommend incorporating this spot into a cute downtown date. Stopping by this bookstore and picking something out, then going to Kyle's coffee to chat would be a fantastic afternoon out. Great little spot!

Having a Starbucks on premises is a nice touch. As other Yelpers have noted, unfortunately this location has felt it necessary to add numerical code locks to the restrooms. I understand the reasoning behind it, but the logistics of needing to use the restroom at the back of the store then needing to traverse to the front of the store to get the code, and back again, is asking a lot and will cause my visits to be cut short.

The discount and earned rewards are worth the cost of membership. I could spend all day there, perusing the various things that interest me. I am not happy with their change to adding a code to get into the bathroom. I realize they had issues with homeless people misusing the bathroom, but as a rectal cancer survivor, I don't have the time to hunt for an employee to get the code. I was literally seconds away from a bowel accident today, then had to turn around and find an employee. I was lucky, there was a guy shelving books close to the bathrooms. What if he hadn't been there, though? If I had to walk to the customer service desk or the register to get the code, I would have definitely had an accident. My suggestion to anybody that has bathroom issues, or small children, ask for the code as soon as you walk in the door. That way, you don't have to hunt for an employee and risk accidents. That is what I will be doing from now on.

We came to hear Queen Elsa host a story time event. She read Frozen and a Llama Llama book. My children loved it! And afterwards we spent over an hour just walking around and exploring. Everywhere you look is a handwritten note about a book, some mystical creature coming out of the walls, or a typewriter waiting for a story to unfold. The top floor even hosts a puzzle table and nooks to cuddle up and read. The children's section is simply magical. My kids would have stayed for hours if I let them. The pricing is also fair and the owner is a gem. She even has a little bookshop dog that greets everyone, Chestnut.

I intend on contacting the Better Business Bureau.

The building served as a feed-and-seed store, a record store and a used-appliance store. The bookstore opened in 2013, and its extensive renovation preserved the exposed brick walls and the high pressed-tin ceilings. They added hand-carved bookcases. The walls are olive green, and the original windows let in plenty of natural light. The store was named after the scuppernong grape, the North Carolina state fruit. The store's "fox and grape" motif, visible on its signs and literature, is also a nod to Aesop's fables. The bookstore is cozy and welcoming, with areas to lounge and even a seating bar at the front of the store. The bookstore carries new and used books, with a good variety. You will find banned books and many about social justice. The store has stood up to censorship. The genres are clearly marked, and it is easy to browse and shop. They even have staff picks with reviews. I like that North Carolina authors are featured. The store partners with other local businesses. The cafe has coffees, teas, wines and craft beers. They have pastries from Loaf Bakery and Swedebread. The sandwiches are from Jerusalem Market. The specialty teas come from Vida Pour Tea. Service here is welcoming, helpful and low-pressure. They let you browse without following you around so you can take your time and explore. I highly recommend visiting Scuppernogg Books if you are looking for a local business to support or just like visiting old buildings. In the digital age, it is so nice to connect with others and actually browse the shelf to find my next read. I loved the banned books, as I am always curious as to what they don't want me reading.
