FORCED 20% TIP As a person who's loved *safe* massages to help heal from muscle knots and sports injury, I've decided to try out different spots around Crystal City. None have met me with disappointment. I recently got injured and decided to try this place out because of the good reviews. As much as I wanted to give this place a five star, this ultimately became zero stars. I was inappropriately touched here and I should've never have been. I was in denial at first that it was happening, but in the state of Virginia, draping is imperative, and touching the female milk ducts are ILLEGAL. First of all, the drape was smaller than a twin sheet (literally the size of a beach towel) and was never secure or tucked properly. As someone who's received massages for 10+ years, this rang sirens in my head. That already made me feel uncomfortable. At one point my whole bum was exposed... I'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen. I know for a fact massage therapists are never allowed to touch the female milk ducts. With that being said, when he asked for my consent when he pointed at my collarbone, I thought it would just be under the collarbone. No...this guy abused his power and was caressing my female chest and swirling his thumbs on my female milk ducts (I'm so sorry I have to keep the language PG) at one point. What doesn't help is that this guy barely spoke English and couldn't understand me asking where the bathroom was.... All benefits of a massage? GONE. My body froze up. It's impossible to speak up when something this disgusting happens. I hold a lot of guilt thinking I should've ended the session, but I was in a vulnerable state. If you pay in card, they add an extra 6% to the price online and they require you to tip 20% CASH ONLY. I feel like I shouldn't have tipped and I almost didn't, but as a person who believes in karma, I always tip since I believe what you do to others comes back around.... May this be the FINAL time that person ever receives a tip and may this be the FINAL time SA ever happens at a massage spa. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE. You can get a really good massage for two hours for less than $150. TWO HOURS. You'll walk out feeling deliciously pummelled and wobbly. In the best way. So this isn't the fanciest massage place: you won't be offered a lovely citrus and herb water, or some calming herbal tea. The waiting area isn't cushy and spa-like. The rooms are just little boxes with a curtain. BUT. Man, the massage is so freaking great. I've gone twice already to relieve the screwed up neck and shoulders I've developed thanks to working from home. (I miss you, ergonomic set up and aeron chair) The first time, i went home and took some motrin and a gallon a water and slept like a log. I was sore for days. Then suddenly, my shoulders were back down to the normal position, my neck wasn't killing me, and I was sitting up better. She can really dig deep into the knots and break it up. I legit could almost feel the muscle fibers break apart and release. I had been experiencing some neck and shoulder pain for the past week or two and I could no longer take it - hence my decision to book a massage. Let me just say.. this was hands down one of the best massages that I have ever gotten. I walked out of there feeling 100% better than when I woke up this morning. I still feel a little pain in my neck (which is okay because I don't expect this type of thing to go away immediately). However, the stiffness and limited range of motion has DRASTICALLY improved after receiving my 30 minute deep tissue massage. I had a massage today with Sky at Crystal Water Massage and I have got to say it was the best massage I ever had. Sky was wonderful and he loosened all the tight muscles especially in my upper back. First, he did a deep tissue massage, then a rub-down with oils and then with hot stones. It was a delightful 60 minutes. Went in for a couple's massage after reading reviews about the great service and the Covid precautions. Called to schedule an appointment just a few days in advance and had no issues getting in at my desired time on a Saturday morning. We were greeted immediately upon walking in; everything looked immaculately clean, there was hand sanitizer on the counter, and both employees were wearing masks. The massage room had signs posted requesting that masks stay on throughout the massage. The massages themselves were great, and I'm not just saying that because it was the first one I'd had in over a year. The therapists had great pressure, knew how to work through knots, and were willing to listen to requested adjustments. The only issue either of us had during the massages were our own doing - I'd suggest making sure that, when you lie facedown, you tent your mask around your nose (while still keeping it sealed around the edges) so that it isn't taut against your face. It seems fine to breathe at first, but with it pulled tight, especially as the therapists worked on our necks and upper backs, it became uncomfortable. With that in mind, I can't wait to go back...the massage was wonderful, and I felt extremely comfortable with their Covid precautions. read more

I was extremely tight due to all day walking in DC with a backpack. I got a 60 minute massage by Mary. I highly recommend requesting her if you visit. The room was small but dark and relaxing music playing. Mary hit all of the focus areas I requested and applied the amount of pressure requested. 60 minutes cost $68 and obviously Mary received a nice tip. I kept waiting for her to stop after 30 minutes, then 45 minutes, because many spas do that. I believe I received 60 minutes of actual hands on massage. I went there for a deep tissue massage to release a knot in my shoulder blade. my masseuse provided the most superficial massage on my back. I had to repeatedly ask her to focus on my shoulder blade and push harder, which she just was unable to do. I visited on Valentine's Day and my partner and I had a couple's massage. It was very clean and they checked our temperatures once we got there and the staff wore masks the whole time, as well as us. We also filled out a form to designate any areas we wanted the massuse to focus on or avoid and the pressure we wanted. They seem to remember what areas to avoid the pressure varied bit they did ask was everything ok at times. The room appeared clean except a pillow when I flipped on my back. I noticed after the massage. It had a mesh covering. The covering had someone's hair on it. Also the tip part was a little weird. We gave our tips to one person. I booked 2 appointments for a couples massage for my bf, his parents, and me. I was excited for our appointment after reading all of the 5 star reviews. The atmosphere and workers were nice however the massage technique my bf's mother and I received was not so good. We both circled medium pressure however the pressures during the massage were very random. The movements were also random as in my kneecaps and the bony part of my shoulders were being massaged. Our masseuse would deeply pinch spots over and over again and then barely apply pressure once she put the oil on us. It felt like oil being rubbed on for 20 min without any kind of massage. I am familiar with hot stone massages however their stones and hot towel were very hot so be weary of that. The masseuse my bf's mother and I had went too fast with differing pressures throughout the massage. Even without the promotion, the price of a 1 hour massage is quite reasonable. While they offer a variety of massage types, we both opted for the deep tissue massage. My massage therapist concentrated on the areas I requested, shoulder and neck. And was accommodated my requests during the massage including more or less pressure in certain areas of my back.
