I have lived in the area pretty much my whole life and never made it to this adorable farmers market. As I was passing by one day, I saw a sign advertising a Craft Beer and Arts Festival. I love both plus I love farms! I bought a ticket on their website and was excited to attend. The day of the event, was a glorious late September day for this outdoor gathering. It was a bit confusing to decipher how to enter and when I presented the ticket via cell phone to verify my purchase, the crew was confused. Luckily, I did print a confirmation as well and was quickly given my tickets for 2 craft beers of my choice from the many vendors. There were also tickets available to purchase for the petting zoo which I totally bought. The farm is pretty spacious and the cute little "country store" packs a lot for very reasonable prices. I walked around looking at the hardworking employees still tending to the crops amongst the festivities. They all said hello as I walked by. I got my craft brew and sipped it as I kinda explored the grounds. It is amazing that this place exists so close to home. Freshness right next door! Crossroads Farm has greenhouses, live chickens, and pretty much everything that is in season. Pumpkins and beautiful flowers. I loved the store. It was small but so many homemade, organic and different fruits and veggies you could imagine! I purchased an incredibly delicious, huge pretzel-rolly thing that I couldn't wait to devour. I also bought something called Ground Cherries which on the sign said a mix between cherries and tomatoes in this little husk skin thing. I didn't like the taste, but so happy I tried this cool thing I had never seen before! There was live music, food trucks, the petting zoo which I loved (spent a good portion of my time in there.) This place just had a great vibe. Bringing families out, friends just to have a local outdoor good time. I will not be a stranger to Crossroads. I think I found another new happy place! read more

My blood family and I got bacterial food poisoning from their fruits. I would advise you to think twice before buying their fruit. Specifically the watermelon, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cantaloupe. read more

First time coming here & it's for Shakespeare in The Park/Farm. What an adorable place! I've driven past it SO many times on the way to family but never stopped by. The live music before the show was great and the food they provided for guests was really fresh (farm to table)! The woman organizing the event was really friendly & helpful. Especially when I needed water and couldn't find any! Will absolutely be back! read more

One of the most poorly organized and worst farmer's markets I've been to. I occasionally stop by here but this place seems to never get any better, which is both disappointing and sad. Vendors seem to come and go as they please, the organizers never answer emails, the volunteers were completely overwhelmed and confused. I had pre-ordered some items and no one there had set aside any of the things I requested and I never got my orders. Worst of all, there was a huge crowd of people nearly shoulder to shoulder, long lines and absolutely no space. It was astonishing to see, like everyone seemed to forget why we have been sitting home for 5+ weeks. Like one of the other reviews mentioned some of the people here seem to think they're doing you a favor and don't have much customer service skills, if you can get their attention at all. Too many other options like CSA or other farmer's market to come back. I'm glad this space has been preserved but it's not worth it to go to the market, don't risk your health. read more

The fresh veggies are great and the people usually nice. However, all of the plants they sell are in plastic pots. I pointed out to them that there are now many options for pots that go directly into the ground but they were not very receptive. Others that sell there are a mixed bag as to how green they are. If a farmer's market is not concerned about the environment, who will be? I was surprised and disappointed. read more

I found this store on the newspaper and very very excited to visit. And yesterday I finally did. I picked A pie from the sign says "fresh Baked". I was very much excited to have it with my family. I even bought ice cream to go with. After dinner, I opened it and found mold on it. I know food, especially when it is organic, it is very easy to go bad but I wish they had freshly baked ones as sign says. Today I went back to the store and showed it to the worker. She refund all money back. But she only said Sorry about that without no emotion. I hope she could be little more sincere. I was very disappointed about the service. Food truck rodeo. You have to be kidding. When I arrived the people in the farm stand couldn't tell me what trucks were there. Fish fry, empanadas.burgers and ice cream. And that was it four trucks! Food was ok,but I think it was false advertising. read more

Stopped at the farm with Dad and our lab, Daisy. The kind, friendly staff let us take our pup on a walk through the farm... She even got to meet the chickens! We purchased a few unique flowers to plant and some delicious tomatoes and kale chips. We'll be back to buy more produce and goodies as the crops become available. Following a long period of disuse, the farmland at Grossmann's is once again providing local residents and the community with fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as various plants, flowers, pies and apple cider. I'm not sure exactly why the farm went unused for so long, but I know there was some debate about what to do with the land. There was talk of razing the land to build an apartment complex, but obviously that option was dismissed in favor of a refurbished Grossmann's. The powers that be couldn't have made a better choice. Not only does the farm assist Malverne in holding onto that quaint small town image, it also gives residents another option for buying produce. Rather than traveling to your local supermarket and picking your canned and frozen veggies from the shelf, you can go to Grossmann's and see the actual food growing from the ground. With all of the mystery surrounding the food industry in America, there is something special and refreshing about going to your local farm and having the opportunity to purchase fresh fruits and veggies that are grown nearby or directly on the premises. This takes away the baffling question: "Where does my food come from?" Next time you are in the area, make the effort to visit the farm. Definitely worth a trip. read more

This farm is extremely overpriced and mislabels the price of their products. There was a sign directly hanging above a plant I purchased, when thy charged me more at the register and I pointed it out, they refused to honor their advertised price. Customer service 101, people. Last time my family or I will be shopping at crossroads. Hope the $5 was worth losing 8 clients. read more

This is literally the only organic farm for miles, with the right resources and management the place could flourish. Literally a small part of the farm is used for cultivation and all that unused space could be used for chickens or more vegetables or something. The intention of an organic non-profit is great but it needs to be executed differently. read more

As the last vestiges of open space in Nassau County have vanished, and Nassau has become one large continuous suburb with no clear boundaries between towns, it is simply a miracle that this small farm has been saved by Nassau County and is transformed into a small operating farm committed to growing food in a sustainable manner. Sure the prices are high, but that is the true cost of food, when you weed by hand, and when you don't rely on chemical fertilizer and pesticides. At the risk of sounding like an unabashed romantic, just knowing that this farm is there, that it hasn't been paved over and transformed into a sub division graced with soulless townhouses puts a huge smile on my face, and Malverne still feels like a charming main street, with a small movie theater and a one track railroad running through its center. Long live Crossroad farms, and kudos to the visionaries who have helped preserve this space. read more
