The food here is amazing. Our server Krystina was awesome. We are traveling and chose it because of the other reviews. We were seated very quickly and received everything very fast. One thing to note is that while they open at 3PM, they do not start selling food until 4PM. The first hour is bar only. The appetizer of Taco Cheese Dip is like homemade Rotel dip with good taco meat. We loved it. I had the country fried steak with two sides of twice baked potatoes, which are mashed potatoes with cheese. Both were super flavorful and delicious. My wife had the New York Strip, green beans, and mashed potatoes. She said the steak is cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and is delicious. The mashed potatoes are seasoned really good and not just dry old mashed potatoes you'd get at most places. She said the green beans even have flavor and seasoning that makes them really good. The food is not good I ordered the volcano nachos the beef could not chew the chicken tasted like it was out of a can and the shrimp was so strong smelling you could taste the smell. Guessing everyone else is figuring out the food is not good because at 6 pm it was not busy at all. read more

This place might be the only show in town. It is a unique place and it is always packed. The first night I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The food was a huge portion and tasted pretty good. The next night I had the pork chop. It wasn't as great. A little fatty. Cocktails were okay and the beer selection was decent. We are in Clarksville and decided after reading reviews and the recommendation of the front desk at our hotel to give this place a try Wow! Yes the parking lot is not great but who CARES!! Great atmosphere, great service but best of all the FOOD!! I had the chicken fried steak it was hands down the best I've ever had! I had the fried cabbage after reading about it in reviews. I'm not a huge cabbage fan but my god it was amazing!! I could have just had that. My wife had blackened chicken breast which was tender and juicy and the seasoning was spot on! She also had garlic mashed potatoes and fried okra both were great as well! The parking lot was full on a Monday night at dinner time. That's your first sign. There was no wait time to be seated and drinks were taken immediately following, even before we had a chance to look at the menu. The menu has a variety of southern dishes with an extensive list of sides. My husband ordered the burger with sweet potato fries and they were served with honey. Nice pairing, being from the north, we've never had that combo. He loved them and I did too. He said it was the best (juicy) burger he's had in a very long time. I had the Buckhead Steak which is the restaurant's favorite and it was delicious! It was an 8 oz. in house cut petite New York Strip cooked to absolute perfection! I had a baked potato and it was excellent. The warm roll was an added touch. The ambiance and vibe was welcoming and fun. The restaurant was clean and the staff was busy and didn't stop for a minute. Our waitress was friendly. We let her know that we had been traveling for a few weeks (over 3,000 miles) and we've stopped, ate and observed A LOT of restaurants. It is what we do, we are foodies. We informed her that the food and service was impeccable. I asked to speak to the owner/manager but they weren't there to let them know as well. All too often we only complain about the food and rarely praise and thank the waitresses and the cooks. On our way out I stopped by the kitchen and told the cooks the steak and burger were delicious! They were so gracious. Crosswoods Restaurant is highly recommended and you shouldn't pass it by. read more

First of all, the parking lot needs repaved...but if they did, this place would busier than it already is. Secondly, the Chicken Fried Steak is cut & breaded in-house and is enough for two (unless you're my Uncle John), and it's SO tender! They don't skimp on anything. The Fried Cabbage is as good as everyone said, tender, flavorful, and in little edible strips, and the Sautéed Squash was on J-Bar's recommendation--they are also cut in strips so they're easy to eat and tender, not soggy. Speaking of J-Bar (the friendly Bartender), he'll make you feel like a local in two minutes; he's friendly, knowledgeable, and promotes the Wednesday night Karaoke. He also let me know before he changed the TV in the bar (can't remember any bartender or manager ever doing that). I ordered Pinot Grigio, but that was before I heard J-Bar describe the five different local beers on tap--shoulda waited. They have the cool fill-from-the-bottom system. It's a lively, fun, bright atmosphere with plenty of TVs showing sports and CHIVE. I'll be back with my Family next time I'm eastbound I-40! read more

Gosh I really don't have anything good to say about the food, I was starving and had to choke down part of what I ordered, a CB and onion rings, My husband ordered a bacon CB in stead of them tell us they didn't have any bacon to give him a chance to charge his order they bought it out and said "oh by the way we're out of bacon'"! The meat tasted and looked like it was a plant based patty, the cheese wasn't melted and the buns were cold the mustard and ketchup were Generic brand the "homemade Onion rings" had no flavor, homemade chips were burnt, and the salsa tasted like gas. Truly people must go there for the drinks we didn't have any so I can't say weather they were good or not I'm glad we didn't wast our money on trying them as the price of the "food" was pricey enough!! The owner graciously obtained the necessary Peacock app so we could watch the desired game. The bar staff were so friendly and attentive. Very friendly place in the middle of nowhere. As soon as I walked in Jason and Richard were behind the bar and introduced themselves. A very country place. Laid back and was starting to get busy when I arrived. If we were staying longer we would have hung out there for a few nights. We were traveling to Raleigh from San Diego and stopped at the Motel here for the night. Ordered a Steak and Cheese sandwich. Amazing! you could taste the freshness of the veggies and Steak and handmade fries. Definitely a place to hang your hat for the night or a few nights. The motel was clean and safe but nothing fancy. My wife got a plate with assorted oysters. They were inedible. They were so fishy that my wife said it was like "going down on a mermaid". It gave the place a more "home-y" feel. I ordered the Buck Head Steak with a Twice Baked Potato and Green Beans. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked to order. The sides had a homemade appearance and tasted great. I showed up around 6pm on a Friday and there were only a few tables. By the time I left (around 7:15) the place was filling up pretty quickly. This is a different place all together, part bar part restaurant and part pool haul, all into one package. The food was above what one would expect for a dive place.
