I sent the laptop in. When it came back, I could no longer get into the BIOS nor access a USB key. They also sent back a bag with 7 screws. I sent several e-mails asking what they did so I could fix it. I was told they only take out the SSD/HD and the screws were for the mounting. Both drives were screwed down so the screws must have been from something else. After getting no response from my e-mails I called and talked to manager George. He said it isn't their responsibility. He offered to have me send it back and they would put the screws in but would not guarantee that I would be able to get into the BIOS. I only want to get it back to where it was before I shipped to them. Don't send your laptop/PC.

They sent my drive to Colorado (?) without telling me that it was leaving the state and then changed my quote multiple times. It started at $600 and went all the way up to $7,000 for a full recovery that wasn't even guaranteed. They charged me a $200 fee just to analyze the drive. I will say that the manager at Micro center was really great handling my concern but that was the only positive in the whole experience. Then I worked with Chris McMacken at Secure Data Recovery who has been awesome! The experience has been entirely different and he has been helpful every step of the way. Luckily they were able to retrieve most of my data at a much cheaper cost. Its very difficult to find honest data recovery-but I would highly recommend them!! It's very nice to have an assigned account rep managing your job so you don't feel like another random customer lost in the crowd. I'm a photographer so my data was very important to me-I had a lot of old files containing my portfolio and special images that I can never get back. Chris was really understanding and helpful in managing my concerns.

I was impressed with a video of a PCB adaptation service that Donor Drives (their sister company) published. I also confirmed Donor Drives had my exact donor board in stock for $50. However, Outsource Data Recovery and Donor Drives don't answer phones or emails! But I was able to chat online with Outsource. I explained that I just wanted the PCB adaptation (replace the board and transfer over the ROM) service. They agreed that it would be $60 and if it didn't work, they would send my drive back for $12 shipping. I should have been more suspicious, especially since they didn't even mention the $50 for the donor board. I sent my media in. A week later they sent an email saying they aren't able to do the PCB adaptation. No explanation. No status on the donor board. No board replacement as I asked. Instead they say I have to get the full service total data recovery (and pay like 10x more). They won't respond to emails. I can select "Return my Media" but it says $25 to ship! They aren't honest. I realize data recovery is a big expensive business, but PCB replacement is fairly simple and a good first step. Unfortunately, this is not a business you can trust to do that.

So I started to look at reviews, and came upon a lot of bad reviews of this place and it saddens me a bit. So let me tell you a story. As I type this out on Yelp using the keyboard/Monitor and or the CPU hooked up in uniformity.... In Feb 2012 I came into some cash flow, tax returns every one knows it to be. Had some money to spare so I decided to custom build a computer. Specially after my $1100 Toshiba Quismo laptop blew up 1 year and 2 months after the warranty expired. I said to myself, it's gonna be a PC and it's going to have a heck of a lot of fans to keep everything cool and operational. So I shopped around online and happened upon this site. And I got a computer built to my specs, and it didn't cost me $7000. And this lady named Elena called me back in 2 days and we talked and she suggested a few changes to my build, and I said OK after it was thoroughly explained why those changes were necessary. And guess what folks the whole PC cost me back those days? $995.99 Yup. That's it. And shipping was free for I chose standard shipping. And then 7 days later my brand new PC showed up at the door and I eagerly hooked her up, and she was the fastest computer in our household. And I ran my FSX with full graphics cranked up. And all was fine!!! That was in the month of February 2012. I give y'all this date for a reason. Trust me!! The PC custom built by ComputerLX.com of Cleveland OH came with a 3 year warranty and lifetime FREE service and support should I ever need it. Way better warranty than Bestbuy gives out or HP or Dell or whoever. The case was a Thermaltake V4 Black edition. She sported 2 chassis fans, 1 exhaust fan, 1 CPU fan, and 1 Power supply fan. So yeah she stayed cool after whatever I threw at her. That was Feb 2012. Today...all these years later....today's date 8/9/2018 I write this review of All PC Zone aka Computer LX. And the computer that I proudly use till this day is that old Thermaltake V4 Black Edition the only upgrades I did was get rid of the Nvdia GTX560TI card and go up to an Asus Rog Strix GTX 1060TI 8 gig card with dual fans last year and I upgraded the memory from 8gb to 16. Let me tell you two shady things that they do. I. Many of the parts they sell you are old and discontinued but you pay for parts as if it's new. That is how they make a huge margin because you're paying today's prices for stuff that isn't even sold anymore. Don't believe me, just check out their website and try to find MANY of the stuff they sell. You won't be able to find the components as they have been already discontinued!!! II. They frequently mislabel their products in order to scam you. If it's a question of whether the title is selling the higher tier item or a lower tier one, they will always send you the lower tiered one. How convenient, no? In other words, mistakes coincidentally always happen to end up in their favor. What's the big deal? Well, what if I tell you that you ordered and paid for the Nvidia 1080 ti, the top of the line graphics card. But they don't actually sell any Nvidia 1080 ti but only Nvidia 1080? That's a $300 difference!! They will tell you that you should have known you would get an Nvidia 1080 because the title also says there is 8gb ram (and 1080 ti graphics cards have 12 gb). "You should have known." Hmmm.....well then why is the price of your Nvidia 1080 so close in price to the 1080 ti? Silence...and then comes the yelling. . Do you see what I mean? You'll see all this mislabeled stuff that always end up in their favor. You pay for higher tier items but get the lower tier items. Shame on you ComputerLX. I did a quick analysis of how much more you pay for ComputerLX to build the computer for you, rather than building it yourself. If it happened to be a $3800 computer you ordered, you could have built it yourself for about $3k. So that's a 25% markup for an expensive computer. I bet you the margins are much higher with cheaper computers. I can't understand how people like ComputerLX can live with themselves. You will be reported to the the District Attorney as well as MY state's Consumer Affairs. (The law of the buyer's state applies.) And don't believe that if you complain, your warranty disappears. That's BS. In many states, ComputerLX will be penalized for even saying that. Additionally, in all states, you cannot waive the implied warranty on all products that they will as they are intended to do, even if you make a complaint. SHAME ON ALL PC ZONE / COMPUTERLX.
