It just opened in fall of 2014, is in an excellent location right in the middle of the city near city hall and is very well stocked with anything you could need for a painting project. In addition to paint and paint supplies, there are numerous books of wallpaper options SW also sells. Now, regarding the staff, unfortunately they're still coming up to speed on the product line, so I don't believe they came from another store. For example, my wife asked if there were any paint options that had some sparkle to them; we were confidently told no so we believe it. We kept browsing the store though and what do you know, there is a display for the "Faux Impressions" line of products, which, you guessed it, includes an ingredient that makes it sparkle, or as SW describes it, "Glistening flecks are revealed as your eye follows light reflecting across the surface." So they do indeed have exactly what the sales person told us they didn't. In any case, I'm sure they'll get better with time as the store had only been open for a month or so at the time of our visit.

It kept appearing hazy and would not clear up, no matter if I brushed it on, diluted with mineral spirits, or wiped on with a rag. I have gone into every paint store I could find in the St. Pete area big and small with this problem. Even called MinWax twice. I searched online for hours for suggested solutions. Finally, I walked into the Dyco Paints and asked manager James Brown. After I explained everything I had done, he said try using a water-based spar urethane instead of the oil-based I had been using. Well no stores in this area carry it, but I did have it delivered within a day. It solved the problem!! Now I have a very clear urethane topcoat. I cannot believe that of all the places I tried, all the websites I searched, James was the only person that could solve this problem.

There were two employees working and both were immensely helpful breaking down everything. I spoke with the female more and she went in depth with the levels of the paints and also helped us pair some colors for our door color that we wanted to change up. We would keep the same color on our house and just have it repainted. We went home with a few booklets and a handful of swatches and will go on the color snap studio at home and take a pic of our house and plug in the colors we like. Definitely happy with our visit since first time having our home repainted. Will also check out our local location and check out their referred painters they have on display.
