However, as luck would have it, and with a bit of persistence on "our end" I came across Lorraina A. at the Oceanside location, who despite her extensive work load, was able to squeeze me in, despite my (2) previous Jackson Hewitt appointments/with confirmation for both, being mismanaged). Lorraina was engaging and professional and her attention to detail is what kept me from seeking another firm. Unfortunately my son, had to have his return done by another firm as he only had the one day available. However we will both be seeing Lorraina next year for our tax services. From the moment I walked in, the staff was rude, unprofessional, and clearly didn't want to be bothered. The receptionist barely looked up from her phone and acted like answering basic questions was beneath her. They completely botched my taxes. I ended up owing thousands more than I should have because of careless mistakes and sloppy work. When I called to complain, they got defensive and tried to blame ME for their errors. The accountant was condescending, interrupted me constantly, and clearly had no idea what he was doing. I felt like I was paying for amateur hour. The office itself looks cheap and outdated, with a weird smell and uncomfortable waiting chairs. They took forever to get anything done, missed deadlines, and charged me extra fees for "rush work" that they caused. Save yourself the headache and money. This place is incompetent, overpriced, and treats customers like garbage. I will never return and I'm warning everyone I know to stay far away. Zero stars if I could. Avoid at all costs.

I've been going up here for about 4 years... Maybe three. Honestly I lost count but it's worth the…read moredrive. I live in Chula Vista so this H&R block is more than a hop skip and jump away. Carmen has done my taxes every time I have gone. I specifically schedule with only her. Recently the girl started working so she started doing hers there as well. My taxes are done quick yet efficiently. I never leave unsure of anything. All my questions and concerns are always addressed before but if not she always gives us a card on our way out. I think this particular office isn't open year round but she always lets you know which one is. Maybe it's just me because she knows I drive far ;-) The office is just like any other tax office, chairs, partitions in between each person and coffee as well as water. It's clean, neat and everything I need at tax time :-) Thank you H&R block for having a terrific employee like Carmen Zelenka! I will continue the drive each year to come see her.

It was towards close so she said she would call and finish it the next day. No contact, I call and she said she would call back, never did. Monday and Tuesday, same thing. Every time I call no one wants to give me answers. When you pay someone $200 that includes "military tax pro" in their title and then they avoid you completely, it's frustrating. I called today, she answered with attitude and said once again "I will call you back this afternoon". NO CALL. 4 days in a row and this is also going as a complaint to the BBB. We leave for our next duty station this Saturday and I have no clue if I will be able to reach someone to confirm it's done. The shady part of it all was she tried to convince my husband and myself to opt out of peace of mind cause "we wouldn't need it". Funny right after that she ghosts us and our taxes aren't filed still!
