My favorite spot in the area, love their wines and the tasting room expeirence was such a fun time. We visited with a party of 6 and had the place to ourselves due to the early time slot. We tried a couple of their flights and everyone fell in love with these wines. The guy taking care of us was knowledgeable, passionate about wine and the area, and also happened to be a lot of fun. Located in a shopping center off the main road this is a great spot to stop and explore (multiple tasting rooms, a cafe, a beer bar, market, and so on). Easy parking. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Chill, intimate tasting room with great wines and service. We were staying in the area with some friends and wanted to walk to a tasting room that was part of the Priority Wine Pass network (prioritywinepass.com). We first took a gander at VJB next door but decided it wasn't our vibe and kept going until we peeked into this place. Small and unassuming, we were enticed by the laid-back atmosphere and a friendly greeting by George, the server on duty. He was a really great guide and we whiled away two pleasant hours learning all about the Ty Caton vineyards and tasting some really great wines (lots of different Cabernets, especially). It never got too crowded and hectic on the Sunday afternoon of our visit, which was fine by us. We would definitely visit them again the next time we're in the area! read more

Service: Phenomenal 2nd visit to this location. One of my childhood friends is a member and brought the entire group (12 people) to the tasting room. We had a great time tasting a selection of red blends, cab, merlot, Zin's, etc. He brought out some older vintages which were delicious. Ambiance; Gorgeous looking tasting room, very professionally ran location. Plenty of seating at the bar along with several high top tables and chairs. The room is small, but it does a great job accommodating everyone. We were impressed enough with their selection we brought 6 bottles of the 2022 red blend and their 2022 cab sauv. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Ty Caton Vineyards. Our group of 8 was treated to quite an education by Paul Gillmore. We learned quite a bit about the history of the vineyard and of wine making in general. This is a small family owned winery with a very personal touch. The wines are great and reasonably priced. The tasting room is in an old horse barn that has been beautifully refurbished. I would highly recommend their wine tasting and the wine. read more

I am always a little bit skeptical to book a tasting at a tasting room because I never know what to expect, whereas I know how much I love a tasting that overlooks a vineyard. We decided to try out Ty Caton because it was on the Priority Wine Pass that we have which gives you 2-for-1 tastings here. The Priority Wine Pass has led us to some incredible wineries that we would not have otherwise tried, and this is one of those wineries! Our sommelier was George and he was a big reason that we loved this tasting! We did the Featured Estate tasting which was $25 but they also have a Reserve Cabernet testing for $30. We wanted some more variety so decided to go with the estate tasting. The tasting comes with 6 different wines plus George was generous and allowed us to taste some of the cabernets as well. We loved learning all about Ty Caton, the family history behind the winery, and the different regions in Sonoma where Ty has vineyards. We learned about the difference between the "Syrah" and the "Sirah" and how the Ballfield Syrah is named that because the vineyard where it is grown used to be a ballfield! George lives right around the corner from the vineyard and has a first-hand experience of talking about what the vineyard entails. He has such a passion for this winery, the story, and the family. He gave us great information about all the wines we tried, was friendly and funny, and made it feel like we were at a laidback gathering at a friend's house. This was truly the definition of an intimate tasting experience which can be hard to come by. We ended up loving several of the wines here; we don't usually buy many bottles but we did purchase a bottle of the Upper Bench Merlot! We loved this winery, we spent an hour and a half here and the time flew. We certainly would have stayed longer if we didn't have dinner reservations to get to. Our host, George, was accommodating , pleasant, and knowledgeable. I've had the pleasure of trying Ty Caton once prior to this tasting, so I decided upon visiting Sonoma to stop in. The single vineyard Cabernets are incredible and truly exemplify Sonoma Cabernet; finesse and power together. They are not the only high quality cabernet producer in Sonoma, but they offer fantastic value: Californian wine can seem exceedingly expensive, Ty Caton's wines are inclusive and affordable, and punch well above their weight. The tasting itself was guided, generous, and fun. Don't expect all of the frills of huge houses in Napa; this is a good thing. No pretentiousness, just great wine in a nice setting.
