Mortimer's Marine Ltd. -- known more affectionately as Mortimer's Point -- is one of my favorite…read moremarinas on the Lakes because of the following: 1) They sell bulk candy, all of it gummy. I absolutely cannot resist gummy candy, especially if you make it sour and coat it in sugar. Pick up a brown paper bag (reminiscent of school lunches all those many years ago), a pair of miniature tongs, and go to town. Keep track of the number you put in your sack (they're $0.05 apiece), tell the cashier and pay, and you're on your way to a candy coma. 2) There's an old-fashioned Esso sign hanging out in the middle of the Lake, letting you know Mortimer's point is up around the bend. I *love* this Esso sign, all by its lonesome in the middle of the water. I think I have more pictures of *it* than of the family up there. 3) MP doubles as an "airport." Meaning, this is where the rich folk from Toronto (who aren't rich enough to have a seaplane garage at their cottage) land and store their seaplanes. So there's always several moored at Mortimer's. We like to eyeball them whenever we're gassing up the boat. The novelty of a seaplane really never wears off... 4) There never seem to be any adults around. It's like this place is run entirely by children and teens. It gives you an oddly exciting, "Children of the Corn" adrenaline rush. And when you push off the dock to leave, you kind of feel a sense of relief that you didn't fall victim to He Who Walks Behind the Rows.

We purchased coupons labeling the experience as a ziplining tour, but it would more accurately be…read moredescribed as tree trekking. It wasn't what we were expecting, with very little ziplining (1 'big' zipline lasting about 20s, a smaller 5s one, and finally propelling down at the end of the tree trek). We were a group of four adults, with a man and his daughter joining us with our guide. The whole thing seems to be geared more to the 8-14 age group, as the kids/young teens were light and short enough to walk the tightropes etc as intended. For the rest of us, especially the three men in our group, the height of the wires and the way things were balanced made it very difficult for anyone over the height of 5'5 to comfortably navigate themselves through the trees. My boyfriend is 6'2, as was the father who joined us, and they had a lot of trouble with the wires hitting their heads and shoulders at the wrong angles. The one younger person in our group had a much easier time as the ropes and wires were never interfering with her trek. About halfway through our trek, a manager in a black ball camp came to the base of the zipline/tree trek areas and began to shout at the guides. It seemed everyone was doing something wrong in his opinion, even the guests were shouted at (one fellow for not doing a particular tightrope the "challenging" way, another for starting slowly on one of the tougher lines). He made everyone very nervous, and I don't think he realized how unprofessional his behaviour was. Nobody wants to see the guide in charge of ensuring your safety be continually (and loudly!) berated. All in all, I'd say this would be fine for kids or young teens, but as far as the website's claim about being good for groups or corporate training, I'd look somewhere else. Our group would like to go again, but we're going to see if we can find a place geared more specifically toward adults.

I had a great time here!…read more Eaglecrest accommodated the extra-large group of 14 climbers we had, even though the maximum group was somewhere closer to 10. I was under the impression it was going to be 3 hours of zip-lining, but it wasn't, it was mostly a high-ropes course. It was a bit disappointing at the time, but was still fun though! The high ropes course had three levels of difficulty, and you got back on the ground between each difficulty, giving anybody who wanted it, the chance to stay on the ground. The staff there were pretty knowledgeable and helpful throughout. One young man in particular, Tyler, was very helpful and encouraging to the slower, more afraid members of our group. He knew exactly who to joke with and who needed words of encouragement and was very charismatic in general. We all completed the entire course, and it was a very rewarding experience. A bit of a team-building exercise, as you could yell back and forth to the trees in front or behind you to encourage people in your group. It was some physical activity, but not too strenuous. I did have some difficulty doing the games 'properly' as I am a little shorter than most, and was pretty close to the minimum height. Some of the games I couldn't reach the top ropes on, and some I couldn't reach the second foot rope on, so I had to do it all 'cheating' with both feet on one rope. I still had lots of fun though. We were also allowed to bring cameras with us which was really cool. Tyler warned me about having my camera on and dangling at my hip, because the lens would scrape and get damaged but I chose to ignore his advice. My camera was fine in the end, and I got lots of great shots of everybody [and more importantly didn't hold up the group]. I would recommend having someone on the ground to take pictures as well. All in all, a fun experience, a great way to get up and get moving a little bit, as well as enjoy the fresh air outside. Would definitely return [but not too soon as the courses would be exactly the same. Would go back next year though!]

Though, it's one of the most expensive golf courses in Ontario, there are few of the same quality but cheaper alternatives nearby. I guess people who have cottages in Muskoka can afford playing in thus club... We were visiting mid-week and it was two days before they were closing for the season, so there were not too many people even though the weather was perfect. The star attraction for me was the restaurant, the lamb was delicious but everything was seriously overpriced.

When the server was taking desser orders he asked and she said I thought it was coming out $ then was told No. There was no other explanation given, no apology or anything. He just didn't get his meal. As for mine, when you may $14 for potatoes you expect the to be hot when they were only lukewarm. I ordered my beef tenderloin medium rare but it was more like rare/blue. I was able to eat some before it was too rare for my liking. I was afraid to send it back seeing my friend had no meal. When you pay good money for a meal you expect to a) get it& b) that it would be hot and delicious not just fine. There was no excuse either it wasn't super busy or anything. Anyway, I would think twice before I go there again.

Not happy with this company. I got a bobcat and the first day we had it, it broke down because…read morethey didn't service it properly. When I rented it I declined the 10% damage waiver because when I asked the guy what it covered he said it covered carelessness, which would not be happening on my site. The bobcat didn't work well again a few days later, so I called again, they came out to look at it and did a few things, including changing the belt. With these two issues, we were unable to use it for a few hrs. When they came to pick it up at the week, one of my guys wouldn't get off the machine, saying they could wait because the issues with the machine set us back a few hrs. They called me saying I was being charged by the hr, so of course I called my guy to tell him to get off the machine, which he did. I got the invoice and they charged me the damage waiver of $144 and one hr of waiting $100. They said if I didn't pay for the waiver they would be charging me $85/hr for the Mechanic that came out. The reason the machine wasn't working was not because of us being careless. They also charge $2.10 a liter for gas if they need to fill it when returned, which was my bad, I should have made sure it was filled. At this point I've requested a copy of the damage waiver to see if it states covering for a Mechanic to come out and fix the machine because of it breaking down due to improper servicing. Conveniently their scanner is broken and will scan it to me when its fix which gives them time to add what they need to. Will never use this company again and will continue to tell this story to my friends/family in this business.
