We went to this location years ago (2018-2019) and liked it so much we kept going back even though it was a bit far from us. Unfortunately, the pandemic came along and we skipped massages for quite a long time. We recently moved nearby and decided to give it a try again and they did not disappoint! We booked a couples massage for 90 minutes with Frank and Mary. Neither of us can remember having massages that good. They spent the time focused on the areas we requested, with the pressure we requested, and we both left feeling so much better! Appointment was easy to book on the website. They sent reminders for the appointment and confirmed booking preferences before the appointment (gender of masseuse, single or shared room). As a side note- there are now signs in every room not to touch the masseuse and to basically be appropriate in their business. Not sure what people are thinking these last few years (though I can obviously guess by the signs), but no one goes to work to be assaulted so keep your hands TO yourself but OFF yourself. These folks are amazing! Give them some respect so they can do their work! read more

I have gone to this place since they were in the Clarendon area. It has always been no frills, and the staff has always had difficulty communicating in English but you could always communicate what you needed to after a second try, and the quality massages were consistently great. This place may be under new management because my last 3 visits have been just awful. The team is cold. That's not a deal breaker but they also don't speak English well enough to get by with a combo of miming and pointing. My last massage was the last straw. I went in for a simple issue, explained it to the front desk, and when we got to the room I reiterated the issue. The masseuse did not understand after 3 tries, got the front desk person to come back to interpret, and then we got started. I went in for one issue that was to be the majority of our time. 5 times I had to ask to go back to that area for more time. Even then she would nod then move on or ignore. So I grabbed my phone and used a translator app. She understood but even then didn't place the focus where I asked. I was in as much pain leaving as when I arrived, only more frustrated. They need to hire better trained staff and to require some minimum proficiency, or put other measures in place- like having the front desk ppl come back to talk through instructions during the first 2-3 minutes. My back was having some spasms from being on my feet all day the day before and so I needed to get a massage and found this place on Yelp. Check in was super easy and I felt the place was definitely clean and pleasant inside. They certainly got all the kinks out of my back and definitely worked on my lower body as well. I love a place that has no frills and the masseuse I had seemed to know the spots to target so that you walk away feeling that your body went through its own workout. I felt the price was reasonable for the massage that I received compared to other shops in the area. My only issue was that I had to park in the neighborhood along the street which wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to have a parking space up front. I've been here about 6 times now, and it's super easy to schedule an appointment -- they often can take you same day, as majority of the times I've gone it's been a last minute spontaneous decision. Your then lead to a dark hallway of sub-divided rooms/large cubicles. You can kinda hear the chatter in other rooms, especially when it's a new client and they have to explain how things are done. I had a 60 minute deep tissue and 30 minute reflexology combination. It was amazing! My masseuse applied the pressure I wanted and it was exactly what I needed. Had a wonderful massage at Bye Bye yesterday and it was much needed! Don't be fooled by the lack of decor because the massages are well worth it. The ambiance is a little elementary and plain BUT the technicians make up for it. They work out your problem areas for the FULL time of the session and use various different techniques. They don't skimp on massage time at all, not to mention they are very reasonably priced, about $60 for 60 minutes. If you need a quick in & out massage session, Bye Bye Stress is the place to go. I used to go here when they were based in Clarendon a few years ago! I was pleased to see the business was still around when we came back to the DMV area, and that they continue to offer an affordable massage with some nice touches (hot stone, bottled water at checkout) in a clean but no-fuss setting (note: spaces are separated but not soundproof). Masks are to be worn at all times including during service. Bruce doesn't seem to be around anymore, sadly. However, Amy and Kiki did our couples massage and they are both very strong and delivered consistent deep pressure. Bring cash for a slightly lower session fee and for tip. The (new to me) location has a slightly tricky parking lot -- it's horizontally wide but skinny, and immediately off the road. Watch oncoming traffic if you have to back up. read more

I been here about five times and I've only had good experiences. I'm talking about falling asleep, moaning (pause), mind-and-body-is-melting type of massages. When they are done, I feel like I'm walking on a cloud. When you come in they give you a paper to fill out that you use to tell them where you want massaged on your body and the intensity. They use hot stones for all the massages and they wipe the oils off afterwards with a hot damp towel. Its quite lovely. The prices are competitive. It's like we are living back when the Clinton administration was running things. $100 (cash) for 90 mins? Say less. But here is the thing. The joint isn't a looker. It's not where you go for ambiance and spa vibes. It's a bare bones type of joint. A bunch of rooms lined up with curtains as doors. The person in the next room coughs, you will definitely hear it. They were incredibly available and were able to get me in on the same day I called. While they were polite, I felt like there were some communication barriers/they just didn't communicate much, so as a massage newbie I was left guessing what was happening. I was massaged with a sheet fully covering me for about twenty minutes. I tried telling her she could remove the sheet. I'm not sure if it was part of the process but I got uncomfortably hot. I usually run cold so it was a weird feeling for me to fight the urge to throw the sheet off because I felt so stuffed up. I'd indicated I wanted medium pressure. She checked in at first, but then went deeper and deeper to the point that I was in a lot of pain. I figured that I would just try to roll with it, because she probably knew what she was doing. After getting up the morning, I feel like I got hit by a bus. I've been incredibly tired and my back is screaming in pain. Maybe this is normal and I'll be singing her praises in a couple more days. I would just recommend speaking up if they seem to linger too long in one area or go too deep. She did an awesome job on my lower half which feels great today! read more

Thanks to everyone else who reviewed and led me here! Agree with other reviews. The facility itself is not a super fancy/spa-like atmosphere, but it gets the job done. And better than some nicer places. My masseur, Amy, was absolutely wonderful. It felt amazing. The rooms do not have doors, just curtains, so you need to whisper the whole time and you can sometimes hear when the person next to you is getting those quick, light touches at the end of a massage that I have no idea what are called but you know the ones I mean, the only kind of a massage touch that makes any noise. Note that they prefer all cash, for both the massage and tip. Prices are different for cash and card, which I was a little put off by at first, i've never see that anywhere but a gas station, but of course the truth is the difference in amounts makes up for the fee taken when a customer uses the card option, which I am sure makes a big difference for a small business over time. And it is great to support a small business by paying in cash! Cash or no though, I will definitely be back because Amy made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! My muscles have been really achey lately, small movements were hurting me. She did a wonderful job and I am so glad to have found this place. read more

I should have known when I called on a Friday afternoon and they had immediate availability. I also asked about deep tissue and whether I needed to have cash for a tip. So when I come in, a woman is sitting on a couch asks me "you the one who called about deep tissue?" "Wow, you big!" I was taken aback by this statement (as I am tall for a woman, but not obese, although if I were it would be unacceptable!) I told myself there was a language/cultural barrier and hoped for the best. The setup for this massage place is bare bones. I dislike the fact that the space for the massage does not have walls and a door and only partitions and a curtain. There is a sign directing you to be quiet, which seems antithetical to needed feedback on the massage. Just my luck, I my massage was accompanied by a client's snoring during the last 20 min. I've had dozens of massages in my life, mostly trigger point or deep tissue. This was the least-skilled, roughest massage I have ever had! (This includes a massage by a worker in a similar salon on Langston Blvd that was busted as a front for a sex work.) Also, off-putting was the constant sniffling by the massage provider. It's cold/flu/pandemic season and sniffling is not conducive to a relaxing massage! Finally, the price was $68 on the web site, and I'd called to ask about a cash tip with no word about the price for using a credit card was $73 which should have been disclosed. I almost didn't want to write a review because I wanted Bye Bye Stress to be my little secret, but I can't be that selfish when Bye Bye Stress deserves the praise :) This place is reasonably priced, very accommodating and the people are just plain nice. I was in terrible pain due to a knot in my shoulder that was causing radiating pain down my arm. I called Bye Bye Stress Massage at 3:30 and was able to get a same day appointment within the hour. It was 90 minutes of awesome! Not only were they able to release the knot causing the pain, but also identified other knots that were probably contributing to the pain. As others have said, Bye Bye Stress is no frills, but is clean and quiet - promoting a relaxing atmosphere. Found this little gem through Yelp, and what a relief. There really aren't any great massage places in the NoVa area for a fair price, but this place is the best. I have been here multiple times now because every experience is a positive one. I feel more relaxed and refreshed after every massage. I always get the deep tissue massage for an hour, and all the masseuses I have had are great. The only issue is that if you ask for hard pressure, your experiences can be slightly different. I will probably go for medium next time as the last time I asked for hard pressure, it was a little painful, but my back was taken care of. read more
