Savoury crêpes with smoothie, juice, and coffee.
    Sam D.

I have no idea what's up with the food here, but I visited Haarlem for brunch December 2019, had a crêpe, went home, then passed out and slept ALL DAY. I definitely got knocked out in a food coma and my partner who was with me didn't realise that we both passed out in bed. We both woke up at the same time and realised that it was past dinner time. So sad that we ended up wasting a whole vacation day from these dang crêpes haha. The goat cheese ones were very filling and rich... no wonder. Now, I live in the area and this place reminds me of this funny story. I enjoy the atmosphere and friendly service. Consider here when you're looking for a bite in town!

    High tea service for two

I love high tea. It's one of my favorite things, and I really miss my monthly "Tea Ladies" group in Chicago. While in Haarlem, I passed not one, but THREE different places advertising afternoon/high tea. I got really excited. I went into the first place(not Crepe Affaire), which had a sign outside saying they offered high tea only to be met with resistance. Dallas: "Hi, I saw you offered high tea and would love the tea service for two please" Dude at counter: "Um, do you have a reservation for tea? Cause we only do it with reservations, but I guess we could do it for you but it will take like 30-40 minutes" Dallas: "Oh, okay we can wait." Dude: Blah blah random excuses-- I dunno I stopped listening and said nevermind. We walked to the next place, Crepe Affaire, and asked for high tea. The girl at the counter said normally they require reservations, but they'd happily provide tea for us. The service here was fantastic! The high tea came with two delicious savory crepes which was an added treat. On the day I was there it was a Mexican chicken crepe (damn delicious), a pesto mozerella crepe, a selection of cakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, unlimited tea, and parfait. I may be leaving out some things, but I posted a picture as well. It was a massive selection and it was all so good. While not a traditional high tea, it was still one of the best I've had--especially for the price of around 18EUR p.p. as high tea is usually $30-65p.p. depending on where you go ( it can get really fancy, I'm talking about you Four Seasons, Peninsula,Ritz!) I have two notes to add to this review-- 1. Don't advertise high tea if you don't readily provide the service. Put an asterisk saying " with reservation only" if that's the case, otherwise people like me will walk in and ask for what you're adverstising outside. 2. Anybody wanna start a Tea Ladies here? Let's make it happen!

Cute crepe restaurant, which serves both savory and sweet crepes, as well as coffee & fresh juices. I passed by this place on my way to my hostel in Haarlem and had to go in. The place is cutely decorated and gives fast service. I tried the Mexican Crepe. It was meant to be spicy, but if you are use to spicy, the sauce inside the crepe tastes similar to regular chip salsa - would be great if you had an option to add jalapeños inside. Also, the crepe has corn in it, which is wasn't prepared for, but complimented to dish. The meal was a good portion and came with chips too. ( by chips I do mean actual chips similar to doritos, and not french fries) Cute place, great price, nice service. I would be a frequent customer if I wasn't just here on holiday.

We love Crêpe Affaire! This location is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. They have a really big menu so there is really something for everyone. Everything is made fresh and the service is still very quick. They serve large portions for reasonable prices and everything is presented beautifully. Would definitely recommend Crêpe Affaire to everyone!

We ordered a #3 with chocolate and whipped cream and #9 with banana, chocolate, and whipped cream. Our cashier was nice and gave us a voucher for a free coffee or tea afterwards. It took about 25 minutes to have our pager buzz during the lunchtime crunch. I had a lemon ice tea and my husband enjoyed his tropical IPA Hoop Kaper. They were thinner and less sweet than American pancakes. Satisfying though not super flavorful, added a little syrup from the table. Next time I would try a savory option because the ones at the table next to us looked good! Lots of table discs inside and outside as this is the restaurant on site (many other takeaway places with fries or ice cream or other snacks but not a meal).

They specialize in both sweet and savory Dutch pancakes, which are served in the traditional style--very flat and spread out across the plate. The process is straightforward: you order and pay at the register, then head to the counter to pick up your food once it is ready. During my visit, I tried the pancake with apricot jam and whipped cream (€12.95). It was a decent meal--certainly not bad, but also nothing particularly special. While the prices are a bit high for what you get, that is somewhat expected given its prime location in a major tourist hub. In addition to pancakes, they offer a variety of cakes, muffins, and a full selection of beverages to choose from. The restaurant is quite spacious, offering plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating depending on the weather. A nice perk for guests is that the restrooms are free for customers to use, which can be hard to come by here. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, making it a pleasant and easy place to take a break after a day of exploring the windmills.

Through their booking site, I booked meat fondue for 2 persons and wrote that the third person will choose something on the day. A few days before the booked date, I happened to find that the meat fondue was on Social Deal. I never used Social Deal, but some friends said it's nice to do, so I tried it this time. I wrote through the original booking site that we change our booking, and apologised about it. On the day, the meat fondue looked nice, and my younger son ordered poffertjes. We also ordered 2 soft drinks and wine. Later, my younger son wanted to try the meat fondue, so I gave him a piece. Then immediately, the serving lady came running to us and said in Dutch: "HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO EAT THAT!!!" Me and my 2 kids froze. We were in a shock. I tried to stay calm and asked her: "May I ask what the reason is? If this meat fondue is a all-you-can-eat deal, then I can understand it, as you may make a loss. But we all ordered one meal each." She said, (pointing at the meat,) "THIS IS A CHEAP MENU!" At that time, 2 young girls next to our table started laughing. They also thought it was ridiculous. My elder son was shocked and he wanted to leave. I, however thought I should make a point, and said, "If this is a CHEAP menu, then I will order more drinks, and also desserts. Does that make you happy?" And we ordered more drinks and desserts we didn't even want. My elder son left as he was fed up. When paying, I asked the name of the lady as I thought it was very interesting to know the name of a person who says such a thing to a customer. She said, "I don't say my name. I'm the OWNER." I wondered why we were treated this badly. Was it because we used Social Deal? Then why do they take part in Social Deal? (They do it a lot). Was it because we booked by a normal site first? (but I did cancel it, apologising. And there were still 2 tables left that evening). Did she think it was better to throw away the meat we ordered and have my younger son order another meal? I even wondered if it may be because I'm not and don't look Dutch. Anyway, she has embarrassed us greatly and completely ruined our evening. I told about my experience to friends in Heemstede. One friend said that her son's elementary school used this restaurant for a class event, and there were lots of poffertjes for the kids. But the male owner(?) told one child: "You are eating too much!" Why run a restaurant if you treat your customers like this? I normally don't write reviews but felt I have to, as this was such a bad experience.
