This place has some tasty Chardonnay's to choose from. Susan was our host . She was bubbly and engaging. They have case sale of wines . They were focused on. This place was a bit busier. It does have a nice ambience outside. Perfect for drinking or tasting some wine.
This was our second stop of the day. The grounds are beautiful. We were slated to be seated in one of their rose gardens, but due to previous rain (the day before and in the morning) we were moved inside. The wines were good and the atmosphere was fun. Mostly wouldn't return though.
We had a lovely tasting experience here yesterday. The grounds are dream like. We tasted several wines and they even added an extra one based on my preference. We added a charcuterie board which was delicious.
Jordan was extremely knowledgeable about the wine at St. Jean. There weren't many people at the time, however, tables did start to fill up after we were seated. Jordan ensured our food order came out on time and properly prepared. We did have people in our party who did not drink alcohol, and the lemonade he recommended was delicious! If you're wondering, it was a full bottle. So we were able to enjoy it in between tastings. I have been to Napa and been to wine tastings as the DD (I was pregnant every other time lol). But as my first experience, the cab frank was my favorite. The cab souv was my favorite, and I'm happy it was the last one we left off with. The views were beautiful from the drive up and into the chateau. Personally, I don't enjoy crowds, but I would not mind the ambience and understand if there were more visitors. I highly recommend a visit.

My gf's man is a member of the Foley Family portfolio, so he gets member tastings here. I'm pretty sure everyone did the wine club flight and I did the experience. When I was younger (like in the 90s?), my dad told me about cinq cepages. It was something like no 2 on the wine spectator list. So I wanted to try the most recent vintage. I have no idea how much the chateau flight cost or if it's just a supplement for club members. I just picked it since it had the 5 grapes on it. It was kinda gloomy and we sat outside. We may have been one of the few groups at the winery at this time. The tasting was fine. I don't think they deviate from the menu provided. I'm used to being able to taste whatever is open in hopes of finding a bottle I will like. I ended up getting the cinq cepages since I liked it. And it'll be fun to open it with my dad one day. What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL property! Chateau St Jean is straight from a story book, I felt as if I had transported to a winery in France. My group had a table reserved in a lovely, secluded courtyard to enjoy the wine options at Chateau St. Jean. They brought us some bubbly to sip on which was delicious. We also ordered some food off a lunch menu. I shared the Italian sandwich with my friend and and it was absolutely delicious! The food was fresh, the wine was flowing, and the views were insane. The staff working was very kind and accommodating. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Service 5/5 - from the moment we checked in with Jenny through our experience with Richard and Rhonda we had a great time. We learned about the wines, grapes vines and history but they were so personable. Our visit was very pleasant with laughter. Food 5/5 - we shared a petite charcuterie between my husband and myself. It t was enough food for the 2 of us. It paired well with the wine. The wines were decent. Everyone's palette is different so I encourage everyone to come in and visit to make their own judgement. Ambiance 5/5 - beautiful surroundings. Picnic tables for groups to enjoy food and drink. It was so peaceful

Really great service and wine with a chateau courtyard view! We had a very sweet woman teach us about their wine during our tasting. I loved the pinot noir - it was so smooth and delicious. To add, their pear tart was so delightful and a perfect add to our tasting. I would recommend getting a tart with your wine. Great and calming vibes :)

This winery property is gorgeous. We are spending several days in Napa, and the plans include trips to a number of wineries. Tasting prices in general have soared, and we already know a number of wines that are favorites. We arrived at this property on a Wednesday afternoon, when things were not busy. They allow the purchase of a full bottle to be enjoyed on the property, so we bought a bottle of 2019 Reserve Chardonnay and headed for the garden, where they have tables. The landscaping is gorgeous, with fountains, roses, boxwood, and grape vines labeled so you can see the various varieties. We saw hummingbirds and soaked up the views. It was heaven.
One of the most beautiful properties that we visited. The grounds were gorgeous and the factory/plant also had a great outdoor view. We came had a little lunch and continued with a tasting. Great service just a little forward trying to get the memberships for the wine club. Other than that very large an great property, indoor or outdoor tastings. The lunch was a bit over priced but I get it's sonoma.

Chateau St. Jean was the venue of my good friend Sarah's wedding on 06/14/2025. This beautiful winery is located in the small town of Kenwood, which is on the north end of the Sonoma Valley. The history of this winery can be traced back to the 1920s, when a rich mining family moved west from Michigan and purchased the land where it sits on. The winery business actually started in the 1970s by several businessmen from the San Joaquin Valley. 50+ years later, it remains one of the more recognizable names in the NorCal wine industry. I got here with my buddy David A. and his wife at around 4:15pm. The first thing that struck me was the tranquility. I was dealing with a major protest in my city that morning, so the peacefulness was truly appreciated by me. Aside from that, nature's beauty was on full display. The sky was blue, the hills were green, and the temperature was a perfect 72F. Sarah couldn't have asked for a better day to have her wedding! The ceremony was held in a covered area near the chateau, with seating set up for 100-150 guests. After the ceremony, a pre-reception cocktail party was held in the courtyard area. After about an hour or so, the dinner reception was held under the giant palm tree. The food and service for the entire event were fantastic. From appetizers to main course to desserts, the food was well prepared and delicious. Service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. There were a couple minor hitches during the reception, but they resolved them quickly. Chateau St. Jean is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As a non-drinker, I don't know enough about their wine to have an opinion on their quality, but I think you will really enjoy the serene setting. read more

Beautiful property. Rhonda was great! Knowledgeable about the wines and served what we liked. My husband liked the Malbec Moonlight 2021 the best. They do need to update their bathrooms to reflect how well they take care of the entrance and greeting rooms. We didn't have a reservation and just did a walk in. read more

We were in the area and decided to visit this winery on a whim. It's quite large with multiple gardens separated by hedges. There are several different buildings, but the one for visitors is pretty easy to spot. Inside there's a large room with lots of gift items, a small deli, and tasting area. The gifts are pretty typical souvenirs and the deli did not have much selection at all. The grounds are really well maintained. There's an area where they have several small vines growing with labels displaying the type of grape. There are several different gardens with tables and chairs, and some with picnic tables. I believe some gardens are exclusively for club members, but we wondered around anyway and no one said anything. It was a nice visit. It felt a little more touristy than some of the smaller wineries we enjoyed. read more

We had a really great experience when visiting Chateau St Jean. Our group booked the bocce ball and corn hole experience which came along with two wines and a charcuterie board. The wine was very good and the charcuterie board was also very tasty. It was such a fun afternoon playing the games and being able to chat with each other. We were really happy when we were able to find their wine at our local grocery store and we get it all the time now! I recommend this as a stop when in wine country! read more
This is my wife's favorite winery and wine so of course we have to come do a tasting while passing through! Right now, tastings are by reservation only. We happened to make a reservation on member appreciation day (which we are) so it was a special tasting list. They also had a complimentary cheese board with our tasting and we got to keep the board afterwards! Everyone is so friendly and make you feel right at home. The property is beautiful, although this time we just enjoyed our tasting and headed out due to time constraints. If you are ever in Sonoma be sure to stop here, you won't be disappointed. read more
First impression: breathtaking, charming garden area with plenty of shade. Unlike other wineries, Chateau St. Jean offers a picnic experience at $45 per person with wine being extra (pricy, but I had a discount). The picnic basket includes a garden salad, egg salad, chips, apples, chocolate chip cookies, and fresh ingredients to put together your very own grilled chicken sandwich wedged between two slices of foccacia bread. I'll admit, I was a bit wary of the portion sizes at first, but both of us left feeling stuffed. Plus, you get to keep the picnic basket and wine corkscrew! Really wanted to do the wine tasting, but they're only doing the reserve tasting at the moment, and at $40 per person, that's a bit too steep for my liking. Knocked a star off since I did run into some issues when booking the picnic experience. When I was asking about wines from the first person I spoke with, she couldn't really recommend a bottle of wine to go with our picnic and just read descriptions off the website. I also had to call again because she had forgotten to apply the discount the first time around. Overall, though, we had a memorable time at Chateau St. Jean. Perfect place to enjoy a picnic with others. I recommend trying it out at least once! read more

It's a really lovely estate with a beautiful rose garden, a selection of some of the different grape vines, and a plethora of outdoor seating options! The wine tasting was ~$40 a person (with fees) and you get to try six wines. You can add a charcuterie board for another $40 but it's only like two cheeses and two meats with a half baguette. Tasty, but we expected a little more food for the price tag. The service was good but I wish our server spent a little more time explaining the background behind each wine and the story of the establishment. However, they did spend some extra time with us after the tasting taking pictures for the group which I greatly appreciated! My group and I enjoyed touring the vineyard afterward and taking in the views! read more

Pretty bougie place to wine taste, but it's fun to play the part for a day. Get somewhat dressed/spiffed up, roam their manicured gardens with your favorite shades on, take a whiff of that clean wine country air and belly up to wine tasting outdoors on one of their many patios they sport. (You may need to be a 'member' though to enter certain areas.) So this place, not sure if it is a pandemic mode of operation or not, but you need to place a reservation on line to taste. Pandemic or not, many places are steering in this direction anyways, as to give you a fuller experience by matching you up with your own wine associate. Sure it is more educational and fun, but it also strengthens their chances on making a sale. I'm not hating, just an observation. I had no issues reserving a time during the weekday. I was even able to make it within the same hour that I placed it, since my campsite was just 10 minutes up the hill. Not sure if that's doable on the weekends. But the thing with their tastings is not only is it not cheap, $40 to start and can climb as you add on food for pairings. But this tasting fee is NOT waived if you purchase their wine. Many places will waive the fee with some sort of purchase, not here, you have to eat this fee...well drink it. *wink wink nudge nudge* But in my tasting, and in their defense, you do get a good amount to taste. They start you with 4 tastings and they are not little 1-2 oz sippers. They are at least a 4 oz pour, which is almost a full glass at a restaurant. And if they gauge that you're liking the experience or seemed interested in other wines, they will not hesitate in pouring you more. I think I sampled 6 total in over an hours worth of tasting and wine babble. And the last 2 were higher end reds because that is what I was really interested in. And they more than delivered. There were several associates that were pouring but one main one who answered questions and did most of the work. I was impressed with most of their wines and there was a level of their wine club that fit my needs, so I joined. 3 times a year, they'll send me 3-4 bottles. Also since I was already there, I was able to take this season's bottles with me as to spare the delivery charges. And if I ever come back for a tasting and bring guest, we'll have a carte blanche on the tasting experience, no fees and in a more private patio. Don't have to twist my arm on this deal. I left that tasting with a new swagger in my walk. It's great fun to be bougie for a day. read more
One of our favorites stops in the area! Their welcome process was the perfect start to our experience. Right as you walk up to the entrance, you are given a tasting of bubbles, which made us feel perfectly boujee. The grounds is gorgeous and very picture-worthy. The tasting area is beautiful with nice outdoor seating and great service. We loved all of the wines and left with quite a few bottles that we are so excited to enjoy when we get back home! You have the option to pay ahead here when you book your tasting, which we liked! read more

It was a beautiful spring day in Sonoma, Ca. and we decided to visit Chateau St John Vineyards and winery. The place is elegant and refreshing at the same time. The hosts are friendly and accommodating. We elected to have wine tasting and was seated in the outside patio with the gorgeous view of the rose garden. The wine selections are absolutely smooth and satisfying. Our host was fun and very knowledgeable. He made our experience quite wonderful. A must try if you're in the area definitely! read more

Chateau St Jean is a beautiful property, way better than I was expecting, looks like there is so many places to explore and taste, they have lots of tasting areas and the members area looks especially nice. Beautiful architecture and gardens on this property. The wine tasting with quin was very nice, he was informative, friendly and a great host. We very much enjoyed the wines, especially the estate viognier and a few or the reds. They have nice large bocce ball courts and the surrounding are idyllic. I think this is probably one of the nicest places to come, get a bottle of wine and to enjoy the grounds in yeh Kenwood area. read more
