The Iowa Hawkeyes volleyball teams and the professional ice hockey team Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL both play here. The arena is also attached to GreenState Family Fieldhouse which houses five different courts. As someone who played competitive basketball for years as a kid, I can totally see some amazing tournaments being hosted here! I came for a Friday night Heartlanders game. What an amazing atmosphere. and a beautiful facility. Staff was very friendly. Food was actually pretty darn good for arena food-- those brats, kettle chips and chicken tenders were crowd pleasers! PRO TIP: Don't forget to bring a clear bag! +'s Craft beer in 16oz cans. I love that Big Grove and Backpocket is sold here! Hockey. Holy cow. I haven't watched a hockey game in-person since I lived in Denver. I love that we now have a hometown team to root on. -'s Parking. I don't know if maybe a parking ramp is in the future, but be warned parking is a bit tricky as of now. Price. I found pricing to be a bit high when it came to getting the party suite. I am used to getting all inclusive tickets or party suites at MLB games and the bang for buck of going to a Heartlanders game is less, surprisingly. Keep a lookout for upcoming children's shows (Disney on Ice) and other sporting events! I know I'll be back many, many times.

In the fall there's games, food/drinks, pumpkin patch picking, a market and of course, the corn maze. In the winter Colony Acres offers fresh-cut trees and Santa. I've only event ventured here during the fall-- tickets are $11-16. (*Pro Tip: order online to save a few bucks a ticket.*) My kids adored the zip line, slides, train ride, bouncy pad and corn maze. We typically don't get pumpkins here but there's a wide selection of those-- mums, corn stalks, hay bales and more. The farm is closed Mondays and Tuesdays during the fall. It allows dogs! There's plenty of parking. Staff is uber friendly. Stop by.

The seating in the theater consists of couches, love seats, big comfy chairs and some table/chair combos making it feel like you're watching the play from your living room. They also have a small concession area in the lobby where you can purchase drinks (non alcoholic, beer and wine) and snacks to enjoy while watching the show. It's community theater so you need to keep in mind that a lot of the actors are still developing their craft and with this performance in particular there were several children, but overall I really enjoyed the performances. One of the coolest things about Giving Tree though is that for every production they put on, the actors decide on a charity and they donate a portion of the proceeds to that charity--hence the name Giving Tree Theater. I will definitely be getting tickets to Peter and the Starcatcher in Feb/March.

Another great time in Amana for Oktoberfest…read more We were here all week but spent the most time in town on Friday. The weather was great. We did quite a bit of shopping at the quaint shops in town, then had lunch under the Oktoberfest tent. The Trotter (smoked pork shank) was excellent! We made our way into Festhall and sat with our friends and was entertained by Barefoot Becky and her band. Saturday brought the rain to Oktoberfest but there were still a lot of people in town. We look forward to our next time here in Amana at a future Oktoberfest.

I loved getting the Amana Wurst Festival pint mug that was made out of silicone and tie-dyed in color; however, I feel like it was way overpriced, as it cost $17 and then I had to pay for the beer inside of it and it was $5 per fill. The Festival was kind of a disappointment with the disorganization of events hosted during the Festival and with the long lines that you had to wait in just to taste a piece of what they were selling. And oh boy if you were in the wrong line, or if you wanted to try more than one item, then you pretty much had to be there all day with the slow-moving lines. It seemed like the whole event could have been planned out better with the landscaping available. I will probably not be making it back to this event.
