My husband and I flew into Cedar Rapids to see a band we wanted to see, and the show was at the Paramount. I can't tell you for sure what style this architecture is- Italianate, maybe? I described it as "Indiana Jones and the Temple of WOOOO!". COLORFUL, plaster, ornate lighting and ceiling medallions... it was really interesting. The seats were surprisingly wide! We were so comfortable! The crowd was amazing, and the staff was so polite. Looking at their upcoming Broadway season and very impressive list of comedians (Matt Rife, Drew Lynch, etc) , I'm jealous we don't have this spot at home. The size is just right - just barely big enough to get some good names, but small enough there are no bad seats! Parking is FREE on the street on weekends. read more

Alice Cooper rocked the Paramount Theatre last night! The Paramount was opened in 1928 and they don't build theaters like this anymore. With a capacity of approximately 1600 people there isn't a bad seat in the house. The sound was excellent and Alice Cooper at 74 years old rocked to a sold out show. The Paramount is beautiful and it has been preserved to keep the historic look with the updated comforts we expect. Hello 1920s. You're might pretty. What a historic gem. One of mere hundreds left in the US. It is so extravagant and grand. The Hall of Mirrors is an absolute show stopper. Definitely an ode to the Palace of Versailles. Parking isn't really an issue. There are three ramps nearby as well as street parking and other lots. Pricing for the shows are on point. Ordering online is no problem. Staff during the show was so helpful and pleasant. And concessions were reasonably priced with a decent adult beverage selection! I love that they have musicals, comedy shows, Broadway plays, kids events, music concerts and more! We had tickets on a Friday night and had exactly the type of experience I had hoped for. (I definitely recommend checking out Spamalot if they come back in town, too.) Go check out this theatre! I am so glad they were able to renovate and rejuvenate it after the huge flood devastated it years ago. Our community is so lucky to have it. Go get cultured at Paramount Theatre-- there is something for everyone at all types of price points! You won't regret it. read more

Went to see the killer queen and the shop was fun and had a good time. Only gave the location a 1 star because the lines for refreshments was not that long and the sears were comfortable and the building had some history to it. But it wa a 75 degree day and there seemed to be no air circulation or even AC on. Were we just sitting in our seats, no alcohol, not dancing yet and was dripping with sweat. It interfered with my ability to truly enjoy the show. We were all so hot and the stench from everyone being in a sauna on the balcony was gross. I did make a complaint and missed 2 songs while discussing the temperature in the building. Was kind of funny, the manager Travis comes out to talk to me in a sweater and says to me, oh it's hot up there? Well guess his office was a bit cold the fact he had on a sweater. After hearing the sob story about it being an old building and blah, blah, I just went back to my seat. My point was old building or not, if you know you have a sold out concert and it's 75 degrees outside, then someone should if had the AC turned up the morning of or even the day before the event! Performers were great, building was horrible! read more

What a beautiful establishment! This was my first visit to the theater. I don't live in this area but if I did I would realize what a treasure this is. We're here for the Video Games Live with the Iowa orchestra. We arrived early and marveled at the building interior. We spoke to one usher that told us that tonight was a full house of 1600 people and how the seating in some parts of the older sections were different from more updated areas (seat width). He is a proud local that said the town is keeping this theater going and proud of it. We also talked to another that said where the water came up to in the flood of 08. We also found the cafe / bar that is an add on and all modern interior. Nothing like the elegant chandelier hanging in the lobby, or statutes and ceiling work in the rest of the place. Everyone was super friendly and the only minus is the small bathroom on the second floor but that didn't not take away from the experience. read more

Not only is this place beautifully restored, the events here are wonderful. I've been here for a lot of events, but I have to share a really positive experience I had just yesterday with a box office employee. I believe his name was Kevin. There was a promo released for discount tickets to Spamalot, and I was super excited to get these tickets. However, I couldn't get the promo code to work correctly online. There were only two seats left together in the section I wanted, so I was certain I wouldn't be able to snag them. I called shortly after the box office opened at 10:00, and disappointingly got voicemail. But Kevin called me within just a couple of minutes, and then we found I couldn't get those tickets until my cart timed out online. I had closed my browser window already, so I couldn't cancel my cart. Instead of telling me "too bad" like I sort of expected, Kevin offered to watch the seats and when my cart timed out, he'd call me back. Sure enough, he called me back in about ten minutes and had been able to secure the seats for me. That's awesome customer service, and I wanted to say thank you! Bought tickets for the Alice Cooper show 6 months ago. Show up tonight for the concert and was told my tickets were no longer good, as they had PA set up in my seats. I was made to go back through the line like I had no tickets and was given seats in the 20th row. Sounds ok...right? Not when I paid $250 for 3rd row seats and had 3 tickets. Wasn't offered a full refund and was made to feel embarrassed. Wonderful for my kids first concert. read more

I've always liked the paramount, but since the refurbishment after the flood it's even better. The variety if shows they've been getting in is great. I live the acoustics and the whole ambiance of the place. I've seen ballets, comedians, rock shows and Broadway shows. Everything has been wonderful. My grandchildren really live coming here for shows too. read more

Top notch experience at Paramount. This historic theatre provides endless character and the venue always runs a smooth show. Ive enjoyed concerts and comedians in the past but any excuse to get in the building is definitely worth it and if you've never been, you're missing out big time. I cant wait to get to another show at The Paramount when large gatherings are allowed again. read more

Beautiful venue. I loved everything about the place. They did a great job of restoring it after the flood. The downfall, and the reason for 2 stars, the staff. Extremely rude, and very mean. I was treated like a child, getting scolded for entering in the wrong door for my daughters dance recital by 2 separate workers. One rolled there eyes at me when I went to get my ticket scanned after I apologized for coming in the wrong way. Very disappointing. read more

Absolutely breathtaking restoration! I could walk around in here all day! I looks identical, except better, than when I attended a Broadway show 10 years ago. Recently saw a comedy act, and it was outstanding. Great sound, easy access to bathrooms and concessions, and not a single bad seat in the house. Absolutely gorgeous. read more
