While I've recommended him to a lot of people in person, I have been slacking on writing Tony a Yelp review, but first off: I've looked around A LOT and Tony's fee-based services are by far more affordable than the less desirable options. There are plenty of unqualified people out there calling themselves "financial planners." Tony on the other hand is a CFP, EA (Certified Financial Planner and Enrolled Agent), and a fiduciary. I spent some time looking up why that is important so you don't have to: In order to be certified by the CFP board, your financial planner must submit to the rigorous CFP Certification process that includes education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. Tony is a fiduciary, which basically this means that Tony puts your best interests ahead of his when planning your finances and investing your money. Tony Chan is a very polite, personable, and genuine professional. He helped me to navigate the sea of financial confusion I was swimming in after graduate school. We have met a few times in person and communicated regularly via email. I trust Tony implicitly with my finances, taxes, and retirement plan. Got my refund faster than expected - thanks to Crossroads! When I met with Tony, who is also the owner of the company, he explained to me that he wanted to go into a bit more detail than just quickly filing my taxes. He ended up explaining to me all the various aspects of what he does and the job of his partners and associates. We went over fundamental differences between what each individual does and why their service is really top notch. After going through all of that, he then began to ask about me, my family, and my personal life. He actually took the time to find out who I am in order to better assist me. Traditionally, I've been getting my tax returns done through the military (active duty soldiers are given free tax services, but sometimes the quality thereof may be questionable) and have also used H&R Block twice. I originally tried to file with Turbo Tax but the numbers didn't quite add up so I figured I should go with a professional.
