I've bought everything from earrings and rings to blankets and slippers and everything and anything in between. Also everything is ethically sourced. The staff here are great as well. i have been going to this store since i was little and it's probably my favorite shop on melrose. first of all, they have so many incredible things, it's a little overwhelming at first. they have really unique pieces: chains, pendants, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, piercing jewelry... you name it, they have it. they have tons of other cool items from around the world as well. i could easily spend hours in there look at everything. it's a really fun experience even if you're just window shopping. the prices are very fair, especially considering that almost all of the jewelry is sterling silver with real gemstones. the 2 employees who have been there for a very long time (probably the owners) are always so kind, attentive, & helpful too. read more

This store is an absolute gem, and I'm not just saying that because they sell gems. I was astonished by the stock and selections of jewelry, all organized in cabinets so finding what you need is easy. Everything is priced very reasonably. I brought in a pendant that needed a super small chain, and the lady working there went above and beyond to find a chain that worked. This is based off my experience coming here twice. Right off the bat this is a store I would not visit on my own. But my boyfriend took me here to pick out a present for my birthday. I'm thinking, ugh I'm getting a mood ring. I began looking around at all the pieces and started to see some cool, cute things. I picked out a piece. The lady came over to help and she was very informative. She had to go help someone else because I was taking my sweet time trying to decide between stones. But once I decided on the stone she was busy so another girl came over. This girl was not very helpful. Seemed like she was just there to pass time. As if she was waiting for her ride but stopped in the store to wait for it. The second time I visited this shop, the same not so helpful girl was there. She did not greet but I wasn't there for myself so I didn't care that much. But when I approached the counter she was at, she had her head down working on something. She didn't bother looking up at me. I stood there waiting for her to notice. She still hasn't. I'm thinking, "am I spirit? Did I pass on?" I'm standing right in front of you. It wasn't until another employee (man) noticed and said something. The items are neat but customer service is lacking. Plus I think it's a $10 minimum to use card. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST. Everyone who works there is super patient and helpful. Their jewelry is affordable and I was able to find gifts for my 8 year old sister, my boyfriend, my mom and myself. Under $50 total! I was in such a rush to catch them after work before they closed, and Nita went above and beyond by sending me photos of the lockets they had to ensure I wasn't wasting my time. They also have no problem straightening out my gold rings that I bend from working with my hands, free of charge. I have been going to Maya for over 20 years and the owner is still there looking the same. This is my go to place for nose rings, the long stemmed, no bone, tiny silver ball (which isn't in, but its classic and hard to find). They have so much stuff from all over its hard to really find a gem. I LOVE their ear rings. I do have to do research when i plan on buying something there with certain designs...... many item are spiritually influenced and I"m not trying to bring unwanted spirits in my house or on my body. Stores on Melrose Ave can be extremely overpriced, but I found that Maya had an endless variety of jewelry with varying prices. The store is full of unique necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings from all sorts of materials, and there were people of all ages when I popped in for a visit. I got some rings from them about 6 months ago, and the staff wasn't notoriously helpful, but they showed me the size rings that I wanted when I asked. The quality seems to be good, since my sterling silver rings haven't tarnished and they are wearing nicely. The prices were very reasonable to the point of being a steal, and I haven't found a jewelry shop with pieces as strange (in a good way) as here anywhere. I could literally spend hours in here and not be able to look at all of the jewelry. I highly recommend this store if you are visiting Melrose Ave and want some nice pieces. read more
