It helped that they had been to NOLA before and could make some personal recommendations; one of our favorite recs was the evening historical ghost tour which we might not have thought to try if it weren't for them. They also found us options for culinary tours at our request. :) Our latest request for them was for our honeymoon. We were already so focused and stressed from wedding planning that it was an easy decision to enlist Melissa and Zach's help by giving them our preferences, timeline, and budget for our honeymoon, and they helped price out some great options for us to choose from for multiple countries. We ended up choosing Mexico for the value, and it was just what we wanted and needed after our wedding festivities were over. While they will plan a nice vacation for you both domestically and internationally, I think their international experience with traveling is the most valuable thing about their services. They're adventurous and have tried both the touristy things and things off the beaten track; they won't have an issue with giving you great travel tips and good deals. :)

Melissa incorporated the ideas I had found (there was a luxury tent resort I knew I wanted to stay in) with suggestions of her own and it all worked out wonderfully and in fact exceeded my expectations. The trip was far better than anything I could have planned on my own. We had drivers to take us anywhere we wanted to go, they found us an awesome resort in Mombasa, planned activities for days that we needed them and also allowed for plenty of downtime, and worked within our budget. We never had to worry about anything once we hit the ground in Kenya. Sometimes throughout the planning process I would change my mind about things, and Melissa was always very patient and prompt with getting back to me and tailoring the itinerary exactly to my specifications. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends.

On the last day, I misplaced my phone on the bus, however, we had just gotten to the airport to go home so I couldn't go back and get it. Omar searched for it but couldn't find it. Later, I used tracking to find that the phone was in the Lansdowne bus parking lot, so I called the company, and spoke to Austin, who was very helpful. They looked for it multiple times, and when they found it, they sent it back immediately. I have my phone back now and I am very grateful for Austin, Omar, and everyone else at Lansdowne!

Jana was our guide each day and our driver was Gabriel. Both of them were so lovely and professional and incredibly knowledgeable of all things US history as well as funny anecdotes, and lesser known facts and things to see and do. My 10-year old son was really engaged and interested in everything he saw thanks to Jana's efficient yet thorough explanations and she is very good with presenting the vast amount of information! We met Christopher at a July 4th event and wish I had met him earlier! After the debacle of a bus tour I contacted Christopher to arrange a NEXT DAY tour for 3 little old ladies. He did a wonderful job, fixed us right up for an air conditioned ride with driver Sabastian. Richard was our guide and he did a phenomenal job! Richard has a passion for DC and it showed in the tour he provided. We went places we never thought about for our visit (hint: Secret Service vans at the blockade of a former presidential candidate's home. Not sure if Bill was in residence!). We purchased the Groupon on a Friday (when there were multiple trip dates available) and went to redeem the Groupon on Monday when we both could confirm our schedules, but there were zero available dates. I do not suggest using a Groupon for this company, as they have not organized themselves properly to allow those who have purchased a trip via Groupon to attend.

When we boarded the bus to the river, the drivers seemed to be having a disagreement and confusion over "which river" we were going to. I have a feeling we got taken to the "white water" route instead of the calmer, flat river route. We were all expecting a fairly relaxing lazy river experience, but it actually turned out to be a bit treacherous. There were extremely rough, jagged boulders everywhere that ripped our tubes and floating coolers and badly scratched us up. There were a half dozen rapids that flipped us and our coolers over. We spent more time getting stuck than actually drifting along the river. The $95 per person included a BBQ lunch post-tubing which was very good, and then another trip to a Virginia brewery. Though I think we all could have skipped the brewery (too tired). Tips: - Wear real water shoes or lace-up sneakers that are tightly secured. Our friends that wore flip flops or sandals all lost their shoes. - DO NOT bring anything of value with you on the water. You can leave your stuff on the bus. Wear cheap sunglasses. Our group lost 3 pairs of shoes, a few shirts, an iPhone, a speaker, and 4 pairs of sunglasses. They tell you this there, but I don't think people took it seriously. Don't. Bring. Your. Phone. - They sell ice and water shoes there, if you need them in a pinch. - Some of the life jackets BADLY reeked of body odor, so make sure you to grab a normal-smelling one. - Not all the tubes had cup holders, so try to find one that does. - Listen to them when they advise against standing up in the river. The current is strong, and it will drag you and your dangling limbs over razor sharp rocks. Stay in ya tube. All in all, we had a lot of fun as a group and would probably go again, as long as we could go on a lazier river :)
