It's two floors of pure enjoyment. On the first floor, there's a Starbucks, which adds such a cozy touch -- you can grab a coffee, matcha, or tea and just sit down with a book and relax. The store is very -- there's an elevator and escalators, making it easy with kids. The second floor has an amazing kids' section with books and toys. And not just any toys -- they're actually high-quality, unique, and very thoughtfully curated. There are also areas where kids can play, and even a small stage where they host storytime on certain days -- such a magical experience for little ones. Everything is always clean and comfortable. I especially love the carpeted floors -- it makes it so easy to just sit down anywhere, even on the floor, with a book and your coffee and enjoy the moment. The book selection is huge, including lots of activity books, crafts, and educational materials. My kids absolutely love it here -- there's always something new to explore, create, and learn. Restrooms are clean, staff is friendly, and the location is great. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as a Whole Foods Market and other shops. Parking is also very convenient. It's run by volunteers, and they raise money such as the library's bookmobile for outreach to underserved communities in Boca Raton, the AWE Early Literacy Stations in both the downtown Boca Raton Public Library and the Spanish River Library, and the award-winning Storywalk trails at public parks, as well as other things. Every time I've come the volunteers have been super sweet and personable. I highly recommend.

I found this store through online recommendations and expected a welcoming tabletop gaming environment. The cashier was polite and greeted me when I walked in, so credit where it's due. But after that, the experience was honestly disappointing. There were three employees in the store, I was literally the only customer there, and not one of the three employees ever asked what I was looking for or if I needed help with anything. One older gentleman, who seemed like he may have been the owner or manager, came across as grumpy and completely uninterested. The cashier, who was female, was the only person who acknowledged me at all. The two men working there barely made eye contact, acted completely uninterested, and honestly gave off the vibe that they did not want to help me or even acknowledge my existence. It felt awkward and unwelcoming the entire time I was there. I walked the entire store from front to back trying to find something beginner friendly for a child getting into Dungeons & Dragons. From what I could tell, the store seemed overwhelmingly focused on Warhammer and miniatures. Maybe they had what I needed, but I honestly could not tell because nobody bothered to engage with the only customer in the store. The frustrating part is that I made a pretty long drive specifically to come here because it was recommended online. It would have taken almost no effort for one of the three employees to simply ask, "Can we help you find something?" A few times a year, Scholastic Warehouse opens its doors to the public. The Scholastic Warehouses are the hubs for where bookfair cases are "built" that go out to schools for their fundraising book sales. Obviously a lot of the books from school sales get sent back to the warehouse unsold, thus periodic open warehouse sales. The better sales happen when the entire warehouse is open to the public, usually around the holidays. Most sales feature half off everything, including already discounted items, but check their website before you go and register; they give you a $10 and $20 off sale coupon to print and take to the sale for MORE savings on TOP of the sale discounts. I support the school book sales, but this is a bonus treat for the young bookworms in my life. My older child loves roaming the young adult section for classics and newer series books. I also get the preschool and little kids picture books as "switch a book for the iPad sometimes" moments for my friends with the toddlers and preschoolers. How can you not read "the hungry caterpillar" in bound book form? Tons of awesome recipe books and those pricey hardcover reference books for half off, too. There is a large section of fancy overpriced pencils, pens, erasers and gadgets for half off. I always get those pens topped with the pop-out eyes heads @_@ and the fuzzy heads ¥¥**¥¥ Book gathering, step away from the kindle.

They hold sales every few months. I went on the very last day and they had BOGO deal! Reminded me of a record shop that I used to frequent back in Queens, NY in the 90s. If you're into rock and metal, you'll definitely love the selection here. They had all kinds of cool albums, including some really interesting sets and Record Store Day releases that you just don't see everywhere. They also had a bunch of reggae, soul and dance LP's. Prices were a little bit higher than you could find online for most things, but there were some deals here and there. My daughter found a bunch of singles for a buck or two that we're going for more money on eBay. She was psyched. One thing that I was disappointed with was that the selection appeared to be like 95% new vinyl. I was hoping to find some used bins to look through but it was really slim pickens for diamonds in the rough. That aside, gotta love a record store like this. It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon.
