After a Yelp search, to find a tax expert to assist with my unpaid federal taxes, and other worries, it took about 5 minutes before I received a response from Joe. I prefer to hire people who are paying attention to their own accounts as he did. Joe is charming and reassuring. Over the phone, he explained everything he would need from me and told me what to expect from him. He shared how he would help, providing best and worst case scenario. And a timeline. Joe moved away from California, but does return regularly as he's a Ducks fan and has season tickets. He may have been worth the price he quoted. I don't know. The two other quotes I got were more than 50% less than what he quoted. It does not make sense for me to pay 2x as much for somebody living in another state to do my taxes. I am writing this review because after and despite my explaining to him and his colleague why I would not be utilizing their services, I began receiving daily prompts to sign a contract. Went to H&R Block prior to calling him. They told me for what I needed it was going to be $99 per year. This man is wanted to charge me $1000 per year. I'm honestly shocked that there are no other reviews about his prices. I called my friend who's a tax specialist. She also specializes in helping those who owes taxes and she told me my situation isn't expensive since I only have w2s and don't owe anything so she doesn't know why he quoted me this much. Please reconsider people. I wouldn't want you to get ripped off. Response to his comment below: I clearly specified that it was an amended tax return because I missed one w2 form. And also specified I'm an educator and don't make much. After consulting with my friend, I was disgusted that I was quoted so much for something that doesn't cost much. You can call H&R Block and they will tell you the amended form is $99. I continued to call other places and was not quoted this much. This is why I decided to write this review. I've never made a review like this but I'm truly trying to save people from spending so much money. Okay, this review is a long time coming. I help run an animal rescue and before the lockdown our treasurer quit. Needless to say with Covid, lockdowns and general craziness we neglected to file our 2019 taxes and when we did hire someone in 2020 to catch us up they didn't do anything. Our taxes just sat on his desk because he was confused about how to properly file taxes for a 501(c)3. It wasn't until we received a letter from the IRS suspending our 501(c)3 status in 2022 that we realized we had a huge problem. We thought it was an impossible situation, but we met with and consulted with Joe. Joe not only filed our 2019-2022 taxes but he also helped us get our 501(c)3 reinstated with the IRS. I was dealing with addiction in my thirties and didn't pay taxes for 3 years and it all caught up with me. IRS wanted their money $74k(about 30k was penalties and interest) now and froze my checking account. Levied my paycheck. Joe was able to resolve that in 1 day!!! I'm willing to pay back the taxes but IRS wouldn't work out affordable payment plan. Joe was able to work out a payment I could afford while paying my bills. $1500 per month instead of $3000. Super awesome sums up my experience here. I called last minute to file my taxes. Most of his appts were taken but he made an exception for my fiance and I because we work weekends. He scheduled an earlier time than his business hours. It's out of his home but he has a nice business space set up. We were in and out within an hour. He tried to explain some of things to me but I didn't quite understand...but that's just because I'm noob at this type of thing. Everything is set up in files that he sends through email, which is also great and easy to access. Overall great guy, awesome service. It also came out cheaper than the first quote! Last year was the first year i had to file a 1099 along with my W2 as i started doing photography/videography. I was very upset and dissatisfied with my tax consultant last year. If you use turbo tax just drop it and come to Joe. He did an amazing job helping me organize stuff. He's very to the point so no bsing and he explained things my husband and I had questions about. This year's taxes was way confusing for us cause of how many more items we had to file. I literally brought every document that I felt was tax related and have it to Joe. He organized and filed everything electronically and even has a convenient feature that allows you to upload documents and share automatically online with him. This actually works for years to come as well which is great. He even went over new tax laws that's have changed and how it effects us for next year and what to expect. It's not fair to see all these 5 star reviews here, it certainly misled me. As you can see by my profile I leave 5 star reviews 90% of the time, it's very rare that I leave bad reviews. But alas I had a really crappy experience. I called Joe several months ago and asked him to do my taxes, he falsely assumed I was just trying to ask some questions without looking for an accountant, and basically treated me like crap. I agree with Susan's review that he can be condescending. I tried to be very polite to him, and I am a very polite and compassionate person (I told him I was a vegetarian for sometime, he balked the he would never give up meat). Anyway, his prices and service seemed reasonable, if he's not an asshole to you, perhaps you'll find good service, but to me, it was a terrible experience. I consciously didn't leave this review because I strive to be compassionate and merciful even though these were my thoughts for months, but now as I am searching for an accountant again (after filing an extension), and seeing this guy pop up on the results, I feel it's time to share my experience. read more

This is an update. I paid Joe to finalize my taxes for one of my businesses that I decided to close. The tax preparer that I hired beforehand overpaid the IRS and so I had money that needed to be refunded. Long story short, I booked with Joe to take care of everything. That was earlier this year. I still hadn't received the refund and the IRS now sends me a notice saying the taxes weren't received. I contact Joe, he said he would check into it. Seems there was a misunderstanding... We shall see what happens. I'm distrustful and skeptical at this point because I really don't know what happened... I'll update this review because I have an appointment with him this weekend.
