The issues is they don't follow the next person in line rule. They seat whole rows 6/7 beads at a time and then will start in one section causing you to sometimes wait about an hour in the bed before getting hooked up. Now for express pass they are starting to do the same thing. So they will wait to have two or more express diners before they stick an express pass. This is unfortunate, because they do work with care but have zero effect in the fact that we wait an egregious amount of time. The other reason this is unfortunate is that you're not even acknowledged or spoken to until you're asked for your last four of your social security number

The company itself is not the problem, The problem is this particular location at 4760 South kedzie, this particular location by far is the worst plasma donation experience I've ever had. I started coming to this location at 4760 South kedzie over the winter months, The staff was not particularly professional in terms of the phlebotomists but the management here is unbelievably awful! I say this because I was recently deferred and all I did was ask for a more experienced phlebotomist to stick me rather than a trainee. When I did allow a trainee to stick me over the winter months I was deferred for 2 months because they blew my vein out they didn't pay me and I was deferred for 56 days. Also the manager here Kiki, as well as the center director, Shikita, practice discriminatory ways. Because of what happened to me over the winter , when I was seated in the bed getting ready to do the donation there was a young man training a young woman I simply said I would be more comfortable if one staff named Anna or another lady named Nikita were to stick me because they both have worked with me before and I've never had a problem with either of those ladies. Let me be clear The problem is not with the phlebotomy staff it is with management at this location. I also feel that I was discriminated against based on my race. I happen to be Caucasian and I don't understand why every time I had any interaction with Kiki she talks down to me she's condescending and doesn't even have the professionalism to make eye contact with me nor does the center director Shaquita!. They accused me of being rude to the staff but that wasn't the case I was very polite now mind you I have been donating with octapharma plasma for 7 years since 2019 I even called corporate to no avail nobody ever called me back. A couple of weeks ago, The management deferred me because they said I was rude and made their staff feeling comfortable! How do you think I felt when I lost 2 months of pay back in the winter months because I did allow a trainee to take me and it blew my vein and it was the most painful experience it took weeks to heal! Also I went to a competitor who Will remain anonymous but the experience at the next place was completely different than at this particular octapharma location 4760 South kedzie in Chicago Illinois. Whatever you do do not come to this location The lines are horribly long they never have enough staff and they make you feel like they're doing you a favor to allow you to donate when that is all wrong we are the reason we donors are the reason they have jobs! There are several other companies in this area do not go to this location of octapharma until they change this rude corrupt staff that also practices discriminatory practices. I met a man it's a train station when I left and I was deferred for life from this location just because I asked for another phlebotomist with experience this man was a drunk and he had three chances he kept being belligerent and drunk and they put him out of this location now that's understandable I have never been anything but polite people will tell you I am not making this up I had no problem getting along with the staff this particular day this particular trainer was ridiculous he was so rude he wouldn't even make eye contact with me and he told Steph that I made him uncomfortable. Then tell me how is it that I've been donating with this company for 7 years if I'm so rude? My review for this location is one if there was a zero I would give it but the lowest is one star for scoring this particular location. If you're looking to make money or your time sensitive do not come here they are understaffed and they are rude The overall management needs to be changed That's my opinion because I have been in professional business for over 30 years and I was shocked as to how rude Kiki the manager and shaquita the center director acted towards me. I'm just giving you a heads up Don't be surprised if you get contacted by my attorney do not go to this location they are racist!

I noticed that I already had a good blood flow and plenty of blood coming out of the puncture directly after the needle prick and enough blood to wipe the finger clean and continue with placing blood into the slender glass tube, it was enough blood coming out already to fill up the tube, without the excessive squeezing and pushing on the finger. I thought we squeeze fingers like that only if we are not able to get enough blood flow to place inside tube for testing. My blood was already coming out pretty fast and full. I noticed today that the finger is a bit sore and I have never experienced that before after a finger being pricked and squeezed for a sample.

The staff is knowledgeable, kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful. I have nothing but praise for the medical care itself. However, trying to get a taxi out of this building is an absolute nightmare and deeply unorganized. While there is a direct phone line to request a cab, the system is entirely broken. All you get from the dispatchers is a vague acknowledgment that a car is on the way. You are left to wait and wait. Worse yet, even when you are finally assigned a specific cab number, there is zero order outside; other people will routinely jump ahead and take your designated taxi, forcing you to start the entire process over again. This chaotic, confusing setup is incredibly difficult and stressful for people who are ill, exhausted, or unfamiliar with the area. The medical staff deserves five stars, but Rush urgently needs to organize its passenger pickup system to protect its patients.

Only issue of course is no Sunday but ever since I worked close to Midway Airport this has been a convenient CSL Plasma after work and they do NOT close unexpectedly and change hours like the one in Chicago by Cicero and Diversey Avenue nor are they Condescending like in Franklin Park location with a Southern Caucasian girl name Christine. Plus the one in Franklin Park they turn on the AC in the winter so you have to wear a sweater on one side of your arm. I do like it here for that reason on my feedback

I was mostly worried about parking in this area but they do have some parking just west of the facility, across Leavitt. You enter that lot lot Harrison. Much/most/all of the street along Leavitt is 30 minute parking only which could work if you have an appointment here to donate blood, depending upon how long the appointments are. The course was good. It lasted about two and a half hours or so and began with adult CPR and choking techniques, from which the child and infant techniques are derived so you learn those modifications toward the end of the course. There were a couple people here who didn't need/want the child instruction so they were able to leave during the break. Due to the pandemic, they assign two people to a dummy instead of three as they used to, but they do partner you up if you're alone to ensure that you have someone observing to make sure you're getting the techniques correct. The course is a certification course, and I received my certification card later that same day (Saturday).

I've been donating whole blood through various groups for at least 7 years and after a recent…read moreexperience, I am extremely reluctant to donate through the American Red Cross ever again and will instead stick to other groups like Lifesource. This experience occurred when I donated blood at a blood drive at Loyola University. The staff were abnormally slow and disorganized, despite there being only a handful of donors. Either they were untrained or the Red Cross' system needs streamlining. Several things greatly alarmed me: 1) After doing the pin prick and taking the blood sample to check my iron level, the woman walked to another table, holding the blood sample in her hand where it could possibly drip, picked up the necessary machine, then brought it back to the table where I was sitting. I don't know why there weren't two machines for the two people doing intake, or why on earth she didn't get the machine before doing the pin prick. 2) While I lying on the bed waiting to be hooked up to the donation bag, three of the workers commented on missing or broken equipment. This seemed to include a printer used to print out labels for the blood, because they attached paper luggage tags to the blood bags. 3) The woman took a very long time to set up the blood bags. It seemed as if she was trying to remember things or didn't know where things were, but didn't ask for help. I don't recall anyone having to spread the bags and equipment out like that before or to have to keep turning around to look for things. It's usually a very fast set up. 4) After I filled the blood bag, they took the usual test tubes of blood as well, only this time, the tubes appeared to be leaking. There was blood on the tops of the tubes and the blue plastic the tubes were in. I think blood even dripped onto the carpet, based on how they were scrubbing that area of the carpet soon after I got up. I've never seen this happen before. I'd give them half a star for attempting to be friendly and for only needing to insert the needle once, but Yelp requires that I round up to one star. :-(
