Hope when the time comes for your own loved one you don't get netted by all the Skunks that stink up the neighborhood and tax your grief and amplify your loss. ALL in the name of Profit!! We were helped by "Tara" and owe her a debt of thanks. She handled the interstate transfer of our Mother with great care and concern for our loss! There was no problem with our supplying Mom's casket ourselves (COSTCO, believe it or not, was the highest quality and the fairest price!) and the transfer went seamlessly. Our family can only thank Alternative for easing our burden and lessening our sadness.. I am giving them 4 stars only because I am a tough critic. Call them up, involve them, and relax. They hold up their end of the bargain... They are also known as Autumn, Crown, and Eternal.

It is difficult enough to lose a loved one in such a hard way and then to have to fight to get their death certificate. You cannot do anything as far as closure and settling their affairs financially in any other way without death certificate. It is very difficult to get her husband's retirement in order without any death certificate. It's almost a month now. This is extremely unacceptable. I don't understand what's going on. I don't know who screwed up, but I would not recommend this place, not one bit. The people who came and picked up her body we're very very nice. I just don't understand why it's been a month and we don't have a death certificate. It's absolutely inexcusable. I would never ever recommend this place unless you are looking for a lot of extra stress to accompany the pain of losing a loved one.

We often don't think about all of the meticulous details required to organize funerals and memorial services, but these folks handle everything with precision and grace. The facility is tucked away in a hidden corner of Portland on Taylor's Ferry Road, and rises out of the forrested hillside suddenly - making it very easy to miss! The building boasts a large parking lot that covers two levels, and there are accessibility features throughout the property for those in need of them. Though the mausoleaum is an expansive space filled with light, it feels quiet and intimate. I'm very impressed that a facility dating back to 1916 is able to sparkle and shine like it was built yesterday. I very much appreciate the management and staff's dedication to maintaining this important place that is special to so many families.

We dealt primarily with Tim (funeral director) who was patient, kind, and took it upon himself to educate us on the process and held our hand the entire way as we navigated our way through the logistics of it all. They take a 'family first' approach and although my Aunt was a recent immigrant to Portland -- I felt this experience really made her and us a part of the fabric of this town. A special thank you to Tim and the Riverview Abbey team for your professionalism, tact and care in helping us through all of this!
