The owner/ instructor Mike Caggiano is very knowledgeable and professional and did an excellent job presenting the material. The class sizes are small compared to other training facilities. Max of 5 students. So it's a comfortable learning environment (not rushed) with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Perfect for people with no previous knowledge or exposure to fire arms or more advanced students. In addition to the classroom instruction, this course also includes live fire training, which takes place on a different day. This is a great experience as you will receive hands on training from Mike and the opportunity to fire several different pistols. Again, this a very comfortable learning experience. Until after my husband started walking away from the intake kiosk we were suddenly told "we're not taking any more shooters tonight because we'll be closing down the range in about 20 mins." If it says it's open til 8, then stay open til 8. If not- SPECIFY THAT ITS 730. You don't understand how important little breaks of freedom are to new parents. The process of pursuing an LTC for the first time (or ownership of any firearm) can very well be an intimidating process initially and courses can be stuffy/awkward but Daniel really helped one to digest the very serious topics, responsibilities and laws of gun ownership through engaging conversation, an open dialogue and a wonderful presentation. As someone who is fairly familiar with firearms, I think I learned what I need to obtain a license, but I can't imagine that a novice would have walked away feeling very confident. The instructor, John G., was a friendly guy and was very entertaining...at first. He had a very loose style, choosing to just talk to us instead of show any of the slides or videos on his laptop. This would have been fine, but he tended to go off on tangents, ramble on about his personal views and stories that didn't have much to do with the class, and would spend precious minutes trying to work up to his next joke. He also spoke to us as if everyone was familiar with All Things Firearm, and by the end of the second hour some the attendees were clearly becoming agitated. The class began with an announcement that Massachusetts gun laws were changing as of January 1st, but then he just moved on from there, offering no further information (a hand out or something describing the changes would have been helpful). He also spent a fair amount of time promoting websites of his friends and telling us why the NRA is not racist. After two hours, there was a break and when we returned, we received more of the same. The topics seemed very random, and after a very long story about how he is great at reading people followed by a few Bill Clinton and OJ Simpson jokes (because it is 1998, apparently), he finally got around to just showing us a bunch of videos in rapid-fire succession, with little to no context. Then the class was over, and we spent the next half hour standing in line so he could sign our certificates saying we took the class. This may sound like I'm hating on this instructor and class, but let me reiterate that he was a friendly and somewhat entertaining guy, and took time (sometimes way too much time) to answer questions. But he really needs to work on the whole "instructing" thing. It's an extremely complex topic that requires dissemination of very specific information, and I don't feel that was what we received.

I got my certificate from them a couple years ago when I applied for my FID. It's a long story, but I need another copy of certificate. I go to their website to lookup my info to see if I'm in their records, and find out that I need to contact them for a manual search. No one picked up when I called with the phone number on their website, and no one replied to my voicemail. I found a second phone number, which gave me the same results, but the voicemail message told me that the best way to reach them is over text. I try sending a text to the number, but it doesn't deliver. Eventually I found an email address to try. I never got a reply. Then I tried DMing their official Instagram page. No reply there, either. I decided to stop by the facility in person to ask them about my certificate, and also why they so hard to reach, and the place is locked during the hours when the website and google maps claims they're open. I showed up again and FINALLY caught them when they were actually holding a class. After telling me at first that they didn't have my certificate, with enough pushing they finally pulled it up. Then they had the nerve to charge me 20 bucks to print a copy. I hope that this is enough to deter you from giving these people your money, but maybe all you care about is the quality of the training itself. So, how was it? Fine, I guess. Sort of. A good sign that you can trust someone for advice about personal safety is whether they're in somewhat healthy physical shape. My instructor (both 4 years ago and now) couldn't self-defense his way out of a narrow doorway. Along with his neglect of fitness, I also distinctly remember him saying not to carry Glocks because they don't have manual safeties, which is ignorant and outdated advice.

The first thing facing someone taking a course is a hard-sell for membership in the USCCA for $300, $400, or $500 a year. And I do mean hard sell - you are led to believe that membership is required. (The day I went, everyone joined - the peer pressure made sure that no one skipped this part.) It's almost as if the training exists solely as a vehicle to sell memberships. Boston Firearms must get a nice commission for each membership. Here's the good news: you can cancel the USCCA membership and get a refund. If you want to learn how to safely handle, use, store, etc a handgun - I wouldn't recommend this place. The low cost of training at Boston Firearms is nice, but you get what you pay for. It's just a matter of time before the AG's office looks into this company and sanctions them for misleading info and questionable business practices. Good luck.

I recently got my LTC a couple months ago and have only shot a couple hundred rounds in my life. I…read moretook Will's Concealed Carry class last night, which was very informative on proper firearms and holsters for concealment, situational awareness, and how to safely protect yourself should you need to defend against a threat. I also took his Marksmanship class a couple of hours ago. By the end of the session, my groups were MUCH tighter and I was able to get 3 rounds on target in 1.04 sec! I'm looking forward to training and going back for the next levels of his Marksmanship course.
