Where do ya go on RSD? On record store day, you go to a good record store and enjoy. Last satuday we headed out to a spot I hadn't been to before, "We Got the Beats". It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon. read more

I came here this past weekend for a Joe Jonas meet and greet on the day of his album release, and everything was so well-organized and professional. The owner/manager (I'm not sure of his exact role), Tony, was super nice and patient despite what I'm sure was a stressful event. I was super impressed by the organization and how smoothly everything went, when it could've very easily been chaotic with hundreds of crazed fans in attendance. Tony also did a great job of making sure that people didn't cut in line, when many did try, and took the time to talk to those of us who had been waiting in line for hours. He also answered tons of questions on social media that people had leading up to the event. I can't convey how impressed I am at how well they pulled off an event of this magnitude, and am beyond grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. read more

I don't want to assume it was based off anything but I was with my girlfriend. Another customer walked in 5 minutes after me and he said welcome to him. If you're a vinyl lover, this place is heavenly! Of all of the record stores I've been to throughout the last 10 years, this place is truly my husband and I's favorite. They've recently moved into a larger space, which seems to be a lot more organized and user friendly then the old location. My husband and I enjoy browsing through used vinyls, which are mostly $3-$5. Of course there are exceptions to those prices, and in those cases the prices are clearly marked. The used vinyls are separated by music genres, and are alphabetical (to a certain extent) with in each section. It takes a bit to get used to, but it is easy! Located in the back corner is a record player with headphones so you can ensure you're happy before you buy. The older gentleman with the gray hair that works here is quirky and nice. Last time, we had an issue with a gift card, but he worked it out and was very nice to deal with. They also sell used CDs, cassettes, etc. Vinyls are definitely the most plentiful items, but are not the only items! Side note: there is an AMAZING beer place in the same plaza, so make sure to do a double stop! read more

Are you into music? Vinyl? Then this is the place for you. It's conveniently located in a not very busy shopping area on the south side of Oakland Park Boulevard. I wasn't here to buy, however, I was here to sell some CD's. There aren't too many places that will buy them now, so I'd made a couple calls. I spoke with Marc and made an appointment to come in. As part of my downsizing and cleaning -- started during COVID -- I'd set aside a bunch that we no longer cared about. In fact, to be honest, I can't remember listening to any of our CD's in a very long time. However, we do have some sentimental attachments to a few, so those we will keep -- at least for awhile. We came in and Marc looked them over. We browsed while he was looking. The prices for new vinyl were a bit of a shock to me. I remember as a teen buying a record album for under $10. Now they run over $20++ and way up. But they do have a bunch here of used records for only $3 and if it's something you just must have in vinyl this is the way to go. Of course, you have to do a bit of digging through the boxes first. And if you're of a "certain age" just coming here will bring you a bit of nostalgia. You may remember going to your local record store just to listen to the music playing over the speakers and see what was the latest new music album you could get. Any how, we got some money for our CD's -- not much cash but we weren't being picky. We could have also gotten trade credit. We were happy. read more

This place looks small from the outside but a lot larger than I thought, room after room of music and most for real cheap prices. Selection was great and I did not have time to look through it all yet I found a bunch of reasonable priced purchases. They do sort by first name instead of last name first so you will find Carly Simon under C not S, took a bit to get used to. Also don't park in the lot that belongs to pharmacy. Since it is a sharp quick turn off the road it is a easy mistake to make. You can park in the back if you make that mistake. read more

It doesn't get better than this. I live in San Antonio, and there aren't any decent record stores around here. And I hate having to pay an arm and a leg for shipping. Luckily, after some deep diving for a place to order my vinyl at a decent rate, I came across We Got the Beats. This will always be my first stop for new records now. I bought Weezer's new SZNZ: Spring EP on vinyl for them. Fantastic price ($21.99 just like everywhere else) but also only $3 for shipping!!! That's insane. They even shipped it so quick! I got it before anyone else I know in my Weezer fan club. They packaged the vinyl so well too. I could not have had a better experience. Vinyl records brings me back to my childhood so walking in to We Got the Beats was almost like some fascinating stroll down memory lane. Sometimes I think the Internet is in our minds. The other day I was thinking about buying a new portable record player. The next day on Facebook an ad for this location pops up. Coincidence? I don't think so guys... Located on US1, We Got the Beats pack in thousands of vinyls, cds, and even cassettes into a neatly organized shop. I'd almost dare to say it's too organized. You've got categories like, "80's singles", "90's singles", "new arrivals", "rock, pop, & folk" "hip/hop and R&B" and more. While I'd say the shop caters towards used vinyl, you'll be able to find some new ones, or current rather, here as well running anywhere from $18-$33 just based off of my glances. The pricing is really reasonable. Most used records are $3 a piece. Used singles are $2 a piece- buy 5 and get one free. Some items are priced differently which is understandable based on its rarity. The man working couldn't be nicer. As I was shopping he asked if I wanted a water to drink while I looked around. I probably spent 30-40 minutes combing the bins, looking around for a treasure. At the end of the day this place is pretty amazing. They've got a check in offer that gives you a free vinyl ($3 value). If you're looking to beef up your vinyl collection or just in the mood for some nostalgia, We Got the Beats will definitely hook you up. read more

I bought my girlfriend a record player for Christmas and since have spent a few hundred dollars on new records that I knew she would like to start off her collection. We both spoke of vinyl shops that sell used records and hidden gems for a more affordable price. On our recent trip to New York we found a few really cool record shops and wanted to find one down here. This place was awesome! Almost to the point where it was overwhelming. They have such a variety of records and a huge collection to sort through. You need hours in this place if you truly want to see what hidden treasures are to be found. I found deep house and drum and bass from the 90's that I was shocked that any shop would have. They also offer a listen to the records before you purchase in the room next to the main entrance which is cool. The gentleman working there was very helpful. He answered any questions we had and let us search until the store closed. Unfortunately, we got there a bit late and didn't know that they closed at 7! We lost track of time while we were in there from our excitement searching through all of these pieces of art. The prices are all really fair. Better than I expected. Maybe that's just because I've been spending a fortune at Barnes and Noble for new records! Hahah They have new records as well. From classics to music that has been recently released. There is truly something for everyone here. I can't wait to go back with more time to search and pick up a few random house records to bring home! read more

This is the new location of We Got the Beats. They are a classic old school record store (that's vinyl to you kids lol). They buy back old records if you want to trade them in and will special order items as well. I have been here a few times, most recently for record store day which happens every April. The owners are cool guys and they are always willing to help. They do a big party for RSD every year with a DJ and food/drinks. If you have a passion for music like me, especially vinyl, this is a cool store to check out. You could easily get lost for hours looking at all of the old and new vinyl that they have. This is not a cheap hobby either but well worth it in my opinion. read more

Probably one of the best record stores in South Florida. Fairly prices and a cool listening station to try out the record and check it out. The people here have a solid appreciation for music and are helpful with questions you may have. Not to mention the collection of CD's and tapes for those that like other media formats. This store carries new releases as well as the classics but the neat niche this store has are the bizzare and weird records you can just stumble across. My favorite being 20000 leagues under the street. Its worth going to this place to get a 3 dollar mystery record from the rows and rows of crates that are full of them and trying it out at the store or checking it out at home. read more

On a quick weekend in Ft Lauderdale, we decided to hit up some local record stores. Almost didn't come to We Got The Beats, was going to sleep on the beach instead. But we decided against that. I am ecstatic that we did, this is a fantastic little store. Not a ton of used stock (beyond 12" singles) unless I just missed it all. Found some great Clash albums in the used new arrivals. But the new sealed vinyl is where it's at. Grouped with indie/alternative, hip hop, country, classic rock, jazz, and 90's ALTERNATIVE!!! I found so many choice new represses, I had to leave a few behind. If we ever make it back to Ft Lauderdale, we will be back. read more

I recently went to We Got The Beats while I was visiting friends and family in South FL. I am originally from the area and I'm happy to see record shops popping up again after so many closed in the early 2000's... THE GOOD... -this is a crate diggers paradise! -millions of 12" singles (all genres...you name it, they prob got it!) -a good amount of reissues (if that's your thing) - prices were fair/affordable -a good amount of new records and RSD stock -listening station -had used LPs mixed in with the 12" singles -some organization throughout the store -sells other media like cassettes, cds, etc. -restroom (even more records in the back near the restroom too) -easy to find parking -prices were pretty fair -guy working was very welcoming THE BAD... -a bit too much stuff I am not interested that I needed to sift through to find stuff some stuff I did want -although I will dig through singles too, would be nice to have the LPs in their own bins -listening station headshell handle is broken...made it challenging to cue and lower the needle Overall, my first visit to We Got The Beats was positive. I walked out with 1 LP and two 12" singles. I really could have gotten on the ground and did more digging, but had other plans. All in all this is a cool shop and worth a visit...be sure you've got time and patience! read more
