This place USED to have great deals, now, not so much. We went for the deals and therefore were willing to put up with long waits, people shouting and people being served in haphazard ways that might mean someone walks in and gets helped before you. Are there still good buys to be had? Sure. But given that they aren't all that great, it definitely isn't enough to put up with the worst service in the jewelry industry, with waiting forever for a bored associate who makes you feel like they're doing you a favor when "helping" you. I stepped into XIV on May 20 2025. That's 35 years since my last visit. My first time was when my dad sent me to find a "Tennis Bracelet" for myself. His 2nd wife was give her daughter 4 if them and my dad asked why I couldn't have one. Simple, I wasn't her kid. He gave me a wad of cash and sent me on my way. When I got there it was like going to Disneyland but it glittered all over. The staff took me in their care and made a big fuss over me. I felt like Audrey Hepburn at Tiffany's. I looked at so many bracelets and they all looked the same to me. A diamond bracelet. But I spotted one because it had such a beautiful design and didn't look like any of the others. That was it! And I've never taken it off. Fast forward to last Tuesday, the 20th. I was recovering from a nasty fall from 2 weeks ago and was turning 75 (my mother's age) on the 4th so I needed to cheer myself up. Stepping into XIV was like stepping into a timeless zone. A nice lady named Flo rescued me and I told her my tale of woe. After looking through hundreds of bracelets and almost settling on one that wasn't different enough I spotted it. Flo looked at it and told me what a great eye I had. We went in there on the second busiest shopping day of the year. We initially couldnt find anything for my daughter to celebrate her 18th/getting into college. Sally helped my fiancé and me design and select a beautiful engagement ring that I love! She and her colleagues were warm, helpful, and gave us a great price. We really wanted a lab diamond, not a natural diamond. Unlike other jewelers (Capri) who have turned up their noses at selling us a lab diamond (presumably bc the margins aren't very good on labs), Sally and her team were just as helpful as they would have been if we were buying a natural diamond. Excellent quality and selection to choose from, fairly priced and impeccable and highly professional service. Especially if you are fortunate to have Daisy assisting you! Daisy is the absolute "bomb"! I've purchased from her the last three times. And each time, she has nailed exactly what I wanted on the first try. She has a great eye for what looks good and goes out of her way to do everything possible to make you feel you and your business are important to her, and the store. My husband purchased my engagement setting and separate center diamond here and they created the complete ring for him here as well. We had it appraised separately by a third party then too. A few years later, some of the pave diamonds fell out - as many other reviewers here have stated, the quality of the workmanship here is not good. I sent it back to XIV Karats to be fixed since they made it and hoped for the best. When XIV Karats sent the ring back to me I noticed the center diamond looked different. When I took it into a local jeweler to estimate it, they said the pave work was poor (no surprise there) and the center diamond was not good with several inclusions - which is the difference I had noticed as well - you can actually see them with the naked eye. The estimate now was now significantly less. There were so many shifty and strange happenings we noticed when at XIV Karats, but now I suspect when fixing the pave, I'm wondering if they switched the center diamond with a lesser quality one thinking I wouldn't notice. It seems unthinkable, but it wouldn't surprise me. While it is too late for us, I share this in the hopes of alerting others and sparing anyone else this unfortunate situation. There are many good jewelers with good workmanship, ethics and customer service - take the time to find them and listen to your intuition. I wish I had. read more

Out of my several visits to XIV Karats, I had the BEST shopping experience with Boston P. so far! This place has a LARGE selection of jewelry that it can be overwhelming so it really helps to have someone as patient and friendly like Boston P. to make your experience a pleasurable one. I brought in a couple pairs of earrings that I had purchased with them before and they were able to tighten the clasp and clean them as I shop. Boston was extremely patient and was happy to bring out me all the jewelry that I wanted to try on and browse. He was very accommodating and made the experience even more fun! I ordered a tennis bracelet online and it broke after less than 3 days of wear. After calling, I quickly got a new one sent to me and was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I got my new bracelet. After receiving my new bracelet I wore it for 5 days and it broke the exact same way... I called the store and after speaking to an associate I was transferred to the owner. She got immediately upset at me saying she checked the bracelet herself and apparently this isn't the bracelet for me cause I must have done something to it. I told her when it broke I had my arm wrapped around my leg and it just broke off. And she told me to return it and quickly hung up on me. I was appalled. Keep in mind, I never came off upset over the phone and simply told them I had a problem that needed fixing. I called back hoping to reach a different sales associate and to finish my return and I was helped accordingly. I have two other tennis bracelets (from other places) and have worn them for years and never had issues of breaking. I am truly disappointed with how I was treated over the phone by the owner. I loved the piece and thought it was so beautiful. But after being so rudely treated by the owner I decided to return and do not plan to purchase from them in the future. If you have upwards of $30,000 to spend on an engagement ring this is the place for you! They have incredible pieces of all sorts of jewelry, but as far as engagement rings go you will be paying a lot of money. I went in today to look at engagement rings for myself and I found they were pretty outrageously priced. That being said I am comparing it to downtown prices. I'm very well-versed in diamonds in general so I know what I'm looking at, and oftentimes I have more knowledge than sales people I encounter. I also have to mention that the salesperson today was pretty rude from the get- go, telling me that the ring style I asked for was not a good style. So it was kind of downhill from there. The last time I went there, pre pandemic, I went with a friend who has bought several pieces from this store, and nobody paid attention to us for about 30 minutes so we left.
