I don't think I've ever written a review in my life. Bought over $200 worth of clothes. One bra and shorts were defective - I washed per instructions and the color ended up bleeding. Betsy and Natalie (manager and assistant manager) looked me right in the face and said they didn't believe me that the color bled. They said no exchange or return since it was right outside 30 days since the purchase. Told me to call customer service. Customer service line told me they couldn't do anything bc the managers deemed it my fault. Insanely bad customer service- especially for a defective item. I will never shop at this store again. Great activewear designed for a woman's body. They have tops, shorts, Capri, leggings, skirts, gold attire, tennis attire, running clothes and even some swimwear. What brings me to Athleta is their sports bras. Yep, I know that sounds very specific! But they have the best selection and theirs provide the most support. Most brands, even the big name ones, design sports bras without any real support! They just compress you so you don't bounce but that isn't actually support if you wear a larger cup size. Athleta has underwire support bras that actually lift rather than create the dreaded uniboob, a very unflattering look! You women who wear size D or larger know what I mean! So for those women with ample assets, trust me, their support bras are the best! Supportive, comfortable and flattering at the same time. That alone is worth the trip here! Sales people are as helpful as you need them to be, just how I prefer. Typically I don't want or need assistance but when shopping for bras, it's helpful to have someone bringing you different sizes while you remain in the dressing room. Quality is high, mine have lasted quite a long time and just recently needed to be replaced. While here, always check out the sales rack. Must be serendipity but I always find something I like and in my size! read more

I have been in here twice in the last couple of weeks and experienced the same rude and seemingly bothered employee both times. She made both me and my mom feel like an inconvenience for being there shopping, asking questions, and needing sizes or things to be looked up online. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought that was their job? My mom was super excited about using her new athleta card and the woman basically ruined the experience for her. Not only that, a size they didn't have in store had to be ordered online was not given the discount because she said it was a separate purchase. Not sure why we should be penalized for the size not being in store on a purchase she should have been getting 20% off on. We will be visiting Washington square from here on out in hopes of better, more friendly customer service. We went to the one in bend and were treated so wonderfully. It's a bummer to have experienced this issue with this woman not once but twice. Giving two stars because we love the quality of the clothes and made a big purchase. read more

In contrast to what others have said , I think the staff is friendly enough ,they just are not intrusive to keep checking on you over and again. I have visited this store multiple times and always had a pleasant experience . Its at a very convenient location so getting here is pretty easy however parking is a little rough so don't plan on parking right across the block because chances are you might not be able to .The collection is impressive but sometimes I find the sizing a little difficult to pick . The clothes are sturdy and last a long time and the return policy is better than a few other similar brands . read more

I walked into Athleta because it was a newer store... and I like to wear Athleisure wear. I was told that they don't have my size. I walked out thinking... "How does that salesperson know what size I am?" I walked into every other store on that block. I was greeted with a friendly "Hello" inside every other store. I purchased something at another store. And when I was walking out of Athleta I was told by a friendly passerby... "They're racist." I think it's all of the stores on this block, though. I have been back to next block over from this block many different times. I have free Coffee and other items waiting for me at the Local coffee shops. And, they do carry my size.... I won't shop if I'm being racially profiled. The salesperson called me a name as I was leaving Athleta as well. read more

Brand new linen pants ripped at the inner thigh less than a year after their purchase - and you know, linen, it's not like I wore them in the winter, so after very limited use. Obviously very low quality fabric (the Cabo linen pants btw). I was advised to return them to the parent company because they would have to "evaluate" whether I could be refunded for a defective product, and warned they might decide it was ok for products to fail less than a year after their purchase and just return the torn pants to me with no refund. It's been over a month since the return and two phone calls, and Athleta has done nothing, per their phone reps. If I didn't call and follow up I'm not sure anything would ever happen - in fact still not sure. Careful what you purchase from this company. read more

Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. My mother and I went in July 4, 2108 very excited about checking it out and spending a day shopping together in NW Portland. We've been in Athleta PDX before and honestly, it's been so long since I've been IN the store I don't recall how we were treated before. But THIS time was terrible. Upon entering, we weren't greeted. EVER. My mother is blind and being her eyes is never a problem for me. But it's nice when the store employees offer greetings, assistance, and their general expertise. NONE of that happened. We wandered around the bottom floor looking for specific items. I finally asked a bored looking girl for help. She directed me upstairs. We went upstairs. The equally bored and snooty girl upstairs refused to make eye contact with me. And when I finally asked for help she simply pointed across the room to what she thought I wanted. We were also carrying several items to try on; she never offered once to start a fitting room for us. I finally asked her "can we get a fitting room started?" She didn't respond, but she did walk over to one of the fitting rooms and motion me over. "You can have this one" she said. That was it. No "is there anything I can get you?" or "did you find what you were looking for?" NADA. And then she never asked us if she could offer assistance again. We spent well over $250 in this store today but I have to say, the only reason we spent it was because we liked what we purchased. The service? AWFUL. The employees. SNOTS. The help. Abysmal. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. It'd be better to just hop online and purchase from their online store. GOOD LUCK p.s. bad attitudes and bad employees always comes from the top; perhaps they should seek alternate management. After we left we walked 1 block to West Elm in The Pearl; ALL the employees were upbeat, friendly, offered assistance, fabulous! I met the manager and complimented her. Great Place to Shop, the floor employees are always eager to help me find my way. This is my SO's favorite place to get her athletic clothes, therefore this is my go to place for birthday/holiday shopping. They tend to have a very uplifting, positive attitude every time I go even when customers give them a hard time. 10/10 will keep shopping here. read more

The worse clothing company ever, they may be racist. They don't even put plastic bags on the shipment garments which cause the bags to open and be Thorn during transit. They also stuffed so much items in a bag that they break, very chip! Why cants the use 2 bags? I have had 3 shipment arrived open and damage. I had received tons of shipment from Amazon, under armor and Fabletics but not has ever been damage or open. Their costumer service reps are very mean and unprofessional. They won't even let you do the survey at the end of the call. They just don't hung up. Weird. Their clothes are overprice and if you do a return it will take 1 full month for them to refund your money. I send them some item back at the beginning of January and they said my refund will be available on January 28th. I have been waiting for one item for more than 2 month and it never arrived, finally yesterday they refunded me. Very disappointed! read more

I love Athleta products, very much. I wanted to come in today to buy a new pair of high waist spandex (long-length). I don't often buy *expensive* work-out clothing but since owning my first pair of Athleta spandex, I wanted one more pair. I immediately walk in and am barely greeted. Some younger blonde girl approached me. I said 4 simple words, "high waist long spandex" -- she pointed up toward your mannequins and said "try upstairs, there might be more too".....so, I went upstairs, too. Another sales associate was upstairs, barely made eye contact. I eventually had to approach her.."high waist long spandex?" Her response: "you'll have to go back downstairs, they're down there." Me: "Huh? I was told they were up here." Then she goes, "oh!" -- turns around and points to a couple pairs on a table?? At that point I just took it upon myself to figure out the right fit. I picked up a pair of decently designed high-waist spandex, tried them on, paid $80 and left. Probably hire new sales associates -- I could've used some advice. Maybe sales associates with active lifestyles who enjoy your products for what they are. read more

Attentive, but unobtrusive sales people. A pretty good selection considering it is not a very big store. When I walked in I was greeted and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I was told that they didn't really have anything like the skort I was after in their regular stock, but that I should try the sales rack upstairs. That was a great tip! I found two things I had been looking at on-line..thanks to this great young lady. AND, they were on sale!!! Fabulous customer service and great products. I'm giving this place a 4, as the last time I went there I had a super helpful salesperson who surprisingly took the time to actually help me. I was a bit surprised as this store usually has some of the most disinterested customer service ever. I like Athleta gear, but find their workout pants to not fit as well (or be as flattering) as Lululemon (but they have their own issues). Athleta is, however, cheaper (big bonus) and I've picked up more than a few pieces that I love. I try to shop online, but really this isn't a bad place to go. Parking is a little rough in the area and its usually a cluster to get here. read more

Clueless Sales Staff Drove Me to Lucy (Next Door) I own several pieces of Athleta clothing that I'm crazy about. (When Athleta makes a winner, it's really a winner!) I wandered into the Athleta store at the end of February to see if I could find another gem. It was a disaster. There was, literally, one other customer in the store, and two visible sales staff. At first they were very friendly, and one even checked in back for the capri pant that wasn't on the floor in my size. However, as soon as I tried stuff on they were impotent. I'd tried on two sports bras, both size Small: one was so tight I could hardly get it off, and the other so big it was funny. So I asked the salesperson, who was folding clothes, for help with the sizing issue. She shrugged and said, "Yeah, I hear that a lot." Sisters, she had no interest in helping me. O_O So I went next door to Lucy. For contrast, let me describe what happened there: the aMAZing sales woman asked me what I wanted and needed. I described it: fitted torso, shelf bra, simple straps. She pulled three styles from the rack, made other gentle and appropriate suggestions, and was professionally attentive but not hovering as I tried on 7 or 8 things. I ended up buying $150 worth of goods. If management from Athleta in the Pearl is reading this: I walked into your store a loyal customer, and left because you haven't trained your staff, or taught them that paying attention to our requests means you sell stuff. P.S. Lucy's clothes are better quality than yours. read more

Go to expensive clothing district in the Pearl. Carry an armful of clothes around and am never once acknowledged. Walk upstairs and see "closed" dressing rooms. Proceed to hang my clothes in dressing room and a sales girl immediately comes upstairs and asks if she can start us a room downstairs. Just kills me....I want to spend money in your store. Sorry I'm covered in tattoos and wearing a Harry Potter tshirt.....while my adorable blonde mother compliments every piece of clothing and is wearing a dress from said store!!!!! I didn't know what to expect upon entering this store since people seemed to have had such poor experiences. Fortunately, I can tell you that I had a nice visit. After walking in we were treated to cheese and crackers and some adult drinks. A sales rep approached and offered assistance which I took advantage of since I kind of knew what I was looking for. She was very friendly and patient and offered suggestions of times that I might like. She also had me try on the new sculptek denim, which is amazing btw. They didn't have any in stock but they were able to order it for me online. read more

My teenage daughter loves Athleta. That being said, I can't bring myself to drop a dime at this location. I think the sales people need to be trained that when customers walk in the store you welcome them, no matter who they are or what they look like. Even a smile or some kind of non-verbal acknowledgement would have been nice...we just got zero. A sales girl walked right past us and not even a hello. Seems there may be some serious pretentiousness going on in the Pearl. That or they have a completely clueless staff with no manners.This is the second time my visit to this store made me feel uncomfortable. I told my daughter never again. read more

We did not receive a welcome in or acknowledgment for 10 mins. I had to ask for help with a dressing room and when I voiced how I couldn't find just the right item for my body no-one seemed interested in helping me. Almost all the sales associates seemed much too busy gossiping and being stuck up. I could easily have spent a few hundred in that shopping trip and ended up only buying one item. I couldn't get out of that store quick enough ! Props to one employee Rae who finally approached me and gave me a compliment on my tattoo, and because of her I made purchases . I would say to management , " Keep Rae, and can the rest ! Seriously, the worst sales associates of any store around that area." I will never go out of my way again to shop in that store. read more

I absolutely love the workout clothing and swimwear in this store, and was thrilled when they opened in Portland after getting their catalogs for a year or two. More stylish than Lucy, much better colors, and fantastic return policy (unlike Lululemon, where I refuse to shop because of their horrible return policy). Truth is I've never HAD to return anything to Athleta, but I know that I could, if needed. I love the quality and I get compliments every time I wear their clothes. I'm an avid runner and Athleta's shorts and leggings/capris are my absolute favorite items to run in. They look great, have the perfect amount of compression (not too tight), and don't slide down while running. I feel that some of the tops are too pricey, I won't pay $50 for a tank top...but the bottoms are well worth it, they look great after many many washings. My one and only complaint about this store location is that I don't feel the staff is very friendly. I've been in 3 or 4 times, and when I walk in, they NEVER say hello. (pet peeve of mine) Just the other day, the gal at the cashier station looked up, right at me, and said nothing. I looked around downstairs for at least 15 min. and was never spoken to. Oddly enough, every time I go upstairs, someone up there always says hello. Maybe it's because they don't have as much to do upstairs? Also, when I came back downstairs, I used the restroom and, lo and behold...there was a big selection of clearance items back there! This section is not visible unless you walk back to the fitting rooms or restroom. I would have really appreciated someone TELLING me about the clearance, because I ended up buying from there. The quality of the products sold here does not match the prices. The things I purchased began to pill after only being worn once. The prices are comparable to other better quality sportswear stores. Truly Awful Customer Service. I went in to try on swimwear. At first they helped me to the swim dresses I was looking for but after that, the sales staff were a complete no-show. I was in the dressing room for maybe 20 minutes and not one of the 5 staff members bothered to come check on me. It wasn't even busy. There were more staff than customers and still no follow up. I was ready to spend a healthy amount of money on these swimsuits if I could have gotten the right size. I asked the cashier if they usually have someone check in on the dressing rooms, and she just said "sorry, we are short today." I stood there waiting to see if she was going to offer to help me now that I got her attention, but she just stood there waiting for me to leave. I will never go back again. read more
