An excellent class. An entertaining instructor. Thorough and energetic. I will be returning for their other classes.

Their firearm safety course is extremely reasonable in price and is conveniently located in Beverly at the Cummings Center. Our instructors were Mike Pelonzi and Cory Daras. Mike has had several years under his belt in law enforcement experience and training. Cory Daras is a trained nurse, nurse educator and a Marine Veteran. She brings her passion for caring for others to a personalized gun safety course. Both Mike and Cory, with their sense of humor, delivered an exceptional firearm safety class. Mike and Cory are extremely passionate about firearm safety, public safety and very knowledgeable about past and current gun laws. Cory ensures that after you take her class you walk out with insight on personal safety, and situational awareness options to protect yourself and loved ones from potential threats. Mike and Cory's class was by far the best firearm safety training I have ever received. I look forward to going back to them for future firearms training as well as first aid and CPR training that the academy also provides. If you choose Safety Academy USA you will not be disappointed!

Army Mike (he told us to call him that since both instructors are named Mike) was informative and funny. He was really knowledgeable about the materials he planned to present as well as at answering any questions thrown at him. There were many questions (common or uncommon) and he answered them thoroughly and with plenty of insights. There are roughly 3 hours of presentation materials including basic introduction to gun types and gun safety; loading and unloading different types of guns; licensing information; MA gun laws. He reinforced each safety rule with a youtube video of mishaps by people, they were to the point and funny. (But of course sad at the same time) He also had plethora of entertaining stories and examples to give for each scenario. Everyone got to practice loading and unloading guns in front of the instructor. The 3 hour class went by like a breeze. Learned a lot in this class and most importantly, had lots of fun learning them! There is also an optional simulator session after handing out the certification, we did not stay for this one, but from past experience, it's like playing a video game with a fake gun, pretty fun to try! Had a Groupon for $40/per person, great price for an excellent certification class.

Pretty lame presentation for a very serious subject. The instructor was too loose in the…read morepresentation of the material and did not give any meaningful technical details RE gun safety. For example- he never mentioned that you must drop the clip then rack the slide in any auto- a very common cause of accidental gun shootings. The simulator was silly. In all, I would not recommend the course- especially at the price.

The worst customer service experience that I've had in my life…read more This training center is so uninterested in communicating with customers that the quality of their services is COMPLETELY irrelevant. I got my certificate from them a couple years ago when I applied for my FID. It's a long story, but I need another copy of certificate. I go to their website to lookup my info to see if I'm in their records, and find out that I need to contact them for a manual search. No one picked up when I called with the phone number on their website, and no one replied to my voicemail. I found a second phone number, which gave me the same results, but the voicemail message told me that the best way to reach them is over text. I try sending a text to the number, but it doesn't deliver. Eventually I found an email address to try. I never got a reply. Then I tried DMing their official Instagram page. No reply there, either. I decided to stop by the facility in person to ask them about my certificate, and also why they so hard to reach, and the place is locked during the hours when the website and google maps claims they're open. I showed up again and FINALLY caught them when they were actually holding a class. After telling me at first that they didn't have my certificate, with enough pushing they finally pulled it up. Then they had the nerve to charge me 20 bucks to print a copy. I hope that this is enough to deter you from giving these people your money, but maybe all you care about is the quality of the training itself. So, how was it? Fine, I guess. Sort of. A good sign that you can trust someone for advice about personal safety is whether they're in somewhat healthy physical shape. My instructor (both 4 years ago and now) couldn't self-defense his way out of a narrow doorway. Along with his neglect of fitness, I also distinctly remember him saying not to carry Glocks because they don't have manual safeties, which is ignorant and outdated advice.
