I had no plan to rent a boat but the fleet looked well cared for (almost new) and I jumped. The crew was really nice and helpful. I took out a "Tritoon"with a 200hp Yamaha. The lake is huge and there is some amazing sightseeing. I found a cove, anchored, finished up some work and then went for a swim. My 2 hour rental flew by and when I arrived back at the dock, the crew was waiting to help dock and replace my used fuel. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. For a spur of the moment adventure it was amazing. I highly recommend Bridgewater Marine.

The owner greeted us in his Grateful Dead shirt like a boss. I felt at home already. There was a nice little food area and ice cream spot. Some very green grass with some corn hole boards and other good vibes stuff. We decided to get some pizza and wings from the restaurant. Morgan was our server for a party of 11 and she did an excellent job. Our pizza and wings were very good. They had sweet tea, I wasn't sure if this counted as "the south" still or not but it was perfect. Our bill was only $125 for several large pies, 24 wings, and mostly sodas. Will be back next time we are on the lake!

When I arrived first thing in the morning I happened to talk to Service Manager Jacob. His initial reply when I expained the situation was that they are booked three weeks out for service. When I asked where else I should look he decided to come out & take a quick look to troubleshoot if he could do it quickly. Less than 20 minutes later he found the crossthreaded/broken-off plug and had a replacement hose installed. I was on my way in less than a half hour for the price of a replacement hose. Jacob could have easily told me they couldn't help but he went above and beyond to help a customer. I hope the owners of Webster Marine Center recognize Jacob's work ethic and "customer first" attitude and realize what a great employee they have in Jacob.

During the busiest days of the year, the parking may be a bit tight, but there is always a place to park a short walk from your car. Their service department has always treated me very well. All work is high-quality and they stand behind their work. They repaired the trim gauge and it stopped working after a few weeks. They repaired the gauge right away. They care about the customer's boats stored here. After a particularly harsh winter storm, I went to check on the boat and found they had lifted the boats up to their highest position under the dock's roof to provide the best protection to the craft. I understand that sometimes one can have a bad experience with any service provider. In my case, Webster Marine has been a pleasure to deal with, do good work at an acceptable price, and care about their customers.

Locals know the drill, order a bucket of beer and get settled in. Don't expect it to be very kid friendly, no kids menu and all the tables outside are high tops (although they do have high chairs). We arrived slightly before 6pm, before the dinner rush- but still waited 45 minutes to get our food. Our bill was slightly discounted because of the delay, (did I mention we had to get our own lemonade refill) but I'd rather have faster food service than comped food. We rented a pontoon boat and it had some engine problems (it kept stalling). We called Steve and he met us at our dock and traded out the old boat for a bigger and better one. In addition, they gave us a very generous discount for the hassle. My husband is a farmer and we understand that you can't always control mechanical problems so we don't blame them, but we greatly appreciate how they took care of us. What really soured the whole experience, though, was when he was verbally abusive to my wife when we dropped off the jet skis, and he tried to overcharge us for equipment we didn't rent. My boyfriend went inside, less than 10 minutes he was back out telling me to get my things out of the truck. Needless to say, check in was efficient and painless. Should mention, we didn't get charged until we got there, but have your card ready when you call, because you do need to give the information. $300 for 9am-6pm is not bad at all by the way! We got there around 10:15, pulled back in around 5:15pm. 3 guys came out and assisted us with putting the boat back where it needed to be. They gave the boat the once over, made sure we didn't break anything, and refueled. Cost us $27.50 or so in gas. We didn't do a lot of tubing or towing of people or items. Mostly found a spot to drop anchor and float, so I imagine if you're pulling someone in a flotation device or water skis it might cost ya more. I was pleased. The guys also mentioned to us that we were on a new boat that they got last year. It was super clean when we got in it and had a TON of storage under the seats to keep important things dry. It also had a decently sized canopy that covered the entire back half. Definitely a plus when you're going to be in sun all day. We took 6 people and had more than enough space. Paying for the gas was also, easy peezy. All in all, had a wonderful time, boat was everything we needed. Service was fine and no deposit is even nicer. Be nice and kind to the boat, and it'll be nice to you. Definitely already planning my next trip to the lake and of course, another boat. Thanks!

This is a fun location with several businesses: Virginia Dare Cruises: If you are going to take a tour, you might as well include food ($40 with, $25 without). The trip covers interesting areas around the lake. If I did this again, I would chose Mother's Day or Pirate's Day for fun. The park staffers also join one of the tours to share information about nature and wildlife (you can also get that information at the state park, but it is fun on the boat). Virginia Dare Marina: If you need gas, expect to pump it yourself. There aren't any employees to help tie your boat, so make sure you have someone with you. The area is small and a little tricky to maneuver if it is crowded. Marina store: If you want Great Lake souvenirs, I would go to the shops at Bridgewater Plaza (they have staff at the gas pumps too). The Marina store has limited items. Portside Grill and Bar: You can have breakfast or lunch in your bathing suit. The food is almost like camping with a grill, but it is decent casual grub. Breakfast is around $8 and lunch is approximately $12. Sides are cheap. If you want more space, visit Mangos.

We've had 2 of our older boats worked on here and the mechanic has been honest with fair prices. The mechanic also keeps to his promised time-frames, so you can rest assured your repair will be ready on time. The marina also has wet and dry slips for those homes without a dock. The little shop has all of our basics---BEER, snacks, and trinkets. The food shack seems sketchy, but the food is really good. The ladies that work there are super friendly. We pulled up to the dock to get some lunch and fill up the boat with gas. We told the woman ringing up the gas that we were getting lunch too and she trusted us to pay when we were done with everything. They have a covered picnic area. It's a little dinky looking, but it seems like it would be fun. They have pig roasts and bands there on weekend nights. it is definitely a down to earth establishment and right up our alley. Glad to have Bay Roc Marina on Smith Mountain Lake.
