Our son went to Copperfield Preschool since he was 3 years old; today he graduated and moved forward to the kindergarten. In all that time he learned the sense of life in society (outside of home and family circle), he started to sing (he is a superhero - and in his opinion the superheroes just fight, they have no time for sensitive jobs :) - he improved the language and did a lot of specific worksheets, daily. All over, he had a great time and we, as parents, are happy to see him walking in the life with good models besides, speaking of teachers. The preschool is kept always clean and children are safe. Brand spanking new in 2001, this high school is pristine, airy with tons of light; there is lots of civilian traffic here which makes for a nice mix of adults and students. Focused on providing a Catholic Academic Education to the students, Bishop O'Byrne High School has grown substantially from the first graduating class of 260 some students to a population of almost 1600 students. I went there on a week day to put up theatre posters and I found the office staff, especially the drama and leadership teacher very open to supporting an outside program that would benefit their students. The school caters to grades 10 to 12 and has both an ESL and Special Needs Division as well as caters to students who have a desire for working internationally by offering Spanish and French classes.

Back in the spring I did a painting class here where they gave us a piece of plywood board and a stencil that said spring has sprung and we got to paint it and decorate it with anything- it was great! Then just recently Pinnovate celebrated their first birthday party. At their birthday their was complimentary goodies from cobs bakery, complimentary ice cream or gelato from Fiasco gelato, pizza from coco brooks and coffee from rosso coffee roasters. They also were making balloon animals. We could visit and tour the store and paint complimentary cards with water colors. It was great!

I was here for one year, but it was the year of 9/11, of choir, and of course of beginning my relationship with Kat. I don't remember much about the classes or people: being a final year transplant, I stuck to my good friends and damn the rest of them! I recall being in class when my band was announced the winner of the Battle of the Bands (cheers around!), only to have the statement retracted so they could crown some other shite band as the winner. One teacher complimented us sounding like a mix between "Led Zeppelin and the Barenaked Ladies" - if that was a compliment, it was one that stung like barbed wire! The year was topped off by a huge confrontation between a couple of gangs, people running around and general chaos. Driving away after school, we saw the principal several blocks away, yelling into a walkie talkie. What drama! This is a place best left to the dogs.
