Jordan along with Habitat founders Millard and Linda Fuller developed the concept of partnership housing. Those in need of shelter would work side by side with volunteers to build affordable homes at no profit. House payments would be combined with no interest loans provided by supporters which would then be used to build more homes. In 1973, the Fullers took their house building concept to Zaire where they worked for three years. They then returned to the United States and founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn became involved and raised awareness. Habitat is now in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. They have helped 29 million people be able to afford safe shelter. In 1991 Habitat for Humanity launched the concept of the ReStore in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1992 the first Habitat for Humanity restore opened in the U.S. in Austin Texas. The ReStores accept donations from the community and home improvement stores and then resells the items to the public at a discounted price. The profit from the ReStore supports the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. This store in Palm Bay is part of the Space Coast Habitat for Humanity. They have helped 575 families in 37 years and they are designated as a Veteran Build affiliate serving the veterans in the community. They support programs for home ownership and home preservation through zero-interest mortgages, volunteer labor, and community support. I love supporting Habitat for Humanity and stop in the thrift stores whenever I can. This store was large and clean with a mixture of new and gently used items. They had furniture, home goods, home improvement items, and more. My favorite find was a vintage Capodimonte porcelain mirror vanity with perfume bottle. They operate one main no kill animal shelter for adoptions and four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops that provide financial support to the organization. They also run a Spay and Neuter Clinic, a low cost clinic to provide affordable health care options, and the Heavenly Paws Chapel to provide compassionate care to those who have lost a pet. During a recent visit to Palm Bay, I was able to visit Molly Mutt IV. They also have locations in Melbourne, Rockledge, and Merritt Island. The store was clean and well organized. During my visit they were having a sale on handbags. Other items they sell include clothes, home goods, collectibles, holiday decorations, furniture, books, records, silver, toys, jewelry, pet supplies, and more. There are two full rooms to explore. I love any charity that helps animals. I found the prices to be fair and the proceeds go to a wonderful charity. Please consider donating to and shopping at Molly Mutt.

Unfortunately, the donation area required carrying everything up a flight of steps, which is very difficult for us. I knocked on the door to ask for assistance. The woman who answered seemed irritated that I had interrupted her, was rude, and appeared very reluctant to help. She eventually brought out cardboard boxes for us to transfer our donations into and, again reluctantly, helped us. Since the quilts and drapes could easily be damaged by rain, I suggested they might want to move the boxes inside. She simply shut the door. The experience left us feeling unwelcome and unappreciated. Donations are given freely by people who are trying to help, and a little kindness goes a long way. All I can say is that the customer service needs to be upgraded. Everyone was yelling back-and-forth for something. The people running the front were yelling at the people at the back to get a bike and it really was a little offputting. The lady running the front did apologize for the noise. I've purchased several name brand items including: GAP, Pink, Hollister, American Eagle, Calvin Klein, etc. Conditions of clothing range from good to new. Rarely have I ever spotted an item that's just "acceptable". I purchased 4 fall/winter jackets for myself and my husband last week (on half price clothing day), and paid less than $20 For all 4!!! AMAZING!!! THEY WERE ALL IN SUPERB CONDITION!!! The staff here is the best in the area. This shop seems to have evolved in so many ways recently. I'm so pleased with it's turned into. Even their window displays are cute, and were designed with a lot of thought. I myself am an artist, and can pick up on the vibes that there are employees here with clever eyes for design and organization. You can find higher end items in their little boutique area (front left) along with kitchenware, clothing, shoes, home goods, furniture (including full framed beds), and several books to chose from!!! My experience is going to be different than most but it was a positive one…read more My wife passed away almost two years ago and last year I had been driving around with all her clothes and shoes not wanting to let anything go. I saw this place and felt, this was it. I ran inside to ask if they took donations and they said yes and to drive along the side of the building. I pulled up my SUV and asked if I could be alone while I did this and the sweet lady hugged me and said yes. I didn't hesitate and felt at ease with this thrift shop and prayed that all her beautiful clothes and shoes would bless the right people and that they too would look lovely in them. I will never go back to this thrift anytime soon for it was for a purpose. However, GO! They had some great things and prices at affordable prices. Godspeed!

The thrift stores provide affordable shopping for the community, while the proceeds support the church's outreach ministries and local missions. They also partner with other community charities by sharing donated items with organizations in need. This thrift store was much larger inside than it first appeared with several rooms to explore, On the day I visited, all furniture was 50% off, and clothing was just $3 per item, with many marked down even further. I ended up finding a few pieces to take home. What I loved most about this thrift store was its charitable spirit. Near the front entrance, they have a community food pantry where anyone can leave nonperishable food items or take what they need. This is such a caring gesture for the community.
