I had my air ducts cleaned today by Clean A Duct, and I couldn't be more happy with the results! I had to reschedule several times and they were very accommodating. The technicians arrived right on schedule. They were extremely courteous and I asked them to explain the process before they began. The cleaning was thorough as they meticulously went through each vent and the main duct system. As expected there was a slight smell when starting the furnace back up (not dissimilar to how it might smell after being off all summer) but that cleared up quickly. We haven't had them cleaned in the 12 years we've been here (I know, I know...) but I really expected them to be worse. They even replaced the filters on the furnace (I provided them). The pricing was reasonable and comparable to similar services. It took about 3 hours for a 3k sq ft house. We also had them clean out the dryer vent. read more

Clean A Duct promptly set my appointment and they were at my home promptly as well at the appointed time. We did a walk through so I could point out the registers then they went to work. They explained the process- what they would be doing and that the heat would be off for a period of time. They got busy with the equipment and before too long they were finished up. Everything was put back just as it was and when the heat came on I no longer smelled that dusty smell. They also cleaned the dryer vent which was a worry since I know fires can start if the back up of lint is not cleaned. I was very pleased and I will use them again in 3-5 years when it's duct cleaning time again! read more

The good: We were scheduled within a week Philip and Hunter (who came to our house) were lovely They resolved the powerful dog urine odor coming from our vent (where our puppy had done her business) The bad: The window we were given was between 11:30-1:30 and they arrived at 4:30 due to an accident at another site It is kind of expensive They didn't remove the plastic coverings and tape they had put on the vents (they had an unbelievably long day considering they left our place close to 8pm) We didn't get a call about how late they would be. I called Boni at 1:30. She said it would be 1-2 more hours before they arrived, it was 3. For think of I had known it would be 4:30 before they arrived I would have canceled. I would have like more proactive communication. Overall, we got what we needed. read more

These guys are top notch in my book. I've used them several times and you won't find a more professional or conscientious outfit. Tim goes above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion. I got fed up with trying to fix our 10 year old dryer. All the "repair" guys kept doing is installing a new fuse ($214.00 part & labor) and telling us it would happen again! Great work. We were able to schedule within a very reasonable timeframe in April after our A/C and furnace had tuneups. The crew were very friendly and respectful of our home, distancing, and informing us of everything step by step with the duct cleaning so we could prepare our sensitive little for noise. We'd been in our property for three years and hadn't had maintenance in that timeframe, so with an awful allergy season this year, as well as all the smoke back in September, we knew it was time. The crew said afterward that the duct work in our 2012 built home was really good and our system is efficient, so we could probably get away with 4-5yrs until the next one. We were hoping to see all of what was collected afterward, for our own appeasement, but that's just our own quirky/curious brains. We recently moved into a home in SE Portland and after installing a brand new dryer and not being able to dry our clothes, we knew there was an issue. We got in touch with Clean A Duct and they were very helpful in arranging a time and date to have the duct cleaned. Not only did they clean the dryer vent line that obviously hadn't been touched since the house was built, they installed a new vent on the outside of the house! Another problem we ran into was that the new dryer would not fit into our laundry closet with the exhaust line that Sears put on when they installed the machines. The technician Tim Nations, happily changed it out and got the dryer to fit perfectly into the closet. I must say when I ran my first load of laundry through the machine and it dried in 45 minutes I was over the moon! This was one of the best decisions we made for our new house. Not only is the dryer line clean, the machines work perfectly and we can rest easy knowing that a potential fire hazard was handled professionally. We had what I thought was a dead rodent in one vent so I contacted Clean a Duct. (While they were here, our 3yo daughter confessed to pouring the contents of her potty down the heater vent..) They were responsive, professional, and helpful. The office staff was quick at turning messages around. The technicians did a fantastic job with our tricky layout here - - two furnaces, one in a nearly inaccessible crawlspace and one in a similarly difficult attic. They weren't able to clean the ducts this time around because they need a truck, but I'm on the wait list for the truck because I liked them so much. They sealed gaps in our downstairs venting, checked the perimeter for possible rodent entries, and generally rolled with the punches in our chaotic house (two kids under 3 right after a snowstorm). We diagnosed a dead creature in a heating duct. We couldn't find it or get to it ourselves and were about to move out, the smell was so overpoweriing. We found Clean A Duct. They responded quickly and - amazingly, fixed our problem unbelievably fast and efficiently. The problem, and solution, were very surprising! (Too detailed to explain here.) Thankfully, we got to it before much more serious damage occurred. When Tim arrived, I explained our problem, what we did. Minutes later - a whole new issue, and solution, were exposed. I'm a retired engineer and am very familiar with building systems, but am not familiar with how creatures behave. I never would've guessed what happened. You just cannot know this stuff without specialized experience. I could've spent a fortune cleaning the entire system and even re-built sections without solving the problem. I spent years trouble-shooting designs, but I met a fellow who's adept at some very unique problem-solving. I will NEVER lose their business card! The bill wasn't bad, and even though I'm old and really cheap, I was so thankful to pay it! This was an unbelievable experience and I'm still shaken by it - and by my luck finding these folks. We have been living in our rental house located in NE Portland for over 6 years, and have known for years that we had a VERY serious mold problem, as well as filthy heating ducts. We rented an ozinator machine called Maxblaster USA to kill the mold from Interstate rental, and hired Clean-A-Duct to clean the ducts. Well, let me tell you, I did not realize that there still were businesses that truly cared about doing a thorough job vs simply getting the job done as quickly as possible! Tim Nations deserves a Masters Degree in duct cleaning: he spent from 1 PM until 10 PM dealing with ducts that hadn't been touched in about fifty (50) years. If possible I would have attach pics of just how bad the build up was in our ducts (including a dead mouse and toys that may be antiques). Tim had to go over the same ducts numerous times, and empty his filters half way through each cycle. BOTTOM LINE: this is a family owned business that cares about their reputation; their credibility as a duct cleaning business is the BEST! Be sure to ask for Tim. read more

We've been having problems with our dryer that is 11 years old and after Sears came twice and it still wasn't working, I called Clean-a-Duct and they had someone come the very next morning. Tim Nations arrived exactly on time, cleaned the duct and explained to us the problem -- the vent had been painted shut! (I will be dealing with the contractor who painted our house). They put us on the schedule right away to clean our dryer duct vent (which is important when you can't do laundry because of a clogged vent). Tim was prompt and professional. The vent was clogged on the outside. He changed the cover and replaced it with a new one. Tested the air flow. Before Tim, another company had come out to clean our duct and said they didn't have a tall enough ladder! Tim was, without any problem, able to get up there and fix it right away.
