Yeah so this crunch was DISGUSTING, FILTHY, UNSANITARY. Not a single machine was cleaned. Every one I wiped had a THICK coating of dirt & dust. There was trash all over the locker room. Holes in the walls. Broken lockers. Every stairmaster looked as if someone got on it wearing muddy boots. None of the weights were re-racked, I felt like a weirdo putting mine away and wiping down the machines. Even the doors to the gym entrance were nasty and caked with fingerprints and dirt. Didn't see a single employee walking the floor doing any sort of upkeep. I seriously doubt they ever had. The bike I ride had broken foot straps and literal chunks missing from the armrests. Even the handlebars were loose. This crunch alone is why I'll be canceling my membership and going to Anytime. I'll never be back. Just YUCK! read more

So this is a pretty big facility, but it's really nothing special at all. It isn't a bad gym, but at the same time, it could have been kept up a bit better. I remember years ago when they they first put the steering that was new and shining, I haven't been in many years and this is definitely different. I went there for a quick workout, it wasn't overly clean but they could have done some cleaning. They probably should have restocked a lot of the sanitizing wipes, because sometimes I had to go around trying to find one that actually has some wipes in it. Also, probably my biggest thing was all the weights were not organized. If I'm going to go and trying to get some dumbbells, I'm trying to get a 40, and there's a 70 lb weight and I have no idea where the 40 lb weight is, I take issue with that. That's delaying my workout when I'm just trying to go ahead and find the weight in the appropriate place. You're supposed to re-rack your weights and put them in the appropriate place, they don't enforce that. So that is a little, or a lot Irritating. Would I go back, yes I probably will because it was convenient. But at the same time, it seems like it's going down. I didn't really interact with anybody at the facility so I don't really know what the customer service was like. But it's a gym, you go in and work on your own so you don't actually need to. read more

I have been trying to transfer my membership from the Dearborn location to the Kentwood location since JANUARY 30th 2025 and nothing has been done. I have called and asked how long it takes to transfer and i always get told its 2-3 days.. i told a young lady who answered the phone over a week ago that i wanted to transfer and she said she would note it down in my account. Its been 13 business days at this point. I called again a few days ago and was told that i didn't have any notes in my system of any transfer. I have the initial email for my transfer request, I have sent multiple messages on the app, sent their Instagram and Facebook pages messages as well and nothing has been done and none of my messages have been acknowledged or read.. I live over 160+ miles away from this location and just want to transfer my membership to the location close to me. read more

Crunch fitness in Dearborn, Michigan is the absolute worst for many reasons. First off the gym is overly crowded with entitled people holding equipment with a water bottle then get upset after you move it and it's been sitting there for 20 minutes. Secondly, you can conveniently sign up online but for some reason you can't cancel online or via phone or via text after they text you 1000 times about a bill that you're trying to cancel. Next in order to cancel you have to cancel in person, but there's not a manager there on staff to cancel. Oh yeah did I mention you have to cancel with a manager, and the manager works 9 to 5 type of hours, don't work on Sunday and leave early on Saturday's, when they're supposed to work to 5pm,m. The fact that you even need a manager cancel a membership is insane. So if you're like me you don't find out about this until you try to cancel. So if you work seven days 12 hours and you try to squeeze in on a Saturday to cancel and there's no manager there and you come back 2/3months later on a Sunday and there's no manager again then you finally come back on a business day and the manager tells you you have three months a late fee and three months of membership fee and you have to pay all that before you cancel. The facility is unsanitary, the members on the whole exercise zero basic gym etiquette, and the atmosphere is toxic and unwelcoming. If you like a gym where you need navigate your way through the literally hundreds of mismatched weights strewn across the floor, where you can expect to be badgered by creepy hooligans, and where canceling your membership feels like you're the protagonist in a Kafka novel, this is the place for you. read more

I was one of the people really adamant about coming here thinking it was going to be just a glorified Planet Fitness. Boy, I was so wrong! This place is amazing. It has something for EVERYONE. New to the gym? Join plenty of the classes they offer. Need a personal trainer, they got it. Prefer to CrossFit? They got a little area for that too. Like to lift some heavy weights? They got you covered with dumbbells up to 120. They even have about six deadlift/squat racks! Do you like to tan? Lay down bed? Stand up bed? Prefer to avoid the health risks associated with indoor tanning and want a spray tan! Well they even have that too!!!!!!! I know I sound a bit like an advertisement, but this place sells its self. With memberships starting at $9.99 you can't beat it. Not to mention the sauna! As for now, considering the place just opened up, it's very clean. I will wait to see how well it's maintained , that's the important part. Considering I've gone to plenty of commercial and private gyms, this is definitely on my list of top gyms with good equipment. This gym has pretty much everything for all types of workouts and whatever regime you're looking to do. Our entire family signed up and have been satisfied so far. It does get busy sometimes and difficult to get on some machines during peak. The personal trainer services they have are great as well. I have been training with Lawrence who has taught me so much and has made my gym experience that much better and I have seen incredible results! The staff is also great. Members have horrible etiquette, and the gym is dirty. They don't clean up after themselves and leave weights/plates on equipment, on the floor, in the cardio room. So many trip hazards. Employees try to clean up, but members should be cleaning up after themselves. Employees shouldn't have to do it. They should just be enforcing the rules. An example from tonight: I waited 12 minutes to get on a squat rack. A member tells me he's done, and he started to walk away from the squat rack leaving the bar fully loaded, with 3 red and 1 blue per side. I asked him "aren't you going to unrack your weights?" He just looked at me. I said "it's the rules." He hesitated and drank water and seriously was NOT going to do it. He then walked over there, took off the clips and threw them and then took off 1 blue and 2 reds per side and still left a red on each side and walked away. I talked to the manager about it, and he said he would put a warning in the members account. Bad gym etiquette is a rampant issue at this gym and an aggressive effort needs to take place to correct it. On another night, I saw a member drop-kick 2 foam rollers. There is also not enough equipment for the number of members. Weight floor, squat racks, bench presses, etc. are jam packed from 4:30pm until 10pm. I asked if they plan on getting the right equipment for the demographic, and they said no. Cardio equipment is 25% utilized but takes up so much space. They need to get rid of some cardio and get at least 1 more squat rack, 6 more moveable benches, at least 2 more flat-bench bench press racks, another full set of plyo boxes, extend the cable station by 1 more full station, a real adductor machine, a real abductor machine, a Glute Drive or 2 would be awesome too. I asked if they plan on capping the membership number since the gym is so full, and they said no and basically disregarded my comments:concerns. Fact is, membership should have been capped long before now or the equipment right-sized for what people use. I had the highest membership for about a month, but the group exercise classes were terrible. Teachers were offbeat, had bad form, and didn't know how to properly build a cardio sequence as a 32-count. Hopefully, they have improved. This gym has been open a year I think, and it was ruined within months of being open. I tried the Taylor location. It's nice, but Dearborn is closer for me. That's why I keep going. I also like how they have so many weights in 2.5 lb increments. read more

Gym has decent equipment and it's usually in working order. Definitely cleaner than LA fitness. Not the biggest gym and also gets crowded. Especially by the free weights. I almost never go in that area because the amount of people gives me anxiety. My biggest complaint is the AC. It's sooo hot right now and it's difficult to max out my workout because the heat makes me feel lethargic. If they would lower the temp in here that would at least deserve two more Update 8/13 AC has definitely improved. read more

Eh, decent gym. I had to pay to get my personal training payments blocked. I asked multiple times for them to cancel payment for personal training lessons, but every worker said they couldn't? One worker even mentioned that they tell you can cancel anytime "just to get you to sign up, but you can't actually cancel". Pretty crazy. Wouldn't recommend. I love Crunch Fitness!! The one in East Lansing is my favorite. However, the one in Dearborn is a disappointment. Every Crunch fitness that I have been to have had heavily enforced mask and a commitment to cleanliness. This crunch fitness is almost the exact opposite. I almost couldn't enjoy my workout seeing at all the no mask around me. I was so uncomfortable. I'm aware people need to wipe some sweat, catch a breathe, etc. however, having full conversations or just out right having the mask next the workout machine!? Unacceptable. Went back to the gym for the second time today. The first time I didn't even go in because there were so many people with mass off and it was jam-packed. After today, it wasn't much better but I decided to really get a good look in how they are running the gym. They advertise so called "upgraded sanitary measures". I work in a local hospital. Covid cases from Dearborn are on the rise. I'm not surprised, given the gym is basically operating like we are not in an ongoing pandemic. I've included a screenshot off Crunch's Dearborn location specific website. I saw a violation of basically every state law and an absence of any specific measures they promised. They do have signs on the door saying you need to wear a mask, but this seems to be just for show. 75% of the people in the gym were either not wearing a mask or had their noses hanging out. There is no social distancing. Some of the cardio equipment has signs on them saying not to use them to put a distance between machines, and I saw at least three people blatantly remove the signs and put them on a different machine. Everyone is congregated in large close groups around the cable and weight machines, breathing all over each other, masks hanging from their faces. Very few were wiping down machines before or after use like the gym said you had to do. Maybe that's because half of the sanitation stations I visited were out of paper towels. I saw one hand sanitizer station mounted to the wall near the desk, none anywhere else? They make you sign a piece of paper saying that you agree to wear a mask at all times, each time you visit, but obviously this is not enforced at all. It seems like they have you sign the piece of paper more so that they can do 'contact tracing' when an outbreak inevitably occurs. The staff at the front desk just stands there on their phones, so i don't know why they would advertise that they would be working extra hard to do extra deep cleans. And honestly, for what they probably get paid, I don't even think it's fair to expect some preteen to confront a guy twice their size about not wearing a mask. The gym was not limited in capacity or limited to an hour workout as advertised. it was just as busy as any other day before covid. They said they were limiting guest passes to members, but are giving away guest passes to bring in even more people. None of this makes sense. Other people I have talked to at other gyms told me that they were straight up told that the manager watches video of the floor and if he sees anyone with a mask off, they have their membership removed. I'm going to cancel my membership tomorrow and look for a gym that takes covid seriously. I've worked in an ER and saw firsthand how horrible it is to watch somebody die of this disease alone. It is a disgrace, an insult, and straight up dangerous to see the lack of responsibility this gym feels in protecting its community. DO NOT COME HERE if you are older, immunocompromised, have a chronic illness, or are otherwise part of a high risk group. read more

The facility it self was clean. Staff is friendly. I kinda went around 6ish to see what kind of classes is offered in the evening. Well to my surprise, NO evening classes happening. As I continued the tour with Mohamed ( nice guy), I asked to see the sauna which is the most important thing I wanted AGAIN to my surprise It was out of order. I asked how long had it been out of service and how long would it be before returning to services customers. I was told at the 1st of September. Let me say this I'm not a member. In a membership I 'm looking for particular amenities and the sunna was a deal breaker along with not having staffing equipped for multiple group classes to attend at varies times. read more

Patty, one of the previous reviewers, is right on the money in her review of this location. As an overall chain, I would give Crunch 4-5 stars, but this location is bad. The members do not clean up after themselves and are lacking in basic gym etiquette such as cleaning up weights and wiping down equipment when it is sweated on. You want to lift heavy weight? Then put that heavy weight BACK, it's so simple. I can't really expect the workers to clean up all the time. They really really need to switch out much of the cardio equipment that sits unused and put in more weight equipment, which is usually crowded. The new generation of fitness has embraced weight lifting fully and the need for so many cardio machines is just not present any longer. This location is convenient for me but I go to the Taylor location instead as much as possible; the members there can handle putting the weights back and cleaning up after themselves. read more

I called to cancel my membership which automatically renewed automatically and was talked to as if I was stupid. I was passed around from person to person and ended up with a person who acted like he wasn't the manager and he couldn't assist me. I later discovered that he was indeed a manager when I decided to pop up inside the gym. This gym is a franchise location and corporate cannot help you if there are any issues with your membership because they cannot access your membership information. I asked to speak to the franchisee but, was informed by Nick that the franchisee had 7000+ members and couldn't deal with my issue. I was given the number to ABC Financial who is the collection agency that they gym uses to talk to about a refund by the manager but, he knew that they couldn't help me. When I called back I was told I wasn't the only person who has dealt with this issue and he couldn't do anything for me at all. This seems to me as a person with 10+ years in customer service that the company would've reviewed this and fixed it by now. read more

I don't recommend this gym for their lack of transparency when it comes to billing. There is supposed to be no cancellation fee when you pay month to month. Upon cancelling (because i'm moving) they told me I owe nothing and let me cancel. Then my bank account got charged $70, two days after I canceled! When you call the gym, it's a bunch of new people that cant answer your question. Nobody has been able to get this resolved for me AND Nobody from corporate has contacted me back after I reached out. At this point I may go to my bank and try to get the charge reversed, but overall this is a real hassle when I already have to deal with moving. read more

Policy or harassment? This review is solely being done because I as a former member was singled out and harassed by Matthew of Crunch Dearborn, who disregarded the fact that there were MANY members in the facility today not adhering to CDC guidelines. This gym has, to its right, a policy in regard to masks which I respect and adhere to. These measures are incredibly important in a time where everyone's actions should be holistic towards themselves but also others. However, there's something to say as to when the line is crossed between gentle reminders and overtly intimidating behavior. Taking a drink of water whilst being over 6 feet away, lowering one's mask temporarily, and then remasking is not grounds to membership termination. COVID 19 is serious and requires patience and due diligence, not aggressive targeting which deems adults as childish examples. This gym is doing it's part on having a policy, but how it is implemented needs to be revaluated if it truly follow its mission statement: "our mission has been to make working out a good time. ... Crunch is more than a gym." read more

I lost nearly 40 pounds due to a severe dental abscess operation that prevented me from eating at least two regular meals a day last year. I was very shy and timid to have myself seen in public trying to regain my health that I once had, prior to surgery. There were three fitness facility locations that I considered, once I received an official review from a medical examiner that it was safe for me to eat at least 5 regular meals a deal to better supplement my gym sessions, to reunite with my gym journey. I decided Crunch Fitness Dearborn provided a judgement - free exercise atmosphere, for not just myself but all of the regular members. In the past month that I had been exercising here, the staff has supported me with superb customer service that demonstrated what camaraderie and social support is all about. On one instance, Ryan and Ali had assisted me one time when I attempted to lift a tremendous amount of weight that would of nearly left me in a critical condition. I didn't ask for a spot because of my shy state of my mind due to my malnourished physical structure. I couldn't manage to lift the 225 pounds away from my chest at the flat bench, and before any person exercising came to help me, the front desk staff members arrived first to my aid and I could only thank God to keep blessing them. During another supportive moment, I misplaced my wallet with all of my active credit cards and cash in the men's locker room. A gentleman, and Good Samaritan,--Ali found my wallet in the sauna room after many numerous attempts. Overall , I made quality friends here at this gym location and would recommend to anyone in the area! read more

I started here when it first opened and it was okay, it then started to get extremely crowded because of their cheap 10$-20$ memberships so i think to start kicking people out they started implementing a rule that u cant have a bag with u or chalk, and thats big for powerflifters and or others who are serious about working out, this gym is only for mediocre people who want to get "toned". I've never seen a place where basic gym etiquette is so blatantly ignored. If I go to use a bench press, squat rack, or any machine that uses plate weights, it's a miracle if I don't have to rack the previous user's load before using myself. The free weight section is interesting in that you can count on having to hunt down any dumbbell between 5-40 lbs as they are more often than not, strewn across the gym. The place is cleanlier than some gyms I've been to, but it still surprised me to see how many people never bother to wipe the equipment they use down. They do have plenty of paper towel/sanitizer stations, but that only does so much good when half of them are usually empty. I've been to two of their other Metro Detroit locations, and both were noticeably better than Dearborn. I've since switched to the Taylor location and it's the best fitness-related decision I've made since I decided to start exercising again. read more

The equipment is visually fine but there are so many machines that are not in working order. Several with out of order signs, and some that inexplicably are not functional yet have no sign (two out of four lat pulldown stations do not feel safe with excess tension/jerky motion, same with leg press). Men's room has repeatedly closed or had multiple sinks out of order. Gym is typically mostly full. Mornings are fine as most people are there to work out. Evenings it seems much more like social hour and many machines are occupied by members not actually exercising. Gym is frequently littered with random equipment with no accountability. No consistent guest check in policy, as some employees just ask for identification, some want guest to input information into ipad upon every visit, and one flat out argued that my son's ID was not valid (it's a paper driver's license that hasn't been an issue the entire time I've been a member - since mid-summer). Cancellation policy is nonexistent; I've been told that to cancel I must pay the balance of the contract. That is not cancellation, that's early payment in full. While I later read this clause in my contract, this was not expressed to me upon sign up (and entire staff has turned over since then). This is ultimately my own fault, but a very hostile policy. LA Fitness is a far less stressful and welcoming environment with a much higher percentage of working equipment. Will not be returning. read more

Fantastic gym and cheap! I joined when they first opened their doors and have been a member since. They have various options for membership but you get all the great equipment for $10 a month. Everything is clean, well maintained, and they have a wide range of hours to suit everyone. Keep in mind this isn't Planet Fitness so they carry real machines and heavy weights. With that you get the muscle heads grunting, socializing more than lifting, and the slew of Jersey Shore rejects getting in your way but that's any gym. Mixed in you have middle/older aged people and a fairly good 50/50 balance of men and women. It's a great place to workout and the best in area I've found. read more
