very poor service! booked a two night stay with Crown King Cabins and immediately got a call from them asking if I was close by. told her I was in Sedona with my wife but was on our way...the employee started huffing and puffing about it would take us hours to get there (was less than an hour away) and impression as it was the end of the world for her. my wife told me she was the same way with my wife when my wife called a day prior to see what recommendations for coming out that way as though my wife was calling too far in advance for her to make time for my wife. I requested the reservation to be cancelled since our timeline was not suitable for her and she hung up on me. when I called back, she declined the call with an automated message. do not recommend anyone wasting money on this place. read more

WARNING.....This place is a scam! I'm going with all the other reviews about the lady who apparently owns the place. She's not right and flat out knows what you get is not as advertised. We rented the cabin by the stream (there is no stream unless it happens to be raining). Showed up in our sedan and she gave us directions on how to get to the cabin. Leaving the 'office' I high centered my car, but was able to keep going. When we got near the cabin, there was absolutely no way we could get to it without getting the car high centered and stuck. She knew damn well that would be the case if we tried. So, I ask myself, why would she not warn us of that potential outcome? I have my guesses as to the arrangements she has with the half dozen full time residents in the encampment that is Crown King. Anyway, I had enough and told her we were leaving because the cabin wasn't accessible without a high profile vehicle. She then told me a high profile vehicle is recommended in the rental agreement. It's not. This is an extremely remote location with one way in, and one way out, on a 30+ mile dirt road with sections of mountain switchbacks. There's apparently one resident that cooks on Fridays and Saturdays (if he fells like it) where you can eat, so bring food. They are intentionally taking advantage of city slickers like me (I grew up in a town with one traffic signal and railroad tracks down our Main Street) who are foolish enough to look at their website and think 'that looks like a nice little place to stay.' read more

Review Cabin Sedona Booked a 1 night stay, we stayed in the Chicken Coop, the place was perfect for our family of 5. This places is 1hrs + drive in the dirt, going 6,000 ft elevation. We were able to drive up late at night, no problem. Did see a coyote, couple rabbits crossing our path and bats flying around. Made it to the cabin late 2:30am, but I did let the owner know I was coming from CA. When we got there she was surprise, that I even made it up there. Well I'm not going to pay for something and not stay there. If I say I'm going I'll definitely mean it! The owner just needs to work on guest experience no matter what time you get there, especially if it's your own business. Don't let your attitude ruining your business. Set your problems aside and run a business and if you can't find someone that can run your business. The reason why people leave on a getaway trip is to getaway from people like you and when they have to deal with them on a trip it kills the experience. Everything else was great, Beds where comfortable, has full kitchen and big fridge. All you need to bring is food and clothes. read more

Recently attended a wedding at this "establishment", and I can not emphasize enough how crazy Taryn is. Do not ever book through her. This unhinged woman advertises $550 a night for a 6 bedroom cabin. She then price gouged wedding guests $1300 a night. They also tried to charge $185 per person. What do you get for this amount of money, you ask? You get strangers quadruple booked into your cabin. Cameras inside violating privacy. Brown water that they said is just "Philadelphia water". Only 4 bunk beds in each room. That 6 bedroom went to 4 rooms, with families we didn't know. No heat, and only one space heater. They advertise WiFi in their book but tell you in person there isn't any. Not allowed to build a fire either, despite no heat in the middle of December with below freezing temps. They demand you tip house keeping, but after YOU take out the trash, and wash the laundry, and do the dishes. When we brought this to taryns attention, she went ballistic. She should've been arrested for disorderly conduct. Her coworker said she has ptsd and that's just how she treats people. My special needs daughter is still distraught and crying because of her. She scared my children. This crazy woman breached every agreement, and will lie to you. No phone signal at this location, one tv for 6 rooms, no heat, and a mentally I'll woman who screams at guests in front of their children. Do not ever do business with these price gouging thieves. Look at other reviews and you'll see how unstable she is, changes rules last minute, extra fees not in writing. She should be committed and get the help she desperately needs. Update! Neat place to spend a simple, outdoor weekend. The cabins are not glamorous, but nicely furnished and look like a home, not a hotel. My wife said, "Is this someone's personal cabin they just rent?" The area is beautiful and there are a number of things to do in the area. You can also take a five minute walk over to the saloon, restaurant, and other stores in town. Don't come here expecting a Hilton, you're renting a nice cabin and you're mostly on your own. Bring food to cook (nice kitchen), drinks, and the like. read more

I tried to get a reservation online and nothing worked, so i called the owner direct to book. She said she didn't do business with anyone who had a blocked number....so I called back with an unblocked number, and she said she wouldnt do business because I called earlier with a blocked number and can't understand why anyone would have a blocked number--even though I was no longer blocked.....hung up. You can't make this stuff up....she sounded old and senile. No problem....I will just have a girlfriend call and book under another name, but I can see a lot of potential issues down the road with the bitch...... read more

This is one of the coolest spots we've ever stayed. It is so cozy, and it has the most awesome setting with the yard, hammocks, and peace and quiet. We will never stay anywhere else when we come to Crown King. read more

I'm so thankful I came across this place after seeing it on my facebook timeline from a promoted post. My bf and I like to get away, experience different things, but not be around alot of people. Not only did we discover this cute secluded cabin but also a cute secluded town. I loved seeing how the people who were also here lived. Even the visitors. Everyone was on ATV's, its a must. the drive up was super interesting. Im glad we stayed a few days. The lady who runs the "bunkhouse" property was very accommodating, nice, and friendly. The cabin we stayed at was not 5 star hotel, but thats not what we expected, but it was large enough for the 2 of us and was equipped with everything we needed and more. Also had a charcoal grill outside, lawn chairs, and a firepit out back. Not to mention the view of the creek and little bridge. I have been telling all of my clients about this place. The one star is for the cabin itself. It is not the Hilton, it is nice, but it is what you pay for. The lack of the other stars is due to the Manager (possible owner) who not only flat out said I will not rent to you again in fear of getting an actual bad review, but ALSO called the numbers on the past reservations and harassed them about me letting future guest know what they are in for. There are other places on the hill. I suggest utilizing them first. read more

I'm giving this 5 stars because it was perfect for our large group and exactly what we needed. There were 17 people in our group including 7 kids. It has four bedrooms with two sets of bunk beds in each room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, BBQ, fire pit and is right near the creek and walking distance to the saloon. It was great to be able to have everyone under the same roof and the bunk house is spacious enough that we never felt crowded. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! read more

0 STARS!!!! I had to mark at least 1 in order to post. This review is of my horrible experience and opinions. Long story, but please before staying here. I have shared this story elsewhere too. Cabin was somewhat clean, but immediately noticed bed linens were stained, thankfully I brought our own to use. I felt like she, the woman who runs the place, had "spies" checking in on the cabin, without our knowledge. She said dogs have to be on leashes at all times, but I saw her several times where her dogs were off the leash, went the bathroom and she left their mess sitting there, and it was by the cabins. A week after we left, she fraudulently charged my credit card for over $600 in "damages". She sent 1 email, which she knew would go to spam (we told her this several times), basically saying we needed to talk about the cabin and that was it. Then she made NO attempt to EVER contact us again. When we called her, the unauthorized charge excuse was for linens (which weren't used), the nasty couch (old and smelled) and other ridiculous "damages." She claimed our dogs lifted their legs and 'destroyed' the couch and when we confronted her that our dogs don't lift their legs, she acknowledged there was already dog urine on the couch by saying "well if your dogs smelled the urine on the couch...". So she's aware of the couch full of dog urine and then leaves it for her customers to use? We let her know a friend was stopping by for the day and she claimed it was fine. A nasty snow storm took place and it being night time and not knowing the conditions of the roads, for his safety he stayed and left first thing in the morning. Her "spies" told her that we "lied" about him and we should have called and told her. 1 she told us and made it clear, that she was not going to be available and 2 when we mentioned to her it was for his safety and he was there for less than 24 hours, she again appeared not to care that we were looking out for his safety and that we are "liars". My credit card was ONLY authorized for the reservation and nothing more! She made NO real attempt to contact us before she made the unauthorized and made-up charge to my card. When I found the unauthorized charge to my card, my significant other (SO) called her and she was absurd in her accusations, saying we "damaged" and "destroyed" her cabin. I am OCD and that cabin was cleaner after we left than when we got there. Pretty sure this is illegal for her to say but she told my SO "I will consider giving you $200 back if you DO NOT bash me on social media." So when I tried to compromise with her, she was calling me a "bully" and "nasty" because I was calling her out on her lies and accusations; one point she called me a "moron". Along with telling my SO to "get out while he can" referring to our relationship. She threatened to take us to court and then when I informed her what she did was fraudulent, then we got an email that she was going to "give a full refund" and then the next day she sent another email that she was NOT going to give a refund and we would be hearing from her attorney; which when I looked up the name, there is NO ONE on the AZ Bar with that name and the closest name to what she provided had a suspended law license. In the end, I rightfully disputed the charges with my credit card company, explained the entire story, they reached out to her, in which we then received another threatening email that she will be taking us to court. In the end, my credit card company gave me a FULL REFUND because of their findings with the unauthorized charged. In my opinion, I think she has done this before, make up "damages" and charge her customers with the hopes of either the customers never realize the unauthorized charge or that when she 'threatens' to use an attorney and go to court, people back down. So again in my opinion, if you do choose to stay at this place, make sure you are checking transactions on your card after you leave, because she might do the same to you. read more

WiFi doesn't work unless you're in the office - It didn't work in the cabin. I had to go to the General Store for WiFi. Satellite TV didn't offer too many channels. Not much to do in Crown King unless you have an ATV. Glad we only stayed one night. read more
