The history of this winery can be traced back to the 1920s, when a rich mining family moved west from Michigan and purchased the land where it sits on. The winery business actually started in the 1970s by several businessmen from the San Joaquin Valley. 50+ years later, it remains one of the more recognizable names in the NorCal wine industry. I got here with my buddy David A. and his wife at around 4:15pm. The first thing that struck me was the tranquility. I was dealing with a major protest in my city that morning, so the peacefulness was truly appreciated by me. Aside from that, nature's beauty was on full display. The sky was blue, the hills were green, and the temperature was a perfect 72F. Sarah couldn't have asked for a better day to have her wedding! The ceremony was held in a covered area near the chateau, with seating set up for 100-150 guests. After the ceremony, a pre-reception cocktail party was held in the courtyard area. After about an hour or so, the dinner reception was held under the giant palm tree. The food and service for the entire event were fantastic. From appetizers to main course to desserts, the food was well prepared and delicious. Service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. There were a couple minor hitches during the reception, but they resolved them quickly. Chateau St. Jean is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As a non-drinker, I don't know enough about their wine to have an opinion on their quality, but I think you will really enjoy the serene setting.

Evan server at this winery was very informative, extremely friendly and sat with us while we tasted the wines. I really liked their Pinots, red blend, and the rosé. Normally, I don't like Pinot but theirs was very good. The rosé was also very nice. The decor inside the tasting room was very fun. It had different pictures several areas that you could sit at with tables or couches. I highly recommend this winery. It was a great experience. Thank you Evan.

The wines were fantastic, the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed, but what really made the visit unforgettable was our server, Evan. Evan was beyond great -- incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely fun to spend time with. He walked us through each wine with the perfect balance of expertise and personality, making everything feel approachable while still giving us deep insight into the vineyard, the winemaking, and the stories behind the bottles. He read our group perfectly, kept the energy light and enjoyable, and made sure we had an amazing time from start to finish. It's rare to have a tasting host who can elevate the entire experience, but Evan did exactly that. Because of him, the wine, and the overall vibe, we left already talking about when we're coming back. Can't wait for our next visit -- highly, highly recommend!

You got to cut your own lavender with a pair of shears and prices for a bunch of lavender were incredibly reasonable. The fields are small but pretty and right next to a vineyard, so great scenery ala Sonoma. The gift shop was in a barn and was crowded and warm and a bit under lit, but there were some cool products in there. Seems like a lot of their own products and would be great if it could be more earthy and include possibly things like lavender honey or other natural products. Unfortunately, it was very crowded which detracted from the experience and also they had no bathrooms and many parking and traffic challenges. Took us about 20 minutes to exit once we got onto the exit road. Sounds like they may have closed their open house this year because of traffic challenges, but hope they can resurrect as it was a good time and would love to have just more organization and thoughtfulness around how to manage such large crowds.
