Went here with a friend after seeing some great things written about the place. It is literally a one woman show as their is one woman cooking, ringing people up, and serving the food. She was super friendly and made for a great dining experience. For my breakfast I decided to get the crepe with red jam along with a quiche lorraine. The crepe was red jam was good--not too sweet, but enough to give it some good flavor. The quiche lorraine was even better as the crust was super buttery and provided a nice bite with the rest of the dish. Overall, this is a cute little cafe that serves up some decent food with a homey touch.

This adorable little place was like having breakfast in Paris! The space is very tiny and there are few places to sit so I can imagine that they probably often have a wait as the food is so good and the space so quaint. I will say that there was only one person doing everything including cooking, serving and accepting payment, but despite that we still got our food in a timely manner. We did have some excitement while we were there as a customer knocked into the table with the glass water cooler and it fell and smashed to pieces. There was water and glass everywhere. The girl working there handled it so calmly and everyone in the restaurant was so helpful in cleaning it up. I had a crepe like dish with cheese, egg and ham and my husband got an omelette. They serve your food on a wooden board with a red checkered napkin. Everything is homemade there and they were out of croissants by the time we got there at noon so I think getting there earlier would assure that they won't run out of anything. Great place for breakfast or lunch!!

Cozy, excellent service, fresh products and tasty dishes. Had an egg, ham and cheese crepé a mint and ginger tea and latte. The restaurant is tiny. Keep that in mind if it's a large group.

The cutest little cafe! I got the breakfast crepe with egg, hand, & cheese. Cutest presentation but could use a little seasoning of some sort (even just salt).

Came here for breakfast randomly, and it was a great decision! Food was amazing, espresso was delicious, and the service was amazing! Will definitely be back before our trip is over.

While it functions as a cozy, traditional Dutch brown café, virtually everyone comes here for one main reason: the famous Dutch apple pie (*appeltaart*). It completely lives up to the reputation. Served warm with a massive dollop of fresh whipped cream, it's thick, perfectly spiced, and has an almost cake-like crust that sets it apart. Pairing a slice with a fresh mint tea is pretty much mandatory. Because of its status and location, it's almost always buzzing with people--especially on market days--but the staff manages the perpetual queue remarkably fast. Snagging a table on the outdoor terrace for some people-watching along the canal is hard to beat. Whether you're taking visitors around the neighborhood or just out exploring the Jordaan.

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.

So good I stopped by twice on a 3 day trip to the city…read more I stopped by on my first visit craving a big, hearty sandwich for a late lunch and thought this might be a good find. Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
