I'm going five stars here, I really like this course. $48 for 18 holes on a weekday with cart is very fair, given the maintanence and layout. Also it doesn't seem overly crowded, at least it wasn't on the two occasions I played here. They have 3 9 hole layouts, Zaharius, Jones and Oumed. They are all challenging in their own right with diverse and interesting holes. Of the three, I might say that Zaharius is a touch harder than Jones and Oumed. Jones might be the nicest visually but they are all close on that front. Oumed is my favorite but this could change the next time out there, I did like all 3. Love the different elevations and the fact that some of the holes are really geared where you need some local knowledge. I think this is a course that will get more satisfying the more times you play it as you realize some of the tricks and pitfalls. The tee boxes were in excellent condition, really big tee boxes too. The greens were fast and the fairways were plush. You do need to be precise on this course because the rough is vicious and if you get on the wrong side of a slope, it can easily lead you OB. You can get some really tough lies in the rough where you aren't going to be able to hit much more of a wedge(if even that) out of there. The other thing that makes this course difficult is the lies that you can get, a lot of uphill and downhill lies. Played at Crosswinds in Plymouth MA yesterday. Course is in great shape. At about the 14th hole a ranger approached us and started yelling that we were holding up play. There was no one behind us. She proceeded to yell at us at every hole after that until we finished. At no time did we see anyone behind us. Wouldn't have minded if she was civil the first time she approached us. She just came up yelling. A very bad experience and will never again play that course. Payed $150 for my son and I to play. I would expect a little more courtesy and professionalism! read more

Crosswinds hosted my bridal shower yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Our liquor was constantly refilled and when our speaker died they came to the rescue with a back up. They provided dishes, silverware, linens, platters, chalkboards, and so much more. Annalise went above and beyond. She was so helpful before, during, and after the shower. Everything was so beautiful and we had a great time. I highly recommend having an event here! read more

Played a scramble today with my brother, his son and grandson. Despite my fighting off low blood pressure, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and we won! Very nice course, beautiful day. My bro now prefers playing here rather than Pinehills, primarily due to cost. We paid weekend rate of $78 on Friday, more than I pay back home, yet I feel it was well worth it! read more

I've played at Crosswinds at least 5 times and LOVE it. The course is REALLY nice and has tees for all difficulties (from 5400 - 7000 yards). And the deal is IMHO unbeatable in/around Boston: $48 for 18 holes with a cart? Yes please! -1 star because: 1) It's a little dried out. Tee boxes get an A. I've played at too many "nice" courses with crappy tee boxes and it was good to see them done right here. Greens get a B+. They were fast but inconsistent and in need of some repair in a few places. Fairways get a C. Soft and occasionally ragged. Also not much in the way of yardage markers. Bring a range finder or GPS. First cut, rough, and beyond get a D. If your ball isn't through the green, you're probably hitting off of leaves, twigs, roots or dirt. The lack of playable conditions outside of the short grass is compounded by the fact that most of the holes have crown fairways. Most of those fairways slope left or right. This means that a tee shot down the middle could kick to the side and roll down into the mini-canyons running alongside most holes. If they had taken the time to fill in more of the course, it would be a much more professional layout. I give them props for a diverse and challenging approach. I thought the Jones course struck a better balance between challenging and stupid than did the Ouimet. If you're planning out your round, make sure to visit the website where you can get a ground photo of every hole. You will need to plan around a number of elevation changes. It concerns me a bit that they decided to add a 3rd 9-hole course before they built a proper clubhouse. Or add a few more water jugs (it's not a joke, they really have 2-3 on the whole course). On-course staff was actually pretty good. I wouldn't call the rangers helpful but I saw them several times and they were friendly despite the fact that play was backed up a bit. The prices are good for the Plymouth area but I hesitate to call it a good value. read more

My first time back in maybe 4 or 5 years, prior to the clubhouse/bar. Not a very friendly staff. The Ranger we encountered was rude and ignorant of the pace of play - he approached us from the hole behind and was not even aware of the group in front of us who had just left the green. Ride the course backwards you sarcastic a-hole, that way you will know where the gaps are or are not. I didn't like the layout and the maintenance left a lot to be desired. Blowers going, gas carts back firing, rough looking like the US Open. I sensed that the new Clubhouse made the regulars feel like they were members and we weren't. The cheap alternative to The Pinehills and Waverly Oaks. Cheap green fees for Meh day of golf. read more

A friend invited me to play Crosswinds a few years ago and I play there whenever I can. The three 9s have so much character. You really have to work the ball but if you are off the landing areas are large. Really great layouts. Took a while to finish clubhouse but the golf courses are the main reason for playing Crosswinds. I would play there any day over Pine Hills or Atlantic. read more

Love this place. Not sure where John S (previous poster) played. Conditions were excellent. Greens rolled perfect and the fairways were beautiful. The rough is what is supposed to be. Rough. I've played US open grade rough and this isn't remotely close to that. If you want an easy round of golf that you can go out and spray the ball all over the place and still score well, this place isn't for you. This place will test you game. The ranger drove past twice. Never stopped. As for the super, he does a fantastic job. read more

This is a really nice course. Plenty of challenge for players of all levels. Pine Hills is in a bit better condition but it is also quite a bit more money. In short, a really fun and challenging track that will not break the bank. A must play in the Plymouth area. read more

Another league year done...not gonna be returning..the ground crew likes to weedwack and leaf blow while your on the tee box.The rangers don't leave you to play ..constantly stopping to question you about speed of play or making up new rules for the carts.You now have to carry your clubs to the parking lot because the carts are not allowed in the lot..even though the owners kids drive them like go-carts thru out the lot and grounds...i do enjoy the course but I play to relax and have a good time with my buddies..not get hassled every week. read more

For a public course, there's not much more you can ask for! Great fairways, greens, amenities, and clubhouse. I played here a few weeks ago for the first time in years, and I forgot how much fun the layouts are. While the fairways are fairly wide, you still need to avoid hooks and slices as each hole is basically surrounded by woods. I played the Ouimet/Jones nines... I'll be back very soon! read more

Would not recommend hosting an event here. Although the clubhouse is pretty, the event planning leaves a lot to be desired. The food was late in coming out because the planner got the time wrong, even though the event was reviewed a few days prior. Wouldn't be writing this review if the planner had the common courtesy to come speak with us instead of staying in the back. Too bad as I would like to have given a nicer review. I probably play Crosswinds at least 20 times a summer.. One review here is way off the mark.. Place is in decent shape and the greens are usually fast. The huge elevation changes also create a lot of dramatic holes. I have brought many out of town guests here.. everyone has always enjoyed the course.. Yes, the clubhouse is a trailer.. bit so what.. They serve beer, and the stuff off of the gril is usually pretty good.. Slow play used to be really bad here.. seems to be a lot better now.. My record for 2010 was 3 Hrs. and 50 minutes.. longest round a bit over 5 hours.. The third nine really solved a lot of slow play problems.. My favorite nine of the three available is the new Zaharis.. read more

Golf is not easy, and neither is anyone of the three courses, here. You will need to trust your driver, approach greens from above and below, look around and uphill to doglegs that challenge par 4's, see coyotes, turkeys, and birds. The course was shaped into the terraine, and some bunkers were thrown in to protect the greens. There are some flat lies in the middle of the fairway. Roughs are rough, greens roll true, maintenance crews are rarely in view, and the Ranger is response to a phone call, as well moving people along. Smiles great you at the sign in, and the food is fantastic. It's a golfer's course, so bring your game. If you stay in the middle of the fairway, you will have options. read more

The golf here is pretty cheap, and the course looks amazing. The new superintendent keeps it really nice. He has made huge improvements. They just opened up 9 more holes, so the course is now made up of 27 holes. The only drawback is the fact that the clubhouse is so small. read more

Almost as good as Pinehills, with being significantly cheaper. $50 weekday is a bargain for this course. Great course conditions. Superintendent does a hell of a job here. The three nines are unique and provide different challenges. Zaharias is my favorite. Glad to see the new clubhouse is built. With some slight operation and managerial tweaks, this place would be a top 5 public course in Mass, no doubt. read more
