This place has a lot of things for a neighborhood hardware store. You have your choice between employee attitude the cashier at the front and I've met two or three of them and they all seem the same rather an interested in being there and is helpful as a root canal. Their policies are if the package is open, you can't return it so there's no way to really tell if something works unless you open it and they're pricey for stuff. Then you have I don't know if the guy runs the place or he's the manager. He can't bother you enough being helpful as one thing making everything. Paul helped me with a complicated issue that no one else on the island was willing to help solve. Fair, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I wish I could have stayed longer to browse. Wanted to have a key made for my van, the service person did not know how to run machine, when he asked for help, no one seemed to know what they were doing, I said maybe I should take it somewhere they know how to run the machine, the nasty manager said, "that's a good idea, give her back her key." I left saying, you advertise being able to make a key. False advertising, and nasty manager, she is not running a good business. Maybe they should be trained better by a more knowledgeable manager. read more

Like the ad says 'Ace is the place'. I'm not a real heavy Mr. fix it kind of Guy, but when I do get the bit between my teeth and decide to fix some thing I always come to Ace for expert advice. Once I explain my situation they have plenty to say about the proper tools and possibly even different ways to get done what I wanna do. During the power outage after hurricane Milton, I went to this place instead of Home Depot hoping to find someone who knew what they were talking about. I wasn't disappointed. I bought post-hurricane supplies, and they helped me with a lantern which had corroded battery terminals, suggesting how to clean them. I also asked about a ceiling fixture that was lit despite having no electric in my house or neighborhood. They thought there might be something weird in the wiring, but since I thought I had power there I bought a screw-in adapter with a socket thinking I could attach an extension cord and charge my devices. Got home, adapter didn't work: devices didn't receive power. I brought it back, thinking it was defective, but also brought in the lamp. But when I unplugged the lamp, the bulb stayed lit-with no source of electricity! Several of the guys puzzled over it. We figured out that it must be a special kind of bulb that holds power for a while Later I found such bulbs online. I recently moved to St Pete, and I'm glad to have found this old-fashioned hardware store, the kind that the big box guys have put out of business, where you can talk to a live person who can anwer your questions, or find someone else who can. . I have been shopping at Ace for years because I loved the exceptional customer service. Over the last few months I noticed something missing every time I visit the store. The lack of genuine customer service I used to receive. Most of the employees have no idea where things are or interest in helping you. This is complete different of the type of customer service I used to receive. I noticed I had I hadn't seen any of the managers, initially I thought they were on vacation. Today today to my dismay I found out from the staff that ACE let go of all the managers that had been there since the store opened. They let them go in the middle of COVID. I want Ace to know that that decision is going to cost them a lot of costumes. The difference is palpable, the quality of management you had running the store before was like no other the costumer Service was exceptional the staff was professional and was happy to help. read more

Went to Ace on Pasedena, for our older screens to be repaired (new screens & tabs). Excellent work, fairly priced. Had 2 more with smaller issues, months later. Paul called today, just a couple of days after we dropped off, said all done, not too much trouble, and no charge. I said really? He said yes, really. I chose to shop at Ace to help out the smaller retailers. I was so disappointed with my experience at the Gulfport Blvd S location because they chose not to honor their shelf marked price! You can see in the pic the price marked $18.99, there were 2 in this spot. The one next to it is $16.99. You can't see the one to the left but it was marked down from 21.99 to 17.99. There were no 34.99 price makers on that shelf. I get mistakes happen, but I didn't like the way they handle it. No apology, just "it's in the wrong spot" and a blank stare. I guess I'm going to Home Depot! Btw, I went out of my way to get to this location. HD is on my way home! Maybe I'll come back for the "Going out of business" sale. read more

I give up on the Ace at this location. The staff at Vision Ace Hardware on MLK in St Pete warmly greet customers as they enter, offer to help find items, have a much better selection of items, and give a genuine thank you at the check out area. I'd rather travel the extra distance to Vision Ace than tolerate the snobby female staff at S. Pasadena Ace. read more

It use to be this was the place to go. Come on, the only reason Ace hardwares have made it this far because they pride themselves on customer service and had knowledgeable people there to help you. It has slowly gone downhill in this location. Can't get anyone to wait on you. The other day four employees standing around the paint counter not even paying attention to the customers. I stood there waiting for 5 minutes for them to stop talking about what they wanted for lunch and who's going to pay what. I finally went looking on my own again still had no luck. Went back to the paint counter and an elderly lady waiting for them to help her. Finally they did. Than I waited and waited and just as I turned to leave one of the guys that was talking to two others about lunch said do you need something. I said no I was going to Home Depot. He said why. I said because your lunch discussion that lasted for 10 minutes obviously was more important since I waited earlier and came back and waited again. They should be lucky to have jobs as Home Depot and lowes is cheaper and customer service was the only thing keeping them alive. read more

Looks like I had same experience as other reviewer. Went in for schrader valve. Had no idea what I was talking about, and we don't carry anything exotic like that. (every tire on their car has one - it's where you put the air). Bought another small piece of hardware for $5. Came back the next day to return it (wrong thread type) with receipt in hand. Cashier scanned it and tried to refund $2.50. Um, receipt says you charged me $5, under "general merchandise". Doesn't matter, we can only refund what it scans at, and it's my cashier number and I always scan it. You were not the cashier here yesterday afternoon. Well it was Tamara and she always scans it. Please call the manager. Cashier to manager: "this guy is trying to get more money back than what the item costs". I bought this yesterday, I have a receipt that says you charged me $5 dollars and I don't like being accused of trying to steal $2.50. Sir, stop yelling at me (was not yelling, but upset of course). Manager scans item and says we can only refund what it scans at. Told them to keep the item, and the money. You want to deal with that? You want be called a a scammer/thief over a lousy $2.50?
