I love buying and selling secondhand. It's always a treasure hunt. I particularly love this store. Everyone is so nice and chatty and helpful. Daya recognizes me when I come in, whether with my kid or not and is a friendly face that makes me feel genuinely happy to come back and shop. Daya is always dressed to impress! And that why when I'm trying clothes on and I'm unsure, I always come out to ask about fit and style and if I should purchase what I'm trying on or not. They are always honest (which I really appreciate) and I legit can't wait to come back to shop. In store shopping is way more fun for me than online. I've purchased pieces that will definitely be in my closet for the long haul without breaking the bank! Because either I've sold things that's no longer fit me or because it's much cheaper (or both!) When selling, they don't buy everything, but communication and asking questions always helps so I know what to bring in next time. I'd consider myself a regular... but I'm sure there are people that go there way more often than me!! read more

I prefer Crossroads over some of the other nearby resellers. I haven't sold them anything so I'm speaking only as a shopper. I find their store to be slightly more organized, with room to move stuff around on the rack, and shoes organized by size. The staff is polite, though they're too busy to go above and beyond. It's still a hunt to find something that fits, in your style, at a decent price. But that's the fun of shopping secondhand right? And at least here you don't have to dig. read more

This is my favorite thrift store in Portland. The selection is always great and the staff is amazing. Daya truly blessed me today! I had been eyeing this jacket for a while and it sold before I could buy it. Today I saw the same jacket and the tag no longer said 1/2 off, I asked Daya if she possibly knew if this was a mistake or just the wrong tag or something and she took the time to check and see that while it was a new jacket, not the one I had seen technically since that one sold, that they were able to price it back down to half off for me. I am truly grateful. And also idk anywhere else that regularly has Snow Peak, Brain Dead, Palace, Nike ACG, and other great brands at great prices. read more

I'm leaving a review as someone who has sold here and let me tell you I had the worst experience yet and will never go back. The girl who was looking at my clothes was laughing at what was in there (while I was walking around waiting), which made me uncomfortable. Then when she finally picked the items she wanted to buy, it was a grand total of 25 dollars (which is the lowest I have ever been offered). This was for a brand new banana republic purse, a palace button up, and some other brand name jeans. I decided not to sell to them since I would profit more from my depop. It's crazy how picky they can be when they sell some of the ugliest pieces and how much they low ball you. I have never felt so uncomfortable from a group of workers and will never go back here again. read more

While waiting 2 hours to sell my clothes they ended up only taking 4 items. I come home and think to myself, "well how come they didn't take more since I had two full bags". Come to find out they didn't look at any of the clothes. Everything was all folded and put where they were when I went through them before dropping them off. I came to sell clothes and overall impressed with the process. Unlike typical stores there is an iPad where you can sign up and view how many people are waiting to sell. When signing up there is an option to either be called by name or receive a text. I would recommend the text option as you can explore other places around Hawthorne and you just need to return with 15 minutes of receiving the text that they were ready for you. Next they will speak with you and set up an account and then begin to look at your pieces which would now be a great time to look around the store. Finally you will be called back and your pieces will have their price tags to show how much they would sell it for which I preferred so when hearing the cash and store credit offers I have actual numbers to reference. I had 2 Nike shoes and t shirt that the total store price was around 140 so I received around 70 dollars in store credit. The pricing was extremely fair as I found a Tasmanian T Shirt for 17 and Nike Pegasus 40 for 28. Using Google Image search it turns out the Tasmanian shirt if currently on Forever 21 for 19 dollars and on eBay the Pegasus were going for above 80. I did not use all my store credit so I was asked if I would like to cash out, which would be lower than the remaining store credit, or keep on my account. Would recommend as a place to shop and sell your old clothes. read more

Wednesday night....I had two Jordans and two Versace items. They were busy as I left them at the counter and ordered a drink next door at Nicks while I waited. After 15-mins I walked back making sure I was okay given they were closing in 45-mins. Communicating I was next door having a drink. They took my number as I would be texted. As it was 10-mins to their closing I went back to find the man that arrived after me (he had three bags) to have his items examined before mine. Saying nothing I looks at things then when had opportunity- asked if I was next. The cashier called on somebody as she asked me if anyone had helped me, they hadn't. Whether the manager or inventory take-in lead (whatever the position) asked how much I have had to drink. I had a gin or and soda with the lime and half a beer while waiting next door. She refused my sale and said to come back next day when sober. Out of the four re-sale stores in this area's Xroads was my favorite. However, their selection has honestly suffered since Covid - they were my number one. To conclude, I will never step foot in here again. read more

Was there right when they opened to sell some clothes. (Which they really don't have a good selection or quantity post covid.) Sales associate buying my clothes was talking about their new hair extensions to their co worker, and had to flick their hair after looking at every one of my items. As with most consignment/second-hand shops in Portland, Crossroads offers an interesting assortment of clothes that are not only hip, but affordable and various in style. Know what you're getting into before you come, ie. you'll be sifting through racks. I came just to peruse but walked out with a really nice top for $16, which after googling, came from a company that sells $150 shirts of that type, and I also got a pair of chelsea boots that were originally $295 for $33. Maybe the prices are skewing my vote, but I was really excited about the purchase. In terms of service, the staff were really kind and helpful - they answered all of my questions and assisted in removing a tag which was put at a weird angle that prevented me from trying the item on. When I'm back in Portland, I'll definitely be coming back to make some more fashion finds! read more

If you're here to shop, then it's a decent store. I usually find a few things I like each time I'm in. I have noticed that in the recent couple of years the quality of items has dwindled. If you're here to sell, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I am so upset about my selling experience today. I've sold a few times so I know what to expect. I wait, they go through the items, they tell me what they'll give me, and I move on with my day. Before I leave, I always ask what was taken because before I sign away my items I like to make sure that they've given an evaluation that I think is relatively fair. I understand it's not going to be close to full price; that is generally how buy/sell/trade shops operate. However today, I had a designer bag in my suitcase full of items to sell that was worth about $200. When I asked what was purchased they did not tell me this was included in their $70 store credit/$40 cash evaluation. That's complete bullshit. They showed me the list in the computer and they did not list the item for what it was which was a Michael Kors backpack. That is completely deceptive and obviously I would not have let them take an MK bag + Zara clothing for such a low price. I will not be returning. read more

Was in a few days ago and the employees were extremely rude to me. I was looking at some sneakers on the wall and in the case. Asked to look at a Jordan 3, and instead of nicely asking me to point out which one I was talking about, the employee told me in a harsh tone "ok well I don't know what that is". When looking at the shoes in the case, I had to awkwardly stand there holding a shoe because the employee who had taken it out for me walked away and ignored me and I was unable to put it back because she had locked the case. Eventually another employee came over and I asked if I could see the size label inside one of the other shoes inside the case. The display sign was labeled with women's sizing, but they were youth shoes I wanted to double check the size conversion. The employee aggressively stated for me to just look at the sign, but eventually let me look at the actual shoe itself. Come to find out, the youth size was not equivalent to what the sign said, which is pretty important when you're trying to buy shoes in your size. As someone who has worked in retail before, it's honestly embarrassing to see employees treating their customers with disrespect. I don't feel like my questions and requests were overly complicated, and definitely not deserving of the response I got. While I did end up purchasing one item, I will not be coming back to this location in the future. Blonde girl who rang me up was the only one I interacted with that treated me well. read more

It seems like the store is not thriving and probably hurting for money. Went in today to sell clothes and noticed the inventory was very low. Also, no one in line to sell as was last summer. It appears they have stopped buying and portlanders are well aware. There used to be several people in line to sell now there is no wait because no one is selling here anymore. Don't waste your time here take your stuff to buffalo exchange, we made 50 there off the same clothes. So sad. You'll even do better at 2nd street across the way. I've been to this location twice and have scored some great items both times. Unlike Buffalo and other thrift stores, Crossroads seem to curate more higher end, indie, or unknown brands (i.e. Madewell, Everlane, Zara, etc.). Inventory differs every time based on the resell/trade received, season, and what's on trend. Yes, it may be a mish mash of things, and there's certainly a great deal of sifting through as items are organized based on general style and type, but I found that's typically the fun that comes with thrift shopping in the first place. If you're in a time crunch or not one to buy second hand, then this experience or store may not be for you. I generally have the most fun when I come without any expectations and with an open mind. Like other reviews, there definitely could be more expansion on sizes offered. From my visits, they seem to cater primarily to petite to medium sized figures... Fitting room available and they seem to be doing a good job enforcing hand sanitizing and cleaning after each customer use. read more

I went in on a sunny Sunday afternoon 1/19/20, without an appointment, with the understanding that I'll probably have to wait a long time. They were super busy, but had three buyers working through all the many customers. They bought everything I brought in, and 45 minutes later I walked out with $56.10 from stuff I'd probably just give to Goodwill. But here's the 5-stars -- they were SO nice, I mean like really nice. So nice that I had to compliment them on their friendliness. Retail is a hard job, especially when you're busy, and especially when you're saying no to a lot of items. I had been shopping/selling stuff here for years and am always excited when I'm in the area to stop by and drop some money. However today I was disheartened, disappointed and hurt to discover that they no longer have a woman's size XL area for any of their sections. Dresses? No. Pants? Nope. Tops? Nada. As a former resale employee I understand that types/sizes of clothing come and go, but for there to be not a single section anywhere was unacceptable. It's hard enough to accept your body for not being small, but it is devastating to go in somewhere you have been shopping at for years and essentially being told "you're too fat to be here anymore." read more

I believe the associate who helped me was named Veronika (not sure if the spelling is correct, but she was wearing blue/purple mascara and had pretty nails). She greeted me as I walked in and was so sweet right off the bat as I explained that it was my first time selling with them. Veronika walked me through each step of the selling process, and I appreciated her patience and kindness. I wasn't sure how busy they would be on a Saturday, but I only had one bag of clothes (7-10 items), and there were two people ahead of me when I checked in, so I was in and out in about 30 min. Shame on your staff that closed shop tonight 6/24! My teenage son raced to your store from Vancouver to have you remove the security tag YOU left on the weekend before. You had six people cashing out in line. You shushed him and cut him off didn't even let him explain to you the situation! he had a receipt and everything. It would've taken you 30 seconds to remove the security tag so he could wear the shirt he loved. now we will be back to return it for a cash refund. And will never spend another dime in your store. If the manager of your store has any common sense about business you'll seek out who it was and terminate her on the spot. :( read more

reason for the 2 star review is that they have very little plus size options here. The racks are only labeled up to L and they lump in anything that's L or above together. Makes it complicated & uncomfortable for anyone bigger to sift through and find their sizes. They are not inclusive & need to do a better job supplying clothes for plus size consumers as well. It's hard enough shopping big, please make it easier by having all XL and XXL clothes labeled on your racks! It's really that simple. read more

I've gotten some good finds here. It takes some digging but it's decently priced for the most part. My issue was with selling/trading. I brought in a huge bag of stuff that had items I planned on donating to goodwill across the street as well as specific items I was trying to sell/trade. I was told to sign in, give my number to be texted, and I asked to be called up when ready to only pull the items I was intending on selling. I waited over an hour with no text. I finally venture up to the front to check on the status and my bag just has a "pass" on it. It was a giant bag full of dkny, gap, banana republic with a few items from old navy and off brand stuff from random amazon purchases. They said they passed "bc old navy". When I said that there was barely any old navy the lady shrugged and walked away. So not only did I wait forever and no one contacted me (it's not such a big place that they couldn't see me waiting) but I feel as if they just looked at 2 items and made a decision. I've seen shitty, stained, f21 clothing being sold there. So I was incredibly frustrated that literally not one item was considered for trade. I now feel annoyed going in there. Especially when I see not so name brand items selling for $20+. Oh well. Luckily there's buffalo exchange. read more

I did a major closet purge to both my closets (the one in my room and the one in my study room). Took it to Crossroads (couple block radius from Red Light and Buffalo) and sold my winter stash. I read on the website that they are quite fond of current trends and favor brands like Free People, BCBG, H&M, etc. After they went through my stash, I left with $15.xx, leaving them with a leather jacket (xhiliaration) and a navy petticoat (free people). I wanted to haul the rest of my stuff to Buffalo but peering inside, I see that the line was wrapping around the store (yikes) with tons of people (guys and girls, old and young) holding onto their bags full of clothes to sell. I didn't feel like waiting so I went to Goodwill and just donated all my stuff. It's weird, every resell place will tell you that you get 35% of the retail value...but the retail value is really up to the entry-level buyer to determine. I browsed a bit in their store as a shopper, and I'm kinda glad they don't carry vintage stuff like Red Light and Buffalo, it makes browsing for current trends waaay easier. They have fashion from a few years ago as well as the most current fashions. read more

I found a shirt I really liked yesterday. So that's the good part. Hence, the extra star. The bad part: the cashier at the Hawthorne location clearly had a terrible cold, or flu. She sneezed on my bag, she sneezed again on the shirt I was buying, she proceeded to blow her nose in front of me, she didn't go and wash her hands, and then she handed me my germ-filled bag. Fun. I felt like this was an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and I was the Larry David character. If I had called her out on her sneezing-on-my-items-in-front-of-me, I'm sure *she* would've been offended and I would've looked like the big jerk. So I didn't say anything. I just accepted her germs and paid $17 for them. But when I got back to the car, I put the bag in the backseat (where it remains) and Purrell'd the heck out of my hands. People: Don't come to work when you're sick. If you HAVE to come to work when you're sick, wash your hands. A lot. If you sneeze, sneeze into your arms, not into the merchandise that you're selling. If you have to blow your nose during a transaction, say, "Excuse me," and then go wash your hands. I would gladly wait. I feel like I'm on a one-man anti-germ campaign here. Who's with me? read more

They should increase the volume of their voices and decrease the volume of the music. Every single employee was speaking too softly. I had to ask the fitting room attendant twice to repeat herself, then I came out it was a guy who I had to ask to repeat himself twice and same with the cashier. It was like they didn't believe me...maybe it's the music? I finally said to the cashier gently but firmly, "I'm slightly hard of hearing so you're going to have to speak up." She didn't respond and just kept going but fortunately, towards the end spoke up at a more audible volume. I would hate to be fully hearing impaired and shop at this store. For what it's worth, I'm glad they're not like other stores where they follow you around and pester you to start a fitting room, etc when you just want to be left alone. Need a happy medium. Got some good stuff though! And they need to fix that broken ass hook in one of their fitting rooms. read more

This is a great store but I was disheartened by the "living wage surcharge" notice. Just raise the prices like you would if any other cost of business went up. If your electric rates were raised, would you post something like this? I know doing business in Portland is expensive, but so is the cost of living. Even a studio starts at $1100 which would be 98 hours of work to pay at the new minimum wage and most places don't give their employees full time hours. I don't know what the solution is but I don't think it's shaming minimum wage workers or those looking out for them. read more

Stopped in at Crossroads, the Goodwill, and Buffalo Exchange this morning -- just looking/shopping, not selling. They have a lot of stuff in here, really packed. The racks too are close together so you'll have to squeeze by if someone is browsing an adjacent section. Some things are organized by color (sorta) and other things by size. Way in the back they had their "new arrivals" which on the whole seemed higher quality than a lot of the other things in stock. Saw many items (thruout the store) that I otherwise would've tried on but had tears or stains. Prices were OK.. lots of stuff 50% off tho. Left empty-handed today but like any thrift store I'm sure their selection changes over every so often. Would be willing to give it a second look maybe next season. read more

Great location, great clothes, great prices. Frank was able to undergo a wardrobe change here when a local asked him at a gas station "You're not from here, are you?" I just wished with alllllll my might that they had black shoes in my size. Oh woe is me :( Two pairs of jeans, a dress, two shirts, a jacket, and a crazy ring = $60 something bucks. All name brand, too. Frank even wanted to go back a couple times, which is pretty unheard of from him. He doesn't enjoy shopping for clothes, much less trying them on and creating outfits. We even hit up a Goodwill the next day per his request on our Portland adventure, but Crossroads had better prices and a better selection. PS If you must use the bathroom, you must go to a nearby drinkery (pub/bar/coffee shop). read more

I dropped off my stuff. It was a mix of designer shoes, clothes and purses. They told me to come back in an hour. When I did they offered me 120 dollars and showed me the items they wanted to keep. All of my stuff was in totes. They kept about one tote worth. I let them keep the tote. It wasn't until two months later when I moved I realized they had stolen a mini Prada backpack. Now, everyone knows you do not sell a 1,300 Prada for 120 dollars! It was not shown to me as a 'keep'. I returned to ask where my bag was (hopeful) and of course nobody knew anything. I still have my trade in credit and am so frustrated I don't even want to go back. I wish I had never gone in the first place. read more
