We checked in for a tournament going on 4 day stay. We had asked to be closest to the elevator due to mobility issues they gave us a room way down the hall so we got moved. 2nd room the door wasn't functioning so they couldn't give us a key. The front clerk gave us his and had someone come the next day to fix. Ac was noisy. The hotel itself was hot very gross and musty. Bed wasn't too bad. We ended up booking at a new hotel after the 1st night. Breakfast wasn't the best for it being a restaurant. Great amenities, great staff, comfy beds, nice rooms. Came here for a respite before doing some adventures in Texas. Check in was seamless, front end staff were accommodating and helpful. Room is clean and well kept. Room had a small microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. The pool is nice, fairly large with cabanas and a very nice hot tub. The attached steakhouse was closed during our stay, but did offer basic breakfast fare. Not great, but enough. The fitness area had plenty of machines, free weights, and cardio. Not anything special but well stocked for a hotel gym. Overall, a surprisingly good stay. A great place to rest for any traveler. read more

"A picture is worth a thousand words." Scroll through the photos attached to this review and that'll give you an idea of what goes on at the Crowne Plaza. I 100% recommend that you DO NOT stay here! The lobby is beautiful, warm, and inviting but that's the only good thing they have to offer. We experienced nothing but problems during our entire stay! We booked two separate rooms and one was just as bad as the other one! The leaky ceiling in the bathroom, extremely low water pressure, barely warm shower ( they will tell you to let the water run for 15 mins so it can heat) dusty tables, extremely bad lighting, no AC in the hallways, no laundry room although some sites say they have one, difficultly communicating with housekeeping (you'll have to pull out your phone and use google translator) clogged toilets and the list goes on and on! The pool area looks good in photos, but it's on its last leg in reality. The pool sits in front of the parking lot so there's very little privacy. Everything in that area needs to be power washed or thrown out. There's a jacuzzi in the back corner and you couldn't pay me to get in it! They have a steakhouse on the main floor which is also the breakfast area during the morning. If you don't book the breakfast package when you make your reservation, you'll even up paying more for your breakfast than what it's worth! You'll get better breakfast at the McDonald's down the street and you'll save $$! Management will not offer any assistance or accommodations during your stay so don't expect any. The manager on duty deliberately ignored my request to speak with her and had the front desk staff lie about her whereabouts. This property is owned by a third party which explains a lot! I filed a complaint with them and it took several months for some sort of resolution. They gave me a very small amount of money back after I spent over $1k to stay there with my family. Had a great stay here this trip! Bed, towels, and room were clean and comfortable. The ac unit did make noises but overall quiet otherwise. No breakfast included but there is a hotel restaurant. One way to improve is to make sure there's enough toilet paper. When we got there there was only 1 1/2 rolls for a multiple night stay. We called at night for more but they didn't have any at the front desk either. Luckily we had some we brought as well, but this could be an issue. Well I was fired on 1/2/2024. Reason for firing is because I called OSHA and the property has a gas leak which I refuse to endure, as well as some of the rooms have mold. Both of these issues has been going on since I started working there in September but the hotel fails to warn guests or care for health and safety of their guests and staff. I'm trying to add pictures and videos. Stay tuned. But the question to ask when you call and reserve a room, is the gas leak fixed inside the hotel and outside and has the rooms with mold been properly treated and cleared. Priceline had it as a 3.5 star. Definitely 3 star, window ac, super low ceilings and the ac stinks of mold. Very unpleasant. One side of the headboard (bed) was super messed up. I was only here one night but it was a great hotel with new accommodations and excellent service. I was greeted promptly and recognized as an awards member. The front desk must have noticed my disheveled look as well (many delays and long sit on the aircraft) because she asked if I needed anything. My bonus points were awarded in 24 hours and I had the option of a drink coupon that I might have used had it been earlier. I had a King Suite and it was spacious with newer furniture. Love the showers in the newer HI hotel properties too. Rapid checkout and free fruit and breakfast in the lobby. Price was very reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend and will stay again no question. Reasonable rates and a nice hotel for business in The Woodlands are difficult to find but this place checks all the boxes for me. read more

Me and my hubby spent a 4 day stay-cation for Christmas here. A lot of things didn't work properly, the ice machine on our floor was out of order. The AC wasn't working properly. We had it on a certain temp, but it was just blowing wind. Not cold Air. It was stopping me and my husband nose up at night. We both woke up every morning for 4 mornings in a row and stopped up. (we both have chronic sinusitis)My nose bleeds when I get too hot. I had 2 nose bleeds during our stay. (Not cool) & this with it being so hot in the room, then cold when it wanted to.... But it didn't blow cold until it was in the daytime. Also the toilet has draining issues you had to hold the level for a long time in order for the toilet to flush all the way down, and sink was made poorly cause soon as you turn the water on water gets all over your belongings on the counter it was water all over the counter. They we had to wipe up every time we turned the sink on, even just to wash your hands. Beds were very uncomfortable. There are just so many things. It's not a place I would go back to unless it was some sort of emergency rest stop for 1 night. But never again for a stay-cation. read more

This is an update to an earlier review of this property. It used to be my "to go" place when visiting Houston on business. Now, I will take my business elsewhere. I am a Platinum Elite member. I made a 4-night reservation on the IHG website for this property and was booked at the "From $129.00 per night". I checked in and the usual scruffy looking front desk reviewed my reservation and handed me the paperwork to sign. Here is a breakdown of my "From $129.00 per night": Monday $129.00 Tuesday $149.00 Wednesday $189.00 Thursday $129.00 I ask the front desk clerk why the different rates and he said because of supply and demand and that they were going to be full on Wednesday hence, the higher price. I showed him my email confirmation and no mention of periodic price increases for my stay. After a long travel day, I just decided to bite the bullet. Checking into my room I experienced the following: 1. Noisy and musty-smelling air conditioner 2. Single bar of soap by the sink. None in the shower 3. The hallway on the 3rd floor near my room smelled of cigarette smoke 4. The Keurig machine had a used coffee pod still installed 5. None of the USB outlets in the room worked 6. The TV lost it's satellite signal for over 2 days I called the front desk and was told they were sorry but the hotel is at capacity and cannot be moved. At those rates, I would expect at least ONE USB outlet to work and have one working TV channel. Johnny's Steakhouse continues to go down hill in both service, quality and price increases. Beds were awesome and the room was clean but the hot water on the 3 floor does not work properly. I had a very cold shower. Thought I would have a heart attack. So in the morning I plugged the tub and opened the water full out to hot ...... two full tubs later YEA it did get warm. So I had a warm ish shower. In the morning I went down to get coffee and they said I could get it at the restaurant. There is NO a complimentary coffee at this place but she did say the water was Free. Okay I get the inflation (thanks to Joe) has made cost go up... but come on man NO FREE COFFEE. Especially after spending my money there booking a room. It's the principal to me. We checked in at 8pm, went straight to our room. At 7:30 am the bill appears under our door, with an $830 charge to the steakhouse down stairs. Notify the front desk, explain we have never set foot in the steak house. Front desk can't change our bill, the general manager has to investigate. Four hours later, still in the lobby. This is a nice, clean hotel. The beds are comfy and the lobby is pristine. My issue is that I'm here for 5 days, and on day 3 I was closing the black out curtains which seemed to be old and the whole big heavy metal thing came crashing down on my knee and foot leaving bruises. I reported this morning and the girl at the front just said "I'll call maintenance." When I returned to the room after my class it was fixed, but no sorry or call from anyone. This could have been bad for an elderly person. I hope they checked all the rooms. read more

I stayed here 4/21-4/23. I have no complaints at all. I called requesting a slightly earlier check in and they were able to accommodate me. I had a regular room with a king-sized bed which was extremely comfortable. The sheets were very soft. The hotel was almost completely sold out, but it was very quiet. No problems being able to go to sleep. Loved the walk-in shower. No long waits for hot water and they had quality towels to use. The staff was exceptional. I cannot say enough good things about my stay. I highly recommend. read more

Stayed during the Houston tornado in May '24. Reviews seemed great, 9/10 so we thought why not the price is very low and it's rated "excellent" or something very positive on Booking.com. But no. It's not even close to excellent. Basically, I now don't trust reviews on booking.com. We ended up with a room facing the woods behind the hotel which we thought should be quieter than facing the parking lot in the front of the hotel. But we were wrong. Not sure if it was the wall unit air conditioning or the heavy machinery behind the hotel, but we woke up multiple times throughout the night even while using a sound machine. Not sure who does these review on booking.com but this hotel was much older, more carpeted, darker, dirtier, and louder than we were expecting. And it had a nasty wall unit AC. No thanks. We didn't stay for the "breakfast" or another night either, of course. My advice to myself would be pay a little more and get something nice. We went to the Westin at Minute Maid. I had the pleasure of dining in at Holiday Inn & Suites Shenandoah for my birthday. The service was absolutely amazing!! Ms. Avis the hostess was the absolute best I have ever witnessed, she checked in us continuously ensuring all of our needs were met and even sung Happy Birthday to me. The atmosphere was very calm and classy. We felt like total celebrities! The food was absolutely amazing as well my favorite was the tuna nachos even THE BREAD was delicious . We had the option to dine in privacy with a dim setting for the occasion. I'm so impressed and can't wait to return. The lemon drop martinis are the best around. Great job Holiday Inn read more

I have been staying at this hotel every other week since it opened 6 years ago. Pre Covid this was a nice place to stay. Clean rooms, great service and the place heat smelled great when you walked in the front door and into your room. But the past year the place has gone down hill fast. This stay it took 30 minutes for me to take a shower due to lack of water pressure. Not to mention a cold shower. Dirty sheets left on the bed and food scraps on the floor from poor vacuum service were found on my last stay. Not sure what the issue is with this place, Covid, name change, new owners? My wife and I own an entertainment business out of Dallas-Fort Worth. We travel for live educational shows and perform virtual shows via Zoom. On Monday, December 21st, we had occasion to have both type events on the same day. We were to be in the Woodlands, Texas at 2:00PM and on a Zoom call at 5:00PM. That meant we could not return to our home (in Arlington) in time for the Zoom call so decided to find a hotel that could help us set up with high speed internet. The Crowne Plaza (Holiday Inn) Shenandoah was the choice. A pre-booking phone call confirmed that Ethernet connections were available in the guest rooms so thought we were set for a 2 day visit. Upon arrival Sunday evening, the Ethernet port in our room was unresponsive. So, Monday morning, I found Assistant General Manager David Potter at the front desk. He had me check a room next to mine and I found that Ethernet port unresponsive as well. He then helped me confirm both my laptop and the cable I had were in working order by connecting to a port in the business center. He asked someone if this could be fixed by maintenance and found out that only Wi-Fi connections were available in the guest rooms - there was no direct Ethernet cable support. Both he and I were surprised at this news. We had planned to have the Zoom call in our suite, but that was unlikely without the higher speed from an Ethernet port. For a Zoom call to look good, you need quite a bit of bandwidth (more than Zoom says). So, I was very uneasy with the idea of using Wi-Fi for the presentation. Mr. Potter started helping me by checking out options outside the box. He conferred with his fellow managers and determined that a conference room was not being used for the day (The Studio) and that it had an active Ethernet port. I checked the speed and found it 3x faster on download and 10x faster on upload than the Wi-Fi. Mr. Potter told us we could use the room (at no extra charge) for our conference call and we proceeded to turn the room into a studio. Everything worked well, the monitors and connections were all in great shape and our customer was very happy with the result. It was spectacular! All the while, Mr. Potter made sure that we were well taken care of. Mr. Potter could have easily told us to just use the Wi-Fi and it might have been satisfactory. He could have turned us over to someone else, to deal with our issues. But he didn't. He listened to us, understood the problem and went above and beyond the call to make sure we were successful. He took charge and helped us become an even more loyal customer to IHG and this Crowne Royale (Holiday Inn) hotel. read more

The hotel is just around the corner from the great shopping and restaurants in the area. A shout out to Avis who is the heart of the hotel! Very few hotels get 5 stars from me. I've stayed in many. I have over 800 reviews on another site. Am new to this site. This place has it all. I stay in over 100 hotels per year. This one was one of the best It's only 2 years old. They thought of everything. They even have charging plugins beside the bed for different phones. The a/c working flawlessly and I had it set on 63. The bed was very comfortable. I never heard a sound from the hallway. The restaurant downstairs was magnificent and it was a high end steakhouse. Definitely will be back if anywhere close to the area. read more

I'm giving this hotel one star because our stay was below poor. Starting with the miscommunication from the day before I placed the reservation until the day we checked out. Employees don't have a clue of what's going on here. Before I placed the reservation I made sure and confirmed the details about our stay specially the breakfast that we had prepaid at $10 a person even though the cards Im attaching say "complimentary" it wasn't we prepaid for the breakfast. Everyone told us "Breakfast is at the Johnny's Italian Steakhouse between 7-11am on Sunday's". Upon check in Ms. Trujillo confirmed the information and issued our breakfast cards in which she wrote with her own hand the breakfast hours. So, when we went to try to eat our breakfast at 9:30am (btw, we were starving because we had a long night participating in Easter celebration) we were not only treated like trash by the restaurant manager Trey Miller but we were sent off without even an apology or intention to make things right. This guy was the rudest, pompous and cold hearted person we have ever met. The reservations were made for me, my husband and son all of us standing there while this man showed he didn't give a damn that according to him the hotel messed up with our reservations. Regardless, his restaurant serves the hotel guests. This people also represent the hotel. We were never treated this badly before. These are horrible people with no people's skills, tact, courtesy and civility. My husband who isn't an aggressive man had to walk away because he wanted to push this guy in his face. The least these people could have done was to sincerely apologize, make things right by allowing us to have our breakfast. Specially with a child I mean come on! We paid for it, we were not asking for free food. Horrible, horrible, horrible experience. Also, when I placed the reservation I had requested a room in a "quite" area. Well, they claim I was in a quite area but we could hear the train going by every hour and cars speeding up and down the street. Very loud the noise coming from outside the hotel and we were on the top floor!! Now regarding our poor sleeping experience. We are young people with no health conditions in other words we can basically sleep on any type of mattress, we don't need special ones. But the beds, OMG are horrible and uncomfortable!! The bed was as hard as a concrete floor. The pillows were so uncomfortable than once we put our heads down the pillow went completely flat. The pillowcases one had the word "Firm" and the other "Soft". Well, we guessed they were all soft, no difference whatsoever just a different name on the pillowcase. The shower was ok, the water pressure was fine and the hot water was fast to come out. The toilet seat needed repair. Every time you sat on it will shift on you and pinch your butt. Horrible!! I reserved at this hotel based on the outstanding reviews. But, having experience at staying at different level hotels from around the world this was the worst of all. The blankets were of some cheap material that was rough on the skin and every time we moved it will make a ruffled plastic sound. What happened? You have a 2 stars Marriott TownPlace Suites across the interstate that is 10 times better than this place with great mattress, comfortable pillows, top notch service. That's were we usually stay but this time around we decided to give this place a try. Never again!!! This holiday inn sucked the big toe at every level.
