If you go out with a girl from LA and she wants to go to a crystal shop, might as well go to a great one that actually has some integrity. I'm not really into crystal mysticism but I can really appreciate the geological information and craftsmanship behind each and every item in this shop. Walking inside is genuinely like walking into a museum of minerals, gems, stones and crystals unlike you've ever seen. For example, their entire door handle is Amethyst. The cracks in their floor have real amethyst embedded inside. They have real mined Geode chairs that you couldn't believe exist in real life. They have some of largest rare stones I've seen in person. If you're not one to casually drop $1000s of dollars at once, there is a back area where you can see the jeweler work on pieces and stones, and a small cabinet that has miniature conventionally sized stones that are more affordable than the ones on display (ie. Typically $4-12 a stone) People who complain about the prices: A. Didn't recognize the area when walking in. B. Don't know how expensive it is to mine, transport, detail and certify rare stones. C. Didn't go to the white bins in the back for the conventionally smaller stones. Despite the standard snootiness of the area, the two folks at the counter were not only sweethearts, but extremely knowledgeable about what they're working with. I learned so much from each of them not even from just asking questions, but from them bringing out pieces and explaining each one for the fun of it while my friend was looking around. I love seeing people who are passionate about their interests get to indulge in it, so if you have any gem/stone questions, this is the place.

Huge props to the Bodhi Tree for pointing me in the direction of this fabulous gem shop when I called today burbling about selenite. I'd been on the hunt for the perfect gift for someone who's not so easy to shop for, and when I'd finally settled on the idea of finding these crystal candleholders that are thought to be carriers of light and clarity associated with the crown chakra, I figured I'd have to search the city high and low to track them down, but lo and behold, they were right up the street! If you ever had a rock collection as a kid, stepping foot in here will take you back. The place is a floor to ceiling collection of some amazing specimens, many of which were bigger than I am and priced upwards of $20k. Lucky for me, they had just the selenite (gypsum) candleholders I was looking for, in not one, but two sizes and two colors -- the clear, opalescent ones you usually find, and others in varying shades of rose and orange depending on minerality -- all surprisingly reasonably priced. I ecstaticly snatched up my finds and they even offered to gift wrap everything up, complete with box, bow and a pretty purple bag. Birthday crisis averted!

I bought a large sodalite sphere, a beautiful labradorite sphere, a lovely celestite egg, and two beautiful good sized clear quarts points for $100! Just for comparison sake, a labradorite smooth tumbled palm size stone at House of Intuition on Melrose was $46, and I got an incredible large heavy sphere for $50 with this guy. I am still so thrilled with my finds! The shop owner was very knowledgeable and nice to us! We had fun playing in his collection. My friends picked up some very special pieces from him too. I definitely recommend this shop. He says he will be there every Sunday this year, so I'll be back for sure! Entrance to the Fairfax High market is $3. We found metered parking on the street. Lots of fun, highly recommended! xo

I had such a great experience at Maria Tash, and I have to specifically shout out Reagan!…read more She was honestly amazing from start to finish. She was so patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful without ever being pushy. I came in a little unsure of what I wanted, and she took the time to walk me through different options, styling ideas, and what would actually suit me best. You can tell she really knows her stuff, but also has a great eye. Everything she suggested felt very thoughtful and elevated, not just trying to sell something. She made the whole experience feel really comfortable and fun, which I feel like makes such a difference, especially when you're deciding on jewelry or piercings. If you go, definitely ask for Reagan because she's the absolute best

I called before making an appointment since I'm coming from across LA. They told me they had the jewelry I wanted and would put it on hold for me. I wanted to do the TASH Hidden rook since a lot of LA piercers don't do them. They made me an appointment for that Sunday at 12pm. They also gave me a warning there's a farmers market so parking might be tough. It's all street parking btw. Walked in at about 11:50am and greeted by Oscar, who was super friendly. He was showing me a bunch of pieces since the one I put on hold did not work with my anatomy. After looking through several styles, I chose a yellow gold marquise threaded charm. It was about a 20 minute wait. We decided to get food at the farmers market. Around 12:30pm, I got taken upstairs to the waiting area and Harrison asked if I was ready. Nervous but ready, he went over the piercing I wanted. He said he thinks he could fit it inside my rook and we went ahead and did it. He was so calm, cool and collected the whole time. I really appreciate his patience with my ear anatomy and achieving the piercing I wanted. We spend around $380 for the pricing service and jewelry. I want to come back to upgrade the piece once it's healed. Thanks Oscar and Harrison :)

Every order arrives beautifully packaged with thoughtful cards explaining each crystal's properties. You can tell how much care and intention goes into everything Madison and the team do. Madison herself is incredible. She's knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about sharing not just the crystals, but also how to work with them. The in-store experience is just as special. The energy when you walk in is indescribable. You can feel the energy created by the crystal grid set up in the shop and the daily cleansing they do. And every corner feels elevated and grounded at the same time. The selection is so well curated and I feel like I always find something unique calling to me! Some of my favorite treasures from Open Eye include my spessartine garnet collection, faceted crystal bracelets, tourmaline necklace, giant quartz crystal point, rainbow obsidian Virgin Mary, and my life-changing moldavite. Madison's jeweler recommendations have helped me create beautiful custom pieces that I'll cherish forever. And where else can you find meteorites and fossilized dinosaur pieces in one place? Open Eye Crystals! I also love their workshops. They are such a beautiful way to connect and learn. My most recent favorite was the pendulum workshop, and I left feeling both grounded and inspired with new ways of working with my pendulum and a new custom piece on the way! Open Eye Crystals isn't just a shop. It's a community, a sanctuary, and one of my favorite places in Los Angeles. If you're drawn to crystals, energy work, or intentional living, you have to experience this place.
